Slugs instead of eyebrows

What is it with this fashion for painting fat brown slugs over the eyes? Does anyone think it looks beautiful?

LadyGracie Fri 10-Feb-17 20:38:12

No I think it looks awful, it may look better if they didn't have such intensely dark slugs.
My eyes are always drawn to them, if I'm not careful it could be a wide mouthed stare!

It's a most unattractive fashion statement I can't wait for it to change as they all look hideous but cant they see it . I notice my grandaughters' getting a tad darker I m dreading them getting bigger as they all try to keep up and be accepted
Awful look

I agree. Girl at work has hers tattooed on, too dark and hard. I think the tattoo wears off after a few months.

I dislike them but rather than reminding me of slugs I think they look more like those black hairy caterpillars . I do darken my own a little but minimally . Glad I didn`t pluck them too much when I was young and a thin line was fashionable as so many of my friends have never grown back . Would never go for the tattoo`d ones ! what if you hated them .

Up here in the North it is known as "The Scouse Brow" a very unattractive name for a very unattractive feature I think, the fashion will change soon I expect it all evolves with time.

I like a bit of emphasis on brows, it shapes the face. Like all make up though it oughtabe not painted on.

merlotgran Sat 11-Feb-17 09:45:08

I've always been a fully paid up member of the 'less is more' brigade when it comes to make up so I'm glad eyebrows were barely visible in my fashion conscious days.

merlotgran Sat 11-Feb-17 09:45:51

That's if you could find them under my fringe grin

I do like a nicely shaped brow but I agree some of the younger women are having these huge things done. I have just had a new treatment for brows called HiBrows at an Elemis salon - its was more expensive (£26) but it lasts longer than a conventional wax and tint and looks very tidy and natural.

I had eyebrows like furry slugs until my 50'svwhen hormone changes changed so many things. I'd never had a brow shape till my youngest went to university so stopped keeping the hedge on my forehead tidy. No fringe was long enough to hide the disaster, I lacked any ability to do a decent job, so I called in at a local beauty salon. That was a first and a bit of a shock but I'm a regular now on the eye brow shape front and also discovered how much a decent massage helps the aching back. It's been win win ?

I hark back to the days when Biba popularised the pencil thin 30s eyebrow so I can't see the attraction of the slugs at all. Some of them look more like Groucho Marx than girls. I am colouring mine a little now that I am sprouting grey hairs, but it is only a little.

Luckygirl Sat 11-Feb-17 21:30:21

I have caterpillar eyebrows; but at least they look real! The slugs seem to be painted over totally plucked eyebrows. Strange. You find your eyes drawn to them like magnets!

Luckygirl Sat 11-Feb-17 21:31:23

Or I do!

mrsmopp Sat 11-Feb-17 23:30:37

Trouble with these thick dark eyebrows is they make all the girls look the same. They don't look individual any more. Same hairstyle, which is shoulder length and straight.
No wonder I don't know who's who any more. All carbon copies of each other.

phoenix Sun 12-Feb-17 01:44:55

I have dark brows, not slugs, but pretty thick, have trouble plucking and shaping as I find it hard to do without my glassesblush

I have recently let my hair go to it's natural colour, a sort of silver grey, but I read somewhere that your hair and brows should never be more than two shades different!

So, I have natural coloured hair, and natural coloured eyebrows, but apparently it's all wrong confused

maddyone Sun 12-Feb-17 10:01:31

I don't like the slug look either, but then I didn't like the plucked off completely and then drawn back on look either, however my motto for this kind of thing is 'to each his/her own'. I discovered the eyebrow wax and shape 30 years or more ago, and I have had them done regularly ever since.

Luckygirl Sun 12-Feb-17 10:08:10

phoenix - join the clan - I can't see a darn thing without my goggles - let alone tiny hairs. Another good reason for leaving well alone I feel.

Kim19 Sun 12-Feb-17 10:42:30

Yep pretty awful in my opinion and I've yet to see the wearer they flatter but then I think back to some of the things I did and wore as a somewhat follower of fashion! Dearie me...........

Lilyflower Sun 12-Feb-17 10:59:52

No, horrible. Can't stand beards on men either.

glammanana Sun 12-Feb-17 11:05:07

Gosh when I think of it I have never seen my hubby without his beard it would be like having a new man in the house !!

Diddy1 Sun 12-Feb-17 11:23:02

mrsmopp, I agree with you, these brown slugs make all girls look the same, together with the long straight hair, why dont they dare to be different, my Granddaughter is exactly the same, they dont need to paint their eyebrows at their age, they are lucky!

Maggieanne Sun 12-Feb-17 12:27:29

The new fashion for pale lips is not a good look, especially if, as one make-up girl I saw, just blends the lip colour into the same shade as her skin! Aaarrgh, no mouth.

lizzypopbottle Sun 12-Feb-17 13:02:57

There are two young girls who have coffee together after school in our local Sainsburys cafe every Friday (as I do). One is very pretty with high cheekbones and dark hair. The other isn't as striking and has long, crimped curtain hair (as my mother used to say). Both have the huge, dark, caterpillar eyebrows. One came carry them off. The other one cannot. Where is her mirror and her mother (I know she'll probably take no advice from her mother!)? (Not to mention common sense and self respect!)

lizzypopbottle Sun 12-Feb-17 13:05:52

Where oh where is the long awaited edit facility?
One can carry them off.

Also, the less pretty one has fairish hair so big, dark eyebrows are just wrong!
