All about the dress again, oh no!

I love Megan’s style but oh my goodness what has she got on at wedding in Lincolnshire (the bride looked fabulous) it looks as if possibly the shower curtain got wrapped around her and there wasn’t time to get it off, maybe she has been told to cover up more but ye gods, it swamps her, obviously she likes it because she is wearing it, but in my humble opinion a no no☹️

lesley4357 Mon 18-Jun-18 13:07:40

Why do you care? It doesn't matter what she wears unless it affects you personally.

Anniebach Mon 18-Jun-18 13:17:34

Lesley, do you never notice what people wear, never pass comment on a dress or a coat ?

mabon1 Mon 18-Jun-18 13:17:58

leave the girl be

Grandma70s Mon 18-Jun-18 13:21:24

What’s wrong with hair blowing about? She’s still young enough to have her hair loose. Hair that doesn’t move is one my pet hates. Think of Margaret Thatcher!

Anniebach Mon 18-Jun-18 13:24:11

Hair blowing about is casual, weddings are not casual unless on a beach.

trisher Mon 18-Jun-18 13:33:20

What are people on about? Her hair wasn't loose, it was caught back in a loose bun. The dress was lovely. Liked the fact that Harry's tie matched the blue. The fascinator was a bit dodgy.

merlotgran Mon 18-Jun-18 13:40:22

Speaking as one who spent most of my twenties trying to tame my fine, flyaway hair I would have loved the 'messy bun' look.

It's how my attempts at an 'updo' always turned out. grin

Anniebach Mon 18-Jun-18 13:51:42

Twenties yes, mid thirties perhaps not.

Barnet Mon 18-Jun-18 13:56:42

Oscar de la Renta apparently. She doesn't seem too fond of British designers, choosing Givenchy for her wedding dress and Carolina Hererra for the Trooping of the Colour balcony appearance. At least Kate flies the flag for UK fashion houses most of the time, so let's hope if any criticism comes her way, Meghan will do the same.

Hm999 Mon 18-Jun-18 14:27:00

I liked the dress

millarhandbags Mon 18-Jun-18 14:36:17

I love it. And it is very on trend. She is a gorgeous young woman. What do you want her to wear. A nice country casuals twin set and skirt maybe.

Grandma70s Mon 18-Jun-18 14:36:29

When I spoke of her hair blowing about I was thinking of her appearance when she visited Chester with the Queen. It was a very windy day, and her hair was loose. I didn’t really notice her hair at this wedding, just looked at the dress briefly to see what you were all discussing.

Purplepoppies Mon 18-Jun-18 14:42:00

Its a shoplifters dream dress ?. All those folds and no doubt it would hide some deep internal pockets! Maybe even roomy enough to stash a bottle of champagne for 'ron?? ?

lemongrove Mon 18-Jun-18 15:11:11

On trend doesn’t mean it will suit everyone though.
She is very thin, and a voluminous dress made her legs look like twiglets.
The pattern made many of us think of curtains and duvets covers in the French Country look.
Diana made many fashion faux pas in the past and I suppose Meghan will do the same now and then.

annsixty Mon 18-Jun-18 15:23:45

Nothing personal, only my opinion, I didn't like the dress at all.
It was far too roomy and hanging in places.
I wonder if they are teasing to get pregnancy rumours started. If someone has already said this, apologies, I haven't read through the whole thread.

HannahLoisLuke Mon 18-Jun-18 16:50:06

I love Meghan's usual style but this horror makes me wonder if she's been "got at"
Everything about it was awful, the size, the style, the pattern, even the sleeves were too long.
She looks best in fitted styles with a bit of oomph but without being tarty. Left to herself with a bit of advice on what's proper for a young Royal she'd do fine.

Jalima1108 Mon 18-Jun-18 17:01:14

Liked the fact that Harry's tie matched the blue
DH and I did that for DD's wedding, the same blue. We call it the 'Howard and Hilda Look'
I liked the colour even if the dress 'swamped' her.

Jalima1108 Mon 18-Jun-18 17:08:01

I have some ads for dresses coming up on the right-hand side of my GN page - and they all look rather oversized and swampy.

Next year, when we're all swathed in yards of fabric, Meghan can smile smugly and think to herself 'I was there first, at the forefront of fashion' wink

Catlover123 Mon 18-Jun-18 19:40:43

can't see it in the link you posted Merlotgran?

That's because the front page of the DM will have changed. Try this one.

Diggingdoris Mon 18-Jun-18 20:17:05

I think the fabric is gorgeous, but it does seem a couple of sizes too big, unless that's a new fashion!

luluaugust Mon 18-Jun-18 20:42:57

Much to big and did nothing for her, much preferred her day out with the Queen dress.

Iam64 Mon 18-Jun-18 21:34:41

MM usually looks great, her choice of clothes suits her personality and style. that floaty frock is the first item of clothing I've seen her wear that I didn't think suited, or fitted her well.
We all make mistakes don't we. Stand up anyone who always looks a million dollars, even at a wedding. I recently saw some photographs of myself at a wedding several years ago. On the day I felt fine, loved the outfit. On reflection it was just not right for that wedding. I'm so relieved no journalist is sitting pouring over the worse photographs of me they can find, to confirm I never had any taste.
36 is not old. If MM wants to wear her hair lose, why shouldn't she. Many of the young women in their mid 30's I know have long, lose hair. Why should MM be any different?

Coolgran65 Mon 18-Jun-18 21:40:13

I don't think it's so much the 'body' of the dresss as the sleeves. They look a bit too full and long. I'll bet if it had been sleeveless it would have looked completely different.

Nanny41 Mon 18-Jun-18 22:19:55

Meghan looked lovely the other day when she accompanied the Queen when she opened a bridge over the River Mersey, and they looked as though they were really enjoying themselves, having a genuine laugh about something. The Queen likes Meghan, despite the comments on GN about her clothes!
