Wondering what you put on your faces ?. These days I tend to use a tinted
moisturiser for work and that's it. When going out I tend to put on foundation, mascara and lipstick, sometimes bronzer . I used to put on eye liner but it's such a palaver with the magnified mirror I got fed up lol....also I like Laura Mercier products, do you have a particular favourite?

When I'm working it's either foundation or, if it's hot, tinted moisturiser. Eye liner , mascara and lipstick but a lot wears off and I just don't have time to reapply during the day. I recently spent quite a bit on some bare minerals foundation and powder but it doesn't last all day either and then I look soooo washed out. Any recommendations for foundation that lasts ?

Most days I wear foundation, concealer, lipgloss and mascara. Always use SP15 moisturiser from Aldi!

I've been thinking about buying Look Fabulous Forever (LFF) makeup but the thought of spending c.£100 in one go paralyses me!

Then I read on LFF's owner's blog that she lives in London, has a house in the south of France and has just bought herself a new sports car (either BMW or Merc, can't remember). So, I got to thinking that I resent paying a lot of money to fund that kind of life style!

Have any Gransnetters used LFF products and would you recommend?

AIBU to be put off buying the products that really may be fabulous and do what they say on the tin?!

Every single day ! Clarins moisturiser, Tinted in winter, Lancome Mascara - is the best ever, Benefit Bronzer, Revlon Chubby Eye Pencil, which is so quick easy to use, & Revlon Chubby Stick Lipstick. I couldn't be without Revlon Chubby Sticks! This takes about 5 minutes!

KirbyGirl Thu 27-Jul-17 13:19:36

I like the idea of '5 minutes' Barleysugar!
I have a Boots No 7 Pop & Glow Cream blush which is very quick and looks natural.

Tinted moisturiser most of the time, unless I'm going to an event, then I use BB cream with the usual eyeshadow/mascara etc. Have stopped using lipstick however and just use a tinted lip balm, much softer on the lips. I like to look as natutal as possible with a bit of help!

Atm I am using Aldi moisturiser with SPF, a bit of LFF concealer under the eyes and on a couple of blemishes and maybe a bit of brown eye pencil across top of eyes.
To go out I use LFF primers then a BB cream, concealer, LFF highlighter, bit of blush, shadow and eye pencil. Not usually mascara as I get panda eyes. I also have eyebrow mascara for grey days. I prefer a lip gloss but usually stick to a bit of vaseline.

On the days I leave the house I wear makeup , Clinique foundation, eyeliner in a colour ie blue green or grey under my eyes , body shop eye shadow in a grey or taupe , Clinique mascara and various colours of lipstick . Always cleanse and moisturise every day . I would love to try a different foundation but it is too expensive to make a mistake and the makeover girls in Boots only use the ones they are selling on their own counters . I am very pale with reddish hair, and look washed out and old without makeup !

Tessa101 Thu 27-Jul-17 13:39:20

Moisturise, bronzer, eyebrow brush, mascara powder blush pale lipstick. Most days

gillyknits Thu 27-Jul-17 13:48:04

I have just discovered 'Maybelline Brow Precise' brow mascara. My eyebrows have gone white and disappeared. I think brows define the face so I use it every time I go out,. I used to have white eyebrows when I was six and didn't like the look even then!!

DeeWBW Thu 27-Jul-17 13:54:41

I'm naked withuit earrings and lipstick. Nothing else matters.

LuckyFour Thu 27-Jul-17 14:15:29

I you want a lipstick which lasts all day use Max Factor Lipfinity. I have been using it for quite a while and never leave the house without putting it on, similarly serum and moisturiser. The lipstick is £10.99 and doesn't last anywhere near as long as an ordinary lipstick but you can put it on in the morning and forget about it for the rest of the day.
I also use hazel coloured eyebrow pencil (I am very blonde), eyeliner, mascara and a pale green or light brown eye shadow. For dressing up occasions a tinted foundation.

JaneD3 Thu 27-Jul-17 14:27:11

I do my eyes first then the foundation. That way, if you make a mistake with the mascara you don't have to start all over again! Top from the duty free girls on a long ferry crossing smile

I use the face prime, eye prime, foundation and blusher, and some others, all excellent quality and value, would highly recommend. Her make up videos are also very good if you want to update your look. If you don't want to buy a set, try one thing and get on her mailing list, there's usually a weekly offer where you buy 3 things and get a4th half price or free. In the summer I blend a squirt of the face prime with a small squirt of the foundation, gives me perfect natural day long coverage.

Marianne1953 Thu 27-Jul-17 15:11:44

Make up has never been my forte, so I rarely wear it.

Lupatria Thu 27-Jul-17 15:17:00

i use garnier pure and natural facial wipes on my face and neck - never soap and water. i follow that with m&s royal jelly and honey moisuriser.
generally when i'm at home i don't wear makeup but when i go out i generally use collection makeup - foundation and powder in the winter plus blusher plus eyeshadow, eyeliner and mascara.
i usually emphasise my eyes as i wear glasses - found that tip in a magazine years ago and it works.
and the pure and natural facial wipes also work for removing the makeup.
i've used all these for years - i've also used expensive brands and have never found that paying more makes any difference.

When I had an office job in the UK I would wear full make-up. Now that I live in rural France and are mostly outside for work, I usually only wear Liz Earle moisturiser. If I'm going to the big town for shopping (not groceries) then I will put on some mascara and lip gloss. If we (rarely) go out for dinner then I will wear eye shadow, lipstick, Benefit's Porefessional to smooth my colouring and pores and a touch of bronzer. I haven't tried buying make up in France so I do my purchasing online from Benefit and Liz Earle.
Teetime you could look at QVC (online or their TV channels) for brands like Laura Mercier and you can try them for a couple of weeks and if you don't like them you can return them and get your money back. They also have videos on how to use different items for the best results.

Cosafina Thu 27-Jul-17 16:13:52

Bare Minerals BB cream
Ultraglow (that I've had for more than 20 years) blusher
Bobbi Brown/Clinique eye shadow
Bobbi Brown eyeliner
Bobbie Brown or Bare Minerals lipstick
Takes about 10 mins
I think I look better with it all on, but just today got home to find lipstick up above my lips, on my top lip. How does that happen when I left the house immaculate??

Smithy Thu 27-Jul-17 18:27:59

Interesting that many GNs use the upmarket brands. I always wear light foundation, eye pencil mascara lippy and a touch powder but usually cheaper brands. Think I might try some better brands in my old age. I love the sound of Revlon chubby sticks - must look at those thanks barleysugar

On the rare occasions when I'm not going anywhere in particular I don't wear make-up but 99% of the time I wear it. Olay moisturiser, Superdrug primer, Max Factor foundation and mascara, Corn Silk powder, M&S eye shadow, l'Oreal eyebrow wax, one of my selections of lipstick. At bedtime I remove eye make-up with Garner Micellar water and then use Superdrug's Melting gel cleanser with a face cloth and warm water. In the morning I wipe over with Micellar water on a cotton wool pad. At the moment it's the Micellar water with oil. It's gentle and soothing and not expensive. I have rosy cheeks, have never dared to wear blusher. Sometimes I use Garnier BB cream rather than foundation.

As a bit of a troglodyte about make up, what's the difference between moisturiser, tinted moisturiser, and foundation? I like the idea of tinted moisturiser, but don't know where to start - what brands would you recommend? The last face make-up I bought was a BB cream from Garnier (read about it in a magazine) but I find it rather thick and heavy. All advice welcome

Theoddbird Thu 27-Jul-17 19:49:07

Moisturizer, foundation, eyeliner, eye shadow and mascara. One has to make an effort...hahaha

Grannynise Thu 27-Jul-17 19:52:27

I'm so impressed with you all - it's as much as I can do to cleanse and moisturise. I put some brown pencil on lower and upper eyelids ... evidently it's now called finelining. I use Chanel - extravagant but as it's all I use it feel the expense is justified.

Nvella Thu 27-Jul-17 20:25:19

Love everything about make up - the buying, the applying - the lot. Don't wear it every day but it takes me about 15 mins and I do the lot!

Deedaa Thu 27-Jul-17 21:41:31

I use a moisturiser from Aldi and in winter I use their BB cream on top. In the summer I like Benefit's Dew the Hoola which gives a matt tan finish. I've got a mousse blusher I bought in Aldi years ago and I use a tiny bit of it.
