I agree, why go to the bother of dressing a housebound person every day? Just washing face and hands and changing clothes evert 2-3 days should do unless the person is incontinent.

Myself, my older sister, and some of my friends (early 70's) all have pj days - if not going anywhere and it's cold and/or wet, we may not bother to get dressed. Might still do housework, or might not. However I would never go shopping in pj's, although I have seen some young mothers with small children in our local shop in that state (buying fags and milk)!

Some supermarkets have banned people in pyjamas, but I often think a man in a T shirt and jogging bottoms looks more indecent!

Whenever I buy a new pair of pyjamas I choose ones with bottoms that would look OK (like tartan) being worn while doing housework or just curling up on the sofa. I don't like dressing gowns so in the winter I put on a large jumper as soon as I get up then I'm sorted until I need to have a shower and get dressed because I'm going out.

I totally agree with supermarkets banning people in pyjamas. How much effort does it take to get dressed and make yourself look presentable?

I don't see it does much harm, really. Its difficult to tell these days what is a pyjama, what is 'lounge wear' and what's sports clothing.

I cannot imagine anything worse. I like to get up, shower and get into day time clothes every morning. The thought of wandering round the house all day in clothes I had been sleeping in makes me feel quite ill.

It is a question of self-respect and if I was old and infirm (well, I am old, but not infirm), being left in my night clothes all day would soon send me into a deep depression and feeling that death was the better alternative.

I am very comfortable in my day clothes. I have never understood why anyone would choose to wear clothes they are not comfortable in.

O dear, perhaps I lack self respect. My day clothes are comfortable too, and sometimes there's not much difference between them and pj's - in fact if I am very tired I sometimes just take my top layers off and crawl into bed. I don't always wear a bra unless I am going to see friends, because if I have a vest on it seems to hold my bust in place well enough.
Is it so shocking to relax in your own home, alone?

You can relax as much at home in comfortable day clothes as in night clothes. I couldn't relax at all, knowing I was still wearing the clothes I had slept in.

I only have a PJ day if I'm feeling really unwell.
Last time I had a stay in hospital, patients were encouraged to dress each morning if they were able. It was supposed to boost moral and speed recovery.
I wouldn't critisise those that do stay in PJ's it's just not for me. I'm not one of those that puts on their PJ's as soon as they arrive home in the evening either.

I've some lovely PJ's that I love to curl up in on the sofa after a long day at work. However I never actually sleep in them. Would find the trousers far too hot in bed.

I don't sleep in PJ's or a nightie, so I think if I wandered around during the day in my sleep suit, there might be a bit of consternation lol.
I won one pair of pyjamas and they're kept in the drawer for when I'm in hospital which has been fairly frequent in the last couple of years, but I don't wear them at home.

However I do wear straight bottomed jogging pants and a tunic top at home, i find them very comfortable, not at all restricting, but I wouldn't wear them to go out of the house.

I agree with what Monica says. To take it a step further does anyone like else have three sets of clothes - nightwear, clothes for in the house and clothes for going out? I always change into my indoor clothes when I get in - old stuff that does not ever need ironing. It also means the outtdoor stuff lasts longer before it needs a wash.
