Lipstick (again, groan)

Not a good look for us oldies though!?

Even when I was 16 the just kissed look was never a good one. More the smeared halfway up your face look

Looking for tips on this theme please. How does one keep lipstick on? I've tried blotting and gloss (mmmm.......) topcoat all to no avail. Even after all these years I'm still a complete failure with this. Lipstick companies make a fortune out of me on the re-application front! Help!

Kim19, Lipcote will keep lipstick in place for hours. It is liquid and you apply it with the brush attached to the screw cap. You can get it from Boots.

The Max Factor liquid lipstick is also good. It does dry the lips so it is important to use the stick of moisturiser they provide. Sorry I’ve forgotten the name.

The Max Factor lipstick is called Lipfinity.

My DH calls me Madam Meducer if I wear lipstick, so I avoid it except for fancy dress.

Agree, Jane43 - Lipcote is just the answer:always works under any conditions.

Before I discovered it I always managed to look as if I'd been slapped in the mouth with a messy jam sandwich, no matter how good the quality of the lipstick.

I may well have fallen for this silliness when I was younger, after all I used to devour all the advice given on this subject. Not now, though as I'm older and wiser (!)
This how I learned to apply lipstick, 1. Put on lips, blot on tissue, 2. Apply once more, blot again. 3. Apply Lipcote, ignore tingling - it should be temporary.
When you have a cup of tea though, you always seem to leave a bit of lipstick on the rim of the cup, which looks repulsive. I only wear it for special occasions.

I have been using Max Factor Lipfinity for more years than I can count. It stays on through anything, usually still visible the next morning!

I apply foundation to my lips when using it over the rest of my face. I then apply lip liner then lipstick. It lasts all day till I remove it, even after eating although a little comes off then. I used to use Lipcote but that does change the colour of the lipstick a bit.

Re the article and 'your favourite shade of scarlet' any shade of red lipstick makes me look like a vampire and it can make your teeth look yellow especially as teeth age. I like raspberry shades- Clarins, Clinique, Lancôme, Chanel and Dior all seem to have staying power.

As well as Lipfinity, Maybelline do a good one ,also Loreal, but they can feel a bit sticky
I use the Maybelline one usually as ordinary lipstick does:nt last on me either

I used to work with someone who's lipstick always looked as if she had just applied it. I asked her how she managed it as mine never lasted two minutes it seemed like. She told me to stop licking my lips. It works.

Have just been to a Boots attending a make up appointment on the No 7 counter. They photographed the skin on my face and advised on the foundation and lipstick colours. I chose a lipstick with the matching lip liner. I do not do foundation I like their tinted moisturizer City Light I already have lip cote so hope that this will keep my Christmas festive evenings lippy secure on my lips.

hate to see women whip out their mirror and apply lipstick in public. I must be very old fashioned!

I remember reading an article many years ago which said that you could tell a person's personality by the shape of their used lipstick. Unfortunately, I can't remember which lipstick shapes related to which personality type!

I'm delighted to have found Boots Natural Collection does not travel all over my face and I no longer need a lipliner to apply it (Just as well as Clinique has discontinued the one I liked). Raspberry is my favourite colour and seems a bit creamier than the other couple I've tried. Only complaint is that the price has rocketed from £1/99 to £2.49 in a year! Oh and I've been advised that licking the rim (discreetly) of your cup before drinking prevents leaving a lipstick mark. Seems to work. Depends which you think is the most gross action of the two...

Gave up using make up years ago. Decided that if the real me is upsetting for people, then they can look the other way!

Who needs a mirror to apply lippy Morgana ?

I tend to stick with peachy neutral shades, there are some fabulous ones around this season and could never wear a very bright colour.
