Who designed your dress for your engagement photographs and how much did it cost?
It seems to be the fashion to disclose such facts.

I know that the dress cost in the region of £1,700+ so for me to say that it was under £2k was correct as I couldn't remember the exact figure.
I was merely correcting another post which said that the dress was over £200. smile

Yes that was me, I obviously read the wrong newspapers!

We were both wearing pyjamas when we got engaged.

My paper said £1,200 ish, I think. It was a lot of money - which is what I think was part of ann's point. The exact amount wasn't important enough to query!

We never got engaged.

I had a friend with whom I lost touch, we were all sitting round in a student flat in the early 70s, one of the group was showing us his old, lovingly cared for camera.
My friend and her boyfriend were off in her bedroom, when he burst out, all smiles, saying 'she's agreed to marry me!'. The amateur photographer went to the doorway and caught a fantastic picture of her, on the bed, wrapped in a sheet, and her now-fiancee standing just inside the room, he just caught a glance between them.

All of you will remember the days when you had to wait for the photo to be developed, and when we saw it, we said 'that's one for the grandkids'. I hope, wherever they are, that they have grandkids to show it to.

Similar story here, Wilma. Though we were planning on going abroad to live together, so escaped the disapproval. smile Sadly, I never got a ring, though I'm happy to say I've still got the man 40 years later.

What a good job there were no photographers around, eh? wink

grin. The irony is my parents were separated at the time as their divorce wasn't through and when I told my Mum we were going to live together she said it was a good idea and helped us find a flat! grin When I told my Dad he said "What did your mother say?" grin
