Melania - a shallow fashion thread

Doesn't Melania Trump always look fabulous? (except for that recent parka with the "Who cares" message).

I thought last night's yellow dress was absolutely stunning when they arrived at Blenheim Palace (did not think Teresa May's dress with a high split up the back was ideal for people following up steps behind her!) and today she looks gorgeous too. Her fashion sense is pretty much spot-on in my opinion.

Just as I have said on another thread sparklefizz . I totally agree with you . She always dresses impeccably, so stylish . The yellow (or was it gold I couldn’t tell) gown she wore was amazing and how well she carries herself too . Her advisor ( if she has one) could do with giving TM a few lessons . Not saying she should prance around in a yellow ball gown but she always looks so dowdy and out of place.

Melania Trump certainly carries of all her clothes well and has a good stylist or a good eye herself, this primrose evening dress was undoubtedly stunning, suiting her stature perfectly.............but I think any one of us,given the money and opportunities such people have at their finger tips, would look equally good.

Teresa May is completely different but again has good stature and she holds herself well (in the main) and has a good dress sense keeping her look modern, certainly far from frumpy, and right for the various meetings and travelling she does.
I am not altogether sure the red evening dress.......apart from the questionable split!!!.......with its bare arms was exactly becoming for a lady of her age although obviously retaining a good figure.
I think a little more "up top, sleeveways" and a lesser split might have been far more attractive.

If I were a multi billionaire I wouldn’t look a fraction as good as she does ( and I’m not just talking about my pig ugly face either) . It takes much more than good looks to carry yourself the way she does.

gillybob Fri 13-Jul-18 11:53:55

I don’t agree that TM holds herself well either Panache she mostly looks really awkward.

Eloethan Fri 13-Jul-18 11:57:43

You are very unkind to yourself gillybob.

Sparklefizz Fri 13-Jul-18 12:01:38

If you look at Melania, TM and their husbands when they were standing in a straight line for the photographs. you can see how TM hunches so that her chest area is closed - that is not confident body language.

Not sure that money/unlimited budget makes any difference ... look at Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie. IMO you either got it or you ain't (style, that is!)

gillybob Fri 13-Jul-18 12:02:52

Not unkind Eloethan just honest .

Panache Fri 13-Jul-18 12:03:14

Agred that TM has a slight slouch GillyB.......hence adding "in the main" as I did not want to appear down right rude.......having a similar stance myself now after too many serious illnesses...... it is a bit of a sore point!!!

Money cannot buy you beauty, but my word it can certainly go a long way in transforming looks!!

Fennel Fri 13-Jul-18 12:03:47

Wasn't Melania a model before meeting Trump?

gillybob Fri 13-Jul-18 12:04:22

Again I totally sgeee with you Sparkle as you say “you’ve either got it or you haven’t” nothing to do with money at all.

gillybob Fri 13-Jul-18 12:05:40

Yes I believe she was a model Fennel. She certainly Hasn’t lost it though.

wildswan16 Fri 13-Jul-18 12:07:56

I doubt Theresa May has much time for going fashion shopping at the moment. She has rather more important things on her mind. Melania does look lovely, but she is an ex model and not a "working" wife so has plenty time to spend upon herself.

“Model” in the broadest sense? ?

muffinthemoo Fri 13-Jul-18 12:13:11

I loved that lemon yellow dress last night. Summery but formal but not too formal. She has the height to carry off the drama drapery around the neckline.

no comments about the politics, I just want to gossip about the clothes!

There was something 'off' about the cut of TM's red dress last night but I can't figure out what. Not as flattering as usual?

gillybob Fri 13-Jul-18 12:13:42

Oh come on wildswan she must still buy clothes or have someone buy them for her . She/they just don’t seem to get it right . Nothing to do with her slight slouch either Panache which I didn’t mention . She just looks wrong and awkward in most of what she wears .

Riverwalk Fri 13-Jul-18 12:20:01

Melania was a model so knows how to carry herself - I do like her clothes and think she always looks good. I'm comfortable commenting on her looks as this is a style & beauty thread!

As for Theresa May - she's worn that dress before and it's not a good look for her. Whether we like it or not people in the public eye are open to scrutiny on what they wear. It's not completely sexist, men have to wear 'power' suits with appropriate tie, etc.

A sleeveless dress in that situation made her look somehow 'vulnerable' and weak. Merkle or Thatcher would never have worn such an outfit.

Auntieflo Fri 13-Jul-18 12:20:33

Perhaps TM has a medical problem, hence the awkward posture? I did like the colour if her dress, and wish I had her good legs.

gillybob Fri 13-Jul-18 12:22:05

I think she just dresses wrong for a woman of her age, position and stature .

Riverwalk Fri 13-Jul-18 12:25:08

Purple when those photos re-emerged during the US election campaign, including ones of her totally nude, Trump brushed it aside saying 'it's artistic, something Europeans do' ! grin

gillybob Fri 13-Jul-18 12:29:30

If I had a body and face like that I might consider exotic photographs .

Sparklefizz Fri 13-Jul-18 12:30:20

TM is a Type 1 Diabetic, and I have to say I admire her stamina and work ethic because it can't be easy jetting about all over the place, whatever you think of her politics, and coping with meals out when she has to monitor insulin. However, I don't think this is anything to do with her posture, and I think she needs someone to tell her that first impressions and body language are very important.

I watched a fascinating documentary years ago about "tells" and analysis of the tells between George Bush and Tony Blair. TM needs to examine her tells.

Re her fashion, she obviously likes shoes from past photos.

Sparklefizz Fri 13-Jul-18 12:31:30

grin gillybob
Love it!

grannysue05 Fri 13-Jul-18 12:36:47

I believe Theresa May is possibly affected by a spinal problem such as scoliosis.
She has a definate 'dowagers hump' and does appear to walk bent forward.

Panache Fri 13-Jul-18 12:47:07

Exactly my thoughts Granny sue hence not wanting to sound unkind,I have developed something of a dowagers hump through Spondylitis amongst other health issues.

However that dress with no sleeves did not do much for her although I think most other times she wears nice suitable clothes.......not particularly eye catching, but then her shoes do that!
