I've been a slave to Clinique forever but I'm finding it a bit dry for my skin the past few months and perhaps I need to swap to something for more mature skin. Are there any moisturisers you'd recommend?

I buy my skin care from Holland & Barrett. It's quite cheap and contains Moroccan Argon Oil and other natural ingredients. It's called dr.organic.

I also like it because it comes in a glass jar with a screw top lid. This means I can get every last bit out, unlike some of these opaque, pump-action creams where you just know there's plenty left in but unless you set about it with a hammer and smash it up you can't get it out.

Aldi Lacura caviar range, fantastic, in a blind test reported in Daily Mail no different from La Prarie, oh, except it's over £200 cheaper!

Aldi have won awards for their moisturiser and it is very creamy.

Liz Earle Superskin or Clarins .

Largolass Sun 12-Mar-17 15:35:01

Liz Earle Superskin for me....

clough1945 Sun 12-Mar-17 16:33:57

I am wry happy with Lidl or Aldi

I use Nivea Daily Essentials Light Moisturising Day Cream with spf 15.

Its only £3 -£4 and I have been using it for around 6 years.

The serum I sometimes use without moisturiser - Aldi Restorative Soy Multi Intensive Serum -

I also use Aldi Lacura Q10 Multi Intensive Expert Wrinkle Smoother.

I notice they have a new one on line now - Lacura Cellsation Regenerating Serum £ 6.99, which I haven't yet tried.

I take that Nivea to swim pool and on holiday sparklygran as it's so convenient in tube,

Also love the Nivea tinted moisturiser,

Facial oil well worth buying as boots botsnics just as good as pricier ones,

Have only ever used Nivea and am often complemented on my skin (wouldn't usually say this but as you're asking).

SparklyGrandma Wed 15-Mar-17 11:00:01

celebgran I find it very good all year round and some have commented on my skin. Protects against sun damage too.

mrsjones Wed 15-Mar-17 11:55:48

I always use Dermologica intensive moisture balance because it's magic!

I use Clinique dramatically different lotion which is great but use clarins double serum underneath and once a week exfoliate using dermalogica microfoliant. All expensive but a bottle of each lasts me nearly a year

I just use Aveeno for moisturising everywhere. Arms, legs, face. It does a very good job.

Mapleleaf Tue 21-Mar-17 20:57:17

I like Olay. It absorbs well for me.

TerriBull I agree with you that there are no miracle creams to ward off the signs of aging. Good skin as you say is largely down to genes, and not smoking, or drinking excessively and over exposure to the sun. If you have been complemented on your skin then you are probably blessed with the former or have been careful about the latter. All moisturiser does is temporarily plump up the skin and gives appearance of fewer lines. I think dermatologists generally recommend using a moisturiser with added UVA/UVB protection, which is what I go for.

grannypiper Wed 22-Mar-17 08:12:03

Lazigirl i have great skin, no lines and only ever use water.smoked 40 a day for many years, i drank way too much for way too long and rarely used suncream even when living in Europe. It is all down to genes and all the money in the world cant change those.

Ginny42 Wed 22-Mar-17 08:29:04

Grannypiper, you must be one of the lucky ones never having to use sunscreen + smoking and not using moisturisers. I'm told I have amazing skin for my age, and I too have the genes, but I do take good care of it. In the past I have used La Prairie and it is very good, but I now use Aldi Lacura and their serums. I recommend it. I also have their 7 day intensive treatment, which I find has enough for several weeks treatment, so every month I have a week of that.

Lazigirl Wed 22-Mar-17 11:03:56

You are sooo lucky grannypiper, I have friends of my age who have great skin which they've inherited too. I have fair, freckly sensitive skin and unfortunately however much I spend on creams won't alter it. I use Simple moisturiser with SPF and Clinique sun block also as a belt and braces against skin cancer . (I hope)

Lazigirl Wed 22-Mar-17 11:05:58

I meant "City Block" by Clinique, not sun block!

Luckylegs9 Mon 03-Apr-17 07:23:35

Just use a moisturiser night and morning, a lot is down to genes, can't see how an expensive cream would help if you have inherited poor skin. My skin was fantastic until I hit 70, now lines are appearing by the day I think, just have to draw attention away, dress fashionably and have a modern hairstyle, really not worth worrying about something I can't change.

valeriej43 Tue 09-May-17 20:20:59

I use Aldis Caviar range ,i love it, but sometimes use one from Boots called reface, with Retinol, a couple of times a week, i am 74 and complimented often on my skin,
I smoked until 2 years ago, and the only problem i have is liplines, which i wish i could get rid of

tinaf1 Wed 10-May-17 17:35:19

Ponds or Astral cream

merlotgran Wed 10-May-17 18:16:00

I like Body Shop vitamin E moisturiser but at the moment I'm using Body Shop Hemp face protector cream as I spend hours in the garden.

I am 55. Look about 75. I have never smoked. Covered in lines (as pointed out regularly by my DGC). I blame worry and my late mother.

I can't afford fancy creams but always use something or other. I am not faithful to a brand and just buy whatever's cheap on offer.
