www.lookfabulousforever.com.
Has anyone any thoughts on this makeup for the mature ones amongst us. I'm in need of a huge confidence boost and although it is expensive has anyone tried these products and are they worth it, or is it just another gimmick.

I have watched some of the LFF tutorials I also receive the news letter however I find the products over priced I myself spend more on a foundation and a moisturiser but lipsticks eye shadow and any other products I buy Superdrug own make or Avon

I use Look Fabulous Forever and love their primer and eyelid primer, lipstick and blusher. The videos are very good and I have enjoyed wearing make up again after years of 'going natural'! My daughter has complimented me on my new and improved natural' look!

I would be interested to hear a recommendation for a good moisturiser. Prices vary so much......my choice is usually quite random.

Another vote for Laura Geller - look out for Todays Special Value on QVC and watch their demos. Also have a look at Avon, some of their make up is really good and well priced. I love their all in one make up compact - so easy to use, doesn't cake or flake on 'mature' skin and easy to pop in bag for touch ups if needed.

Bare minerals for me.

Icyalittle Sun 02-Jul-17 11:00:46

I'm another Bare Minerals enthusiast. I much prefer a natural look that just smooths out the colour like a tinted moisturiser, and this does it for me. I put it on in the morning over L'Oreal Golden Age Rosy moisturiser and that's me for the day. If you need more coverage, you can layer it up more.

Silverlining this moisturiser is great

As a dear friend said years ago as she went to look at some expensive make-up
"It's purchasing a dream!" I think it is all about finding something you feel suits your skin and makes you look better in the mirror! I have been using Olay moisturiser and serum which I mix on the back of my hand with Olay CC cream. It makes me feel better and people tend to think I'm younger than I am - so can't ask for more!

Silverlining47 Sun 02-Jul-17 11:38:12

Thanks Icyalittle. I'll look out for that.

When I retired, one of my 'resolutions' was to go as eco- friendly as possible including make up,skin and haircare as well as household products. For make up I mainly use the PUR range from M & S and products from Evolve Beauty for skin and body care. The Lovelula site is great for getting lots of ideas too. www.lovelula.com

Not a great make-up user, always use mascara otherwise you cant see my eyes, a litttle lipstick before I go anywhere. One problem, has anyone any suggestions for covering shadows under my eyes I take Statins and these cause shadows, not pleasant, I always look tired, and I am not, thankful for any suggestions.

I Don't think you have to spend a lot or go for high priced brands, Avon, and most supermarkets (Even Primark believe it or not ) do a good range of colour correctors, luminators, highlighters, brow fillers and dry oils and good brushes. All of which are not gimmicks nor are they miracles workers but they will sooth, hide, highlight, brighten and lift confidence.

Thanks to a GNer... I have discovered SuperDrug's natural line. Great stuff! flowers

glammanana Sun 02-Jul-17 12:41:26

Superdrug for me also after years of trying and failing with the more expensive brands I have come to the conclusion that my skin is best served with Simple Face Wash and Moisturised with Superdrug Dry Skin Relief and my skin has never been better, during the day I use a lightly coloured BB Cream from the same store its called Pure and costs the daft price of £1.99 and is far better on my skin than all the pricier ones.

Sheilasue Sun 02-Jul-17 13:04:10

No I just stick to light make up which looks natural.

Legs55 Sun 02-Jul-17 13:42:09

I use Nivea for cleanser, eye make up remover is brilliant. I love their moisturiser, I did some testing for Clarins, should I should have used for a month but after 2 weeks I had come out in lots of little white spotsconfused

I can't wear foundation as I have very sensitive skin (brings me out in a rash). I usually only have mascara & lipstick on, occasionally I use eye shadow. If I go out in the evening I will wear more, I always use No7 rarely any other product.

My nails are my pride & joy, always nice nail varnish & they grow to a good length despite doing all the gardening & housework I'm often asked if they are my own nailsgrin

I didn't like FFl foundation as it tends to 'pill' and the concealer wasn't that good either. I use Clinique tinted moisturiser (Moisture Surge), a little goes a long way, gives good coverage and lasts all day.

Less is more as you get older! (indeed any age I believe. Make up should enhance you and look natural) Go to any reputable store that sells make up on beauty stands.

They all do free make overs. They will show you what to wear and what not too. You will get a discount on anything you buy usually.

John Lewis, Boots and Debenhams are the main one's. Though you may find independents also do it.

My beauty/hair salon does it too, as well as my spa where I have treatments each month..

Craftycat Sun 02-Jul-17 16:23:00

I tried it but found it expensive for what it was. I got matte shadows much cheaper with better range elsewhere. I like Bare

Silverlining, I have tried lots of different moisturisers, and found many of them heavy and cloying. I have finally found one that suits my slightly dry/ sometimes sensitive skin.

Aldi 'Lacura' restorative multi intensive serum Soy for mature skin.

Yes, this very cheap serum, which can be used on it's own, is perfect for me.
It costs around £4. I bought it to try as I figured that it was such a small amount of money that if it wasn't suitable, then I had not wasted a huge sum of money. I have never looked back.
Aldi do several moisturisers, for all ages and skin types at what I call silly prices. Well worth checking out.

Boots No7 I've found to be the best moisture cream and make up range for me. Their under eye concealer is fantastic and they colour match it for you to your skin tone. their tinted moisturiser is really good too. Lipstick though I use maybelline 24 hrs.it has good staying power and you paint it on

Sweetpeas89 Sun 02-Jul-17 19:01:06

I bought a full (very expensive set from Look Fabulous Forever and the only bits I really use are the concealer occasionally, the primer, which is lovely, and the blush. It's v expensive.

Here's my routine:

For face creams I use the Body Shop's Drops of Youth Concentrate as a serum, then the Youth Cream - it's lovely. let it set for a moment or two, then pop some primer on (either the LFF or the Body Shop in the Drops range).

Then I pat a little foundation on with my finger over the red or blemished bits of my face - pat, don't smear! I use either Clinique Redness Solutions or Max Factor Liquid Touch Liquid Illusion.

Finally I get a massive kabuko brush and swirl it into a box of Magic Minerals and then buff it onto my whole face - that sets the little bit of foundation and evens everything out.

For actual make-up, all I do is tightline my eyes (http://www.wikihow.com/Tightline-Eyes), and use a little bit of mascara, followed by a Lipstain lipstick (different shades available from Amazon) - stays on for hours!

I'm 58 and I think I look OK smile

Sundancer123 Sun 02-Jul-17 19:02:41

Liz Earle Evey time.?

Dana6789 Sun 02-Jul-17 19:55:43

So Sweetpeas, that's 5 products so your face alone- serum then youth cream then primer, followed by foundation then a swirl of magic minerals. I don't think I would even remember to use all those products each time, let alone the order they should go on!

Having said that, I must say your skin does look very good.

JanaNana Sun 02-Jul-17 21:14:29

Superdrug vitamin E intensive moisturiser......and Garnier roll-on under eye dark circles concealer is what I use daily. Very inexpensive and effective. I would not spend lots of money on other expensive products that do the same thing. A lot of the time you are just paying for a brand name. Having a healthy diet and lifestyle also plays a big part in how skin ages as well as genetics.
