I have a large brown pigmented spot, the size of a 5p piece , on my cheek. I really hate the sight of it and spend ages every morning trying to cover it up. I am thinking of having laser treatment to remove it. Has anyone done this and is it successful? Will I have to keep out of the sun to stop it returning. Advice please!

Good idea, Polyester. I'm going to try that. Thanks.

I recently went on the advice of my GP to the dermatology department of the hospital with an itchy lesion on my cheek. The specialist was more concerned about a brown spot the size of a fifty pence piece on my other cheek. Have had biopsies on both spots and am now awaiting results.

Sorry. Five pence piece.

I have a similar sized red mark on my cheek which I've had for years - I cover it each morning but half an hour later it's visible again. It's not an age spot but it's come with age sad I did once go to a beauty therapy clinic and had some sort of laser treatment but they said I'd need several sessions - wasn't sure if that was to reduce the redness or make me beautiful grin Needless to say I've not been back!

I had patch lasered 1 month ago. Very pleased with result. Can only be done if you have no tan, otherwise you have to wait until the autumn/winter! Well worth it!!

Not the same, I know, but one of my granddaughters was born with a birthmark on one side of her forehead and as she got older she began to be really self-conscious about it. So she had it removed (in Manila, where they live) and it worked like a dream. She just played on her iPad all through it, I believe.

My son has a birthmark on his back about 4 inches diameter which is very white and never tans.

I have also had a pigmentation mark on my cheek for approx 10 years. Little larger than my thumbnail. Because it is in such a prominent area I have tried many so called fading potions and lotions! ie. Eucerin, Murad, Ordinary, many others, tumeric, lemon juice, bicarbinate of soda., bleach - from 3% to 12%. Had IPL - 3 sessions (little fading). Over counter freeze spray. Just used Bazuka last night and had to remove after a few mins because of stinging. Don't know if to try again tonight? Any advice welcome. Cannot afford Dermatologist.
