Got to be honest, my face doesn't look all that bad for my age, but I'm noticing a very crepey neck that looks as if it needs ironing!
Any recommendations? Don't suggest scarves as I have a drawer full that I never wear. Help!

I love polo necks, and always have. In summer just wear shirts and t shirts that come up to the neck.

In this hotweather?

Both scarves and polo neck jumpers are great solutions for us in certain weathers but right now quite frankly we need to feel air all around our bodies and the neck is certainly one of those places .

I think we shall have to revert to yet more attention, exercises and creames to these areas...... so that whenever we get our next hot spell.......probably in about 20 years!!!!!............our necks will be so well groomed they will be able to be proudly displayed!

I don't much care what I look like - especially in this weather. I always feel hot 'under the collar' in a polo neck sweater and, having a short neck, look ridiculous. V-necks are my choice for comfort, if not elegance.

I wish I didn't care what I look like. Hate the lines that are on my face and that my neck looking older. My friends all think I look much younger than my age, I dress well, love clothes, don't dye my hair but have it cut in a fashionable bob style, the grey looks like streaks, so I do the best I can, but I can't do anything about my face. I look in the mirror before I go out and know I've made the best of myself but dislike my face and neck, that it's getting worse and I feel it doesn't look like me any more.

I feel the same!

Can just about cope with my face!!!

My neck is a different story, have tried every neck cream to be found in any decent department store, and they all were a failure, no matter what the price point.

However, I purchased Elizabeth Arden 8 hour dry oil spray, whilst on a flight. I intended to use it on the ends of my hair, but it is extremely beneficial to neck, cuticles, elbows and prevents split ends.

Give it a try gransnetters ????????

I have just purchased Prai Neck & decolletage cream. Got good reviews but I can't comment as yet as I've only used it once

What does the row of symbols mean at the end of GrannyGravy 13s post? I have tried looking it up but dont really know how to describe it.I have seen it on a few posts.

She is Information Desk Person.
Meant to portray sassiness apparently.

We're getting older and fortunately, it shows in our faces and bodies. My mother insisted no matter what time (or state) her daughters came home, we must never go to bed without following her regime of clean, tone, moisturise. I still do it but that's as far as I'll go. I'm enjoying getting older, though I wish my body wasn't feeling it so much. My neck is sagging as are other appendages but that's what happens isn't it. Much preferable to those endless face lifts, botox etc to try and hold back time. Enjoy every decade is my advice to myself as I move towards my 80th decade

My neck fell onto my chest like a bowl of crinkly custard some time ago I try not to get it tanned but the wind gets to it on the golf course- I just try not to look in the mirror and avoid photographs if possible.

Nothing to be done. Time and gravity come to us all and nothing makes much difference.

Learn to love your wrinkles, turkey neck and smile instead.

Keep your neck and décolleté out of the sun. It’s very vulnerable when it comes to both UVA and UVB rays. We tend to think of our faces when we’re out and about but aren’t usually quite as careful with the bit below the chin.

I hate my neck, but that is because of a large scar, sad

The area round it is great though!
Morning and Night I religiously use Bio Oil and also the Home Bargains version in similar box which was recommend by a nurse who also had a scar in same area.

My neck is not very wrinkled ( am 65) . For years I have applied moisturiser to it whilst lifting my head up and back and holding my neck muscle taut. It seems to have worked I have a smoother neck than others I know. No special cream just what I'm using at the time, currently a "cheapie" from Aldi

Lazigirl Fri 27-Jul-18 09:14:37

Wrinkling is from exposure to the sun and genetic inheritance. No creams make any difference and certainly by old age sadly any damage has already been done. I hate it too but I agree with Iam64. It's part of the ageing process and we can't hold back time. My friends and family don't love me less because of my wrinkles (I don't think ?) I take comfort in the fact that at least I'm still going...... some friends never made it to my age!

Cherrytree59 Fri 27-Jul-18 09:29:26

Lazigirl You are right the Sun is often the cause of crepe or wrinkled neck.

And it is probably not going on holiday to hotter countries as no doubt sun cream is applied, but when at home wearing low neck tops and t- shirts and going out in the sun unprotected everyday year in year out.

How many can say they have applied high factor Sun cream everyday on the neck area and below during this hot spell?

Went to see Mama Mia - Here We Go Again last evening. It stars Cher (amongst others). Now there's a woman who's done her best to 'hold back time'. She looked amazing, though I don't know what would happen if she smiled....

JackyB Fri 27-Jul-18 11:53:22

You can't "turn back time" (see what I did there) and un-crepe your neck, so all you can do when it's too hot for scarves and polo necks is hold your head up straight.

For photos, get the photographer to stand so that the camera is above you and you are looking upwards in the picture.

JackyB Fri 27-Jul-18 11:53:53

(I'll certainly have a look at the Elizabeth Arden oil, though, if it's that good!)

Lazigirl Fri 27-Jul-18 13:00:26

Before spending lots of money on skin creams it's worth reading Ben Goldacre's "Bad Science" which is quite old now but still relevant.

janeainsworth Fri 27-Jul-18 13:09:01

Your 80th decade, iam64???
I do hope not ?

And before I get accused of policing the threads, it just made me laugh, that’s allsmile

Iam64 Fri 27-Jul-18 13:28:42

Whoops, thanks for that janeainsworth - sticky fingers on the lap top. Take ten years off please folks

OldMeg Fri 27-Jul-18 13:41:57
