I love Megan’s style but oh my goodness what has she got on at wedding in Lincolnshire (the bride looked fabulous) it looks as if possibly the shower curtain got wrapped around her and there wasn’t time to get it off, maybe she has been told to cover up more but ye gods, it swamps her, obviously she likes it because she is wearing it, but in my humble opinion a no no☹️

But Laura Ashley dresses were ditsy ? The one’s I wore did .

Did you click to the next picture of another Spencer cousin in a large floral number? Maybe it was a fancy dress wedding!

SueDonim Sun 17-Jun-18 18:46:29

Yes, LA dresses were ditsy but they had loads of flounces and frills and gathers - a lot of fabric, like Meghan's dress.

Actually, her dress fabric reminds me of that French toile fabric that was fashionable for bedrooms at one time.

Oh! I've just had a look at The Dress and I have a bedspread in a very similar pattern on the spare bed - in fact, I'd better check when I go upstairs that it's still there
shock
and that looks like the tie that DH had for DD's wedding.

Something borrowed .....

Jalima1108 Sun 17-Jun-18 23:08:49

And I'm not apologising to anyone on this thread who knows her/is a friend/ is related to her.
That's OK, I realise I shouldn't have invited them to stay last weekend

Horrible is the only way i would describe the dress. Bon Marche had a summer top in stock in a similar material and exactly the same same colour. I thought when i saw it in the store it looked a bit old fashioned and this dress looks like someones curtains made into an outfit.I didnt like the dress she wore for the Queen's offical birthday either, off the shoulder number i felt was inappropriate for the occasion.

Why are a bunch of old women being so critical of a beautiful young woman's choice of dress. Hate to say the B word..but you do sound it! You also all sound like my gran when I went out in my hot pants!

maryeliza54 Mon 18-Jun-18 08:15:27

We are being critical because it is a horrible dress. And what do you mean by the b word?

Nannylovesshopping Mon 18-Jun-18 08:30:54

PECS not so much of the old? threads about clothes out and about are often on here, Megan, I think always looks amazing, and often applauded on this site, just not this time, and have to say, not been called a bitch for many a year?

maryeliza54 Mon 18-Jun-18 08:33:26

Was that the b word PECS - then why? Why?

Anniebach Mon 18-Jun-18 08:34:47

i didn’t wear hot pants when I was 36.

Anniebach Mon 18-Jun-18 08:36:17

I am not a B, my parents were married a year before I was born ?

ffinnochio Mon 18-Jun-18 08:50:55

Thought Megan looked fabulous. Bit of a risky choice, but thought she pulled it off well.

Teetime Mon 18-Jun-18 08:51:41

I loved all my Laura Ashley dresses and in fact love to wear dresses so now its White Stuff, Boden and Hobbs for best for me.

PECS Mon 18-Jun-18 09:06:56

I was thinking of bitchy! annie What has age got to do with it? Older women being hypercritical of other younger women's dress choice, even a public target like Dof S , when it is about style I find unkind. Not that D of S will give a toss! grin for our opinions!

Alexa Mon 18-Jun-18 09:10:48

I liked the severity of Meghan's wedding dress. It was appropriate to a religious service. It was unsentimental as befits a modern woman . The neckline is medieval circling the head and shoulders and is concealingly modest while acknowledging an unusual historical precedent.

Alexa Mon 18-Jun-18 09:12:52

Sorry, I just realised this thread refers to some wedding other than her own.

Anniebach Mon 18-Jun-18 09:15:47

PECS, you brought age into the discussion,

Grandma70s Mon 18-Jun-18 09:29:51

I don't really care what she wears. It’s of no importance. The dress looked OK, and I think it’s probably beautiful floaty silk, which doesn’t really show in photos.

PECS Mon 18-Jun-18 09:48:00

Gosh did I? I thought I talked about older / younger but you annie mentioned the number 36! wink Really not an important enough subject to get picky about! Life and death ..but a dress no!

Zorro21 Mon 18-Jun-18 09:50:36

That dress with the willow pattern on was absolutely horrible on her. It did her no favours at all.

On her wedding day Meghan looked absolutely breathtaking in both dresses she chose.

And it is not bitchy to say so. Are we not allowed opinions ?

Anniebach Mon 18-Jun-18 09:56:27

PECS, you called posters on this thread - a bunch of old women, not older women.

merlotgran Mon 18-Jun-18 10:07:03

I don't think the fashion industry would be very impressed if the public didn't comment on dresses worn by high profile young women. If cover all, floaty dresses becomes the trend that follows shorter, more sculpted garments then there will be plenty to discuss - and why not if you enjoy looking at fashion?

DD will be at Ascot on Ladies Day. Her outfit is lovely and I will be glued to the telly on Thursday hoping to catch a glimpse and compare her 'get up' to all the others.

Parsley3 Mon 18-Jun-18 10:24:53

I am fond of a long floaty dress but I think the groom’s suit could have been a better fit. It looked a bit tight to me.

maddyone Mon 18-Jun-18 10:30:11

I agree with everyone on here who didn’t like the dress. In my opinion it was awful, far too big, the sleeves were too long, the hat didn’t compliment the dress, the whole outfit was dreadful. Such a shame as she normally looks fabulous. Whoever has advised her with this outfit should be told.
