Recently tried Aveeno which was great but a bit too oily on my skin.

Open to any suggestions!

Is it for your face or body? If face try Clinique Moisture Surge - its lovely.

Raw, unrefined Virgin coconut oil every time! May seem too greasy when you apply it, but it soon disappears. No chemicals, no perfumes, no irritants and reasonably priced - especially as a little goes a very long way!

I love Aveena but Clinique is lovely but expensive

I've recently been using just organic coconut oil for moisturiser. I did use M&s age replenish till I was allergic to a hair product and had a sore face for a while and couldn't put anything on my face or it would sting, it got soooo dry I just had to put something on......coconut oil was suggested....honestly, it's marvellous....so I carried on using it....

Big fan of Nivea Q10 here .

I have found that the best moisturiser for dry skin is the avoidance of soap. Any soap. Even simple, fragrance-free soap. I use aqueous cream rather than soap as much as possible and have daily stand up washes rather than showers or baths. It has made a huge difference. So much so that I no longer need any other moisturiser.

I've always had dry skin but it has never been less trouble than it is now. I have concluded that excessive stripping away of natural skin oils, which is what soap and related products (body washes, shower gels, etc) do is the main exacerbater of dry skin so if we didn't do that we wouldn't need to replenish them so much. That is certainly my experience anyway.

Now, if I could just find some way to avoid using shampoo (Boots baby shampoo and not every day), I reckon I'd solve my itchy neck hairline as well. Ideas welcome.

That's interesting Baggs. Do you use a flannel or something to wipe the cream away? My skin is incredibly dry and even coconut oil doesn't seem to be making much difference. Might give aqueous cream a go.

Nivea Q10 for me too. I used to find Nivea products a bit to greasy but they have either changed the ingredients or my skin is drying out! It's great and a good price too...

I use a small towel, LyndaW. I think that deals with any required exfoliation! And a hot wash when required deals with the towel. Good luck.

I use Nivea Light Moisturising Day Cream, alone or under make up. Sometimes my skin is so dry it feels tight. This also has an SPF 15 in it.

I always have a tub of Nivea So Soft ( very cheap) around the place, use it on face, neck, hands, everywhere in fact, it's great.
