Age spots

I have similar on face,hands and arms.......the result of too much tanning at an earlier age.I have not heard of anyone turning to laser treatment to remove same so on that point I cannot offer you any advice.
However there are many various creams available in many of todays facial creams specifically to help dimninish or eradicate these "brown spots",too many in fact to mention but certainly well worth exploring if you have not already gone down this route.
Your local chemist or Make up counter would be a place to start asking these questions.

You will probably need more than a cosmetic cream to make any difference. Go to see a dermatologist. Just ring up a clinic or salon that deals with these spots and get their advice. It shouldn’t cost you anything for a chat.
Unfortunately they will be caused by sun damage and you will only exacerbate the pigmentation spots if you go out without sun protection. Even when it’s not sunny the UVA and UVB rays are there ready to destroy ?

Some of these cosmetic creams are designed to "lift" the colour from these age spots,not disguise at all.
I knowfrom personal usage,they are not perfect but they certainly do help.

Whilst I totally agree about the usage of sun protection for every month of the year, as the added damage only adds to the existing problem.

There are plenty of ideas on these age spots and how to get rid of them on "pinterest" but I've not tried them myself.
I have a big one on my cheek too but don't worry about it unless I'm going to a special do and try to blend it in with make up.

I have recently posted on the many uses of bicarbonate of soda. Mixed with water into a paste and applied it is supposed to minimize liver spots and other skin blemishes. Am still at a very early stage so cannot guarantee results. But it won´t do any harm.

I have one on each cheek. I asked the dermatologist if he'd remove them, but he said that if he did, I would then have white spots instead of brown ones. I couldn't see the point - so I just use concealer on them and they disappear.

I have so many age spots, but the ones on my hands really bother me. I have tried lasering them, but the results for me were not worth the money ($700). I've also used Ambi dark spot cream which had fairly good results but the spots do come back. The best I have found is Aveda Hand Relief Night Renewal Serum. This has really worked well. I'm still using it so don't know if the spots will come back after I finish the bottle, but my hands look so much better.

I have a couple of small ones on my hands . I treat them with No7 Age Corrector ( I think that’s what it’s called). It doesn’t remove them but it does fade them significantly .

We all have them so why worry? The only way of not having these things is to just not grow old and if you get rid of one age spot there will undoubtedly be another one coming right behind.

Grans with respectable minds, please look away now, but whoever decided to label a cream 'hand relief' clearly had no sense of humour.

I've had laser treatment for sun damage on my face. It didn't work. I spent a week out of the sun after the treatment, very difficult to do when you live in a sunny country, with a scabby face and the result was very disappointing, no change whatsoever.

I've tried various home treatments, but so far, nothing's worked. I think I'll give the No7 Age Corrector a try. Thanks NanaandGrampy.

Have the worry of skin cancer like me & any liver spots turn into insignificance. Be thankful your blemishes are just that & nothing more serious to worry about.

lovebooks, I nearly disgraced myself when I 'spotted' the said product in Selfridges! I couldn't summon the courage to ask for a trial.

I had my facial age spot lasered at a dermatologist’s, at the same tine as some thread veins done on the other cheek, as I was getting re-married. It removed completely both the thread veins and the age spot (it was thumb nail size) This was 2 years ago and I’ve not been as careful as I should and they’ve started to come back a bit. He recommended Heliocare Colour Gelcream SPF 50 which gives great coverage and I could use it in the lasered areas straight away. This was 2 years ago and I’m afraid I haven’t been as careful as I should and they’ve started to come back a bit. (He said I must use 50 SPF year round and I’ve been remiss. My own fault)

Oh and I see I’m repeating myself LOL

I have one and my MIL tried to remove it as she thought it was a dirty mark. Doesn't bother me in the slightest as I also have wrinkles, crooked teeth, and saggy arms and wrinkly knees. You come as a package, so you may as well embrace all the little bits and pieces of imperfection as everyone has them. x

annab My littlest DGS keeps trying to pick up my many beauty spots (okay, moles), particularly the one on my knee. At least it shows he’s got decent eyesight.

I had one on my cheek really hated it so went to see my GP who sent me to a local nhs clinic to have it removed. Perfect no pain a red mark left that faded away in about 3 weeks.
