Wondering what you put on your faces ?. These days I tend to use a tinted
moisturiser for work and that's it. When going out I tend to put on foundation, mascara and lipstick, sometimes bronzer . I used to put on eye liner but it's such a palaver with the magnified mirror I got fed up lol....also I like Laura Mercier products, do you have a particular favourite?

Always the facial oil and moisturiser. Then a light foundation, cream blusher, black eye pencil, mascara, lip pencil, lippie. No particular brands apart from the mascara. I've used Max Factor 2000 Calorie for years, and would definitely recommend, gillybob. I've a box full of other stuff that I rarely use (highlighters etc).

I love eye shadow, but was warned off it because of my contact lenses, so only use it on big nights out.

My dil swears by that 2000 cal mascara too.She will never buy any other.
Make up can look completely different depending on how you apply it and what "tools" you use to apply it with. For foundation to look natural and be lightly applied I use a bright orange gear drop shaped sponge that is slightly damp , it spreads the foundation evenly and gives a light finish as long as you don't apply too much that is . I find a pea sized drop is enough

Imperfect. How sad that your parents' critical comments still affect you now. If you'd like to wear makeup and be more confident in its application why don't you pop into, say, your local boots and have your makeup done? If you go during the week when they're not busy it should be a relaxing, fun time.

Goodness me, you lot are amazing. I conside that I am pushing the boat out if I have a wash and a scented squirt of something.

harrysgran Thu 27-Jul-17 10:51:55

When I have time I like the full works serum moisturiser bronzer eye primer eye shadow eye liner mascara lipstick lip gloss max factor ageless elixir is my favourite foundation it doesn't sit in the wrinkles and gives great coverage I and my two DDs are all makeup addicts and are always trying out new products I think if you enjoy using it great but if not then go with the natural look as I've grown older and especially when I hit my 60s it gives me a bit of a boost and I feel confident

glammanana Thu 27-Jul-17 11:01:41

During the day I always wear Pure BB cream in "fair" as it suits my blonde colouring perfectly and lasts 6/7 hours Aldi Black Mascara which is the best I have found after being told about it on GN finished off with Soap&Glory Lip Gloss all easy and keeps me looking human to some extent.

Doreen5 Thu 27-Jul-17 11:02:21

Serum, moisturiser, eyebrow pencil, a little eye shadow, creme blusher and moisturising lipstick. 6 minutes in total. Have never used foundation - yet!

gillybob Thu 27-Jul-17 11:06:11

My DGD pinched my Soap & Glory lip-gloss glamma She said it made her lips feel all tingly (sadly I never got chance to try it).

Thanks for the mascara recommendation Maggiemaybe I will look out for it this weekend. smile

I use Bobby Brown Tinted moisturising balsam which I can't recommend highly enough , a bit more than a tinted moisturiser but less than foundation. Saw great idea for eyeliner which is if u use it run it just inside top lid , makes your eyes look great but no black lines are visible , I use a YSL felt tip liner and it sits in wet area all day , very subtle . Run the thinnest line in lash area on bottom of eye , get eyebrows dyed light brown as can always see pencil marks on friends ,

annabelindajane Thu 27-Jul-17 11:27:33

BTW - Sunday Riley moisturisers and good genes therapy are great products - expensive but good for 3, months if running up to a big event and u want your skin glowing which seems to be the buzz word now

Clear moisturiser, eye makeup (I wear glasses). A touch of concealer under the eyes as my prescription eye drops have darkened the skin there. I always wear makeup. Once my DH said 'why are you wearing makeup, no ones going to see you today?' I said yes they are, me.

I do experiment with eye make and recently threw out many that I have cast aside. It is difficult finding a good grey eyebrow pencil. There is a chain of hairdressers in France that sell Peggy Sage eye makeup with a perfect Gris, so I buy one when on holiday there. I have several in stock!

I haven't worn face powder since in my teens and prefer a natural look. I hate that 'face in a sack of flour' look, some women sport. Although I am sure you ladies have the perfect light touch.

I use Younique BiBi Cream, it gives a lovely light coverage and a dewy finish. I use Younique Bronzer, Eyebrow pencil, brownish shadow (just in the crease) eyeliner, Mascara, highlighter & lip bon bon.

I tend to use foundation lipstick eyeshadow, liner mascara. I was worrying that my foundation was making me look older so I went to .boots to try the Bare Minerals one. I was worried that it would look powdery but no, it is brilliant! Hardly looks like make up but covers up the thread veins shadows etc. Think I am converted now!

I'm a full-face-of-makeup woman too, although it's all a lot less heavy than in my younger days. Lots of moisturiser, and either Estee Lauder 24-hour foundation or a mineral powder which gives a light covering and also hides blemishes. Always, always mascara and eyeshadow, and these days the eyebrows need help. When I say help, I mean finding! Blusher or bronzer and a light pink lipstick. I have it all down to a fine art and can wash my hair, dry and straighten it and put my face on in half an hour. My husband is quite impressed!

O use make up every day of I'm going out of the house, I give my face a rest of staying I doors, just use a facial cleansing wipe and moisturiser. For going out I use a bit of concealer (to cover/disguise she spots)then Laura Geller Balance and Brighten mineral powder foundation (bought from QVC or Ebay) which gives a light, natural coverage, then eye shadow (various makes, but do love the Laura Geller ones)and then Max Factor mascara (waterproof) Laura Geller blusher, bronzer, or highlighted as I think on the day/season. I finish off with a slick of natural colour lipstick/gloss, any make, whatever I see that I like. It all takes 10 to 15 minutes max. Then I'm ready to go.

maddyone Thu 27-Jul-17 11:37:36

I use......

Bobbie Brown tinted moisturising balm. Amazing.

sandelf78a Thu 27-Jul-17 11:54:08

I'm an outdoorsy, thread veiny blonde of 68 - so lots to deal with. Use a micro fibre cloth (fine) for cleaning. Dye lashes every 6 weeks (otherwise look baldy). Use 'The Ordinary' and 'Niod' odds and ends - goods results. After daughters wedding where I had a professional 'face paint' - I have learnt that any 'colour' is better dotted from the back of your hand and blended in with a brush just as if painting - matches better, does not sit in lines and blends in.

lovebeigecardigans1955 Thu 27-Jul-17 11:56:05

When I was young, insecure about my looks and worried about other people's opinions of me I wore the whole lot - foundation, blusher, lipstick, eye-shadow, mascara and lipstick.
Now (in my early 60s) I don't bother except for eyebrow pencil (brows almost non-existent due to over-enthusiastic plucking/chemo) and lip-salve, sometimes lipstick if I'm going somewhere a bit special - not very often. Do we really need all that gunk? I try to make sure my untinted hair is well styled and I wear fancy earrings - I don't fear ageing but I don't want to look like a bulldog.

Craftycat Thu 27-Jul-17 12:16:37

CC cream has been a revelation for me- I used to use Bare Minerals powder foundation but I find CC cream gives a lovely soft finish in half the time.

I do use a blusher & I wear eye makeup every day - the works. 3 shadows, eye liner, mascara (eyelash curlers)eyebrow pencil. I have not been out of the house without makeup since I was 15 years old & hopefully never will!

I have recently converted to using Tropic facial products- all natural with no chemicals- not tested on animals & cheaper than the make I was using previously. They smell divine too. I am very impressed by how much better my skin is looking. Unfortunately you cannot buy them in the shops yet but it is no trouble to order online. I order from a girl the other end of the country to me & they get here the next day. Excellent products.

Imperfect27 Thu 27-Jul-17 12:24:56

Oriel thanks for the kind suggestion. I have found my comfort zone and can look back with a wry smile at my parent's comments. They meant the best. I have had full make-up professionally done for my own and subsequent weddings, attended Avon and other make-up parties over the years and learned by trial and error what colour work for me ... When I was fifteen, I attended a 'Making the Most of Yourself' Duke of Edinbrugh course ... funny to look back on that.
I will never forget when an older work colleague mischievously asked me if I had been in a fight after I explored a 'purple and plum' eyeshadow palette for the first time, aged 18!
If I am with DD, who is very confident and manages to do wonderful things with her eyes - beautiful anyway and definitely gilding the lily, but still impressive - then I happily hand over the reins to her. Part of the problem for me is that I am extremely short-sighted and magnifying mirrors tend to distort so I tend to squint and make the best of it - then go for repair once I put my specs back on! grin grin grin
