www.lookfabulousforever.com.
Has anyone any thoughts on this makeup for the mature ones amongst us. I'm in need of a huge confidence boost and although it is expensive has anyone tried these products and are they worth it, or is it just another gimmick.

Also look at your mother, genes play a huge part in how you look in later life.

I just love skin care products and makeup and I wear it every day! Part of the reason for this is I wear specs and therefore eye makeup is a must for me. Expensive I know but I love Benefit mascaras, however Avon has one that is very similar to 'They're real!' at a fraction of the price.
LFF does have lovely eye colours but like many of you I'm not keen on the foundation, too heavy for me.
I find that No. 7 tinted moisturiser gives just enough coverage.

My friend wears Estee Lauder Forever Wear foundation. I thought it would be too heavy.
She had a bottle with about a week's worth left in it and she gave it to me to try.
I put it on quite sparingly with a brush and then built it up just a little on centre face and cheeks. I love it. It really does stay on all day and comes off with a baby wipe.

It's expensive at £32 - my usual Elizabeth Arden costs about £10, but it has great coverage and feels good. I just need to use it a little more sparingly than the Elizabeth Arden.

I do believe this is going to be my treat to myself smile
My other make up comprises Avon and Rimmel.

My son in law is a make-up artist and offers me so many products. If I were to use all the products it would take me at least an hour or more to do my make-up..so......I don't bother with any of it! I am happy with a basic amount of make-up just to make me look as if I am alive!

Estée Lauder Forever Wear for me too, but use sparingly. Superdrug for creams and No7 mascara. But please can anybody recommend lipstick/stain that stays put?

I use Nivea face cream and have done all my adult life. I don't have any wrinkles (age 62) but obviously this may be down to 'good' genes. I use Clarins foundation and blusher, Clinique mascara, guerlain metoriates powder on cheekbones. I used to use Bobbi Brown eyeshadow and lipstick but recently changed to Urban Decay - it's fab... really highly pigmented and stays on all day.

Unless I'm staying in all day I always wear makeup and perfume - I don't feel good without it!

I have switched to the Aldi Lacura range of cleansers and moisturisers they are excellent.

I recommend you ask for professorial assistance from cosmetic counters (Boots is always helpful and less intimidating than some of the department stores). Explain that you are new to make up and need all the advice they can give you. Maybe to start you should request a not too heavy made up look. Don't feel obliged to purchase anything if you are unsure.

I use Bare Minerals Complextion Rescuing tinted cream. It acts as a moisturiser, evens out skin tones and is not tested on animals. You can get it in a variety of shades at shops like Debenhams where you can try samples to see what suits. ,

I think I looked OK when I was 58, looking back at photos. Never goodlooking, but OK with good skin. Quite surprising!
14 years on hmm perhaps if I had an eye lift it would help grin

Less is more these days, in fact in summer I only wear moisturiser (Clarins) and some blusher (Clinique) plus lipstick (whatever) if I'm going out, although my eyebrows and lashes are disappearing fast and need a bit of enhancement.

Anya Mon 03-Jul-17 21:35:48

If you don't want to wear make up that has been tested on animals (and why should you want to wear something that's been squirted into rabbits eyes and ears?) then this blue link is completely up to date as of July 2017

Jalima1108 Mon 03-Jul-17 21:36:09

I must investigate Bare Minerals - I thought it was that powder cum foundation which people started using which turned out to be a type of talcum powder. Perhaps I've got it wrong.

Jalima1108 Mon 03-Jul-17 21:37:47

Oh!
I thought Clarins were more ethical than that

Caro1954 Mon 03-Jul-17 22:12:00

Thanks for that Anya - I thought my choice had not been tested on animals. I shall be looking elsewhere in future.

Anya Tue 04-Jul-17 15:53:08

That's good to hear Caro - that you'll be going more ethical.

I find it is always best tp pay a bit more for foundation now I am in my 60s , I love the Clinique and the Estee Lauder ones (around £30 ) everything else I buy middle priced ones as they all seem to do the same thing . I will never stop wearing make up because I feel so much better and younger when I have some colour in my face . Boots will do a make up session on you for free with no obligation and try different products and colours .

Am a big fan of the Look Fabulous Forever products and have posted a comment on the thread "Makeup".

dahlia Mon 25-Sept-17 20:11:51

Thanks for the information about animal testing - how unethical can these luxury brands be? I shall be looking elsewhere for my cosmetics now, no more Clinique or Clarins. Tried the LFF products, foundation had a nasty fishy smell, lipstick good but in flimsy plastic package - reminded me of something I might have bought at the market in my early teens! flowers

Jalima I need a lift to many more things than eyes!?

lemongrove Mon 25-Sept-17 20:23:05

Barry M lipsticks are very good, long lasting.
