I hate to see lipstick smudges on glasses and certainly not on napkins, but if you are at a formal meal you want to look your best, don't you?
So, is it worse to scrub off your lipstick before sitting down at the table (and not feel at your best), or do you wear full makeup and leave horrible marks everywhere?
Dilemma.

Thank god I don't eat/drink out if spitting on a glass or leaving lipstick marks is deemed ok.

David1968 Fri 26-Oct-18 11:31:53

"Lick the glass?" !!! I just live with the fact that my lippy may leave a stain on a glass. (Does it matter?) Dishwasher gets rid of everything!

I agree with OldWoman70- I know which eye shadows I like & do not want to buy a palette to throw 3/4 of them away. I get mine from a firm ( Mary Kay) who sell an empty palette & you can buy the ones you want to fill it & then just get replacements when you need them- they do very good matte ones to which is more flattering for older lids.

Max Factor Lipfinity,It is around £10 but you only have to apply it once in the morning, there’s a clear coat that comes with it that I take out with me, and apply it during the day.It is a little dry though.stays put, unless you eat something greasy like fish& Chips.

I agree with blueberryl because Lipcote works really well and will prevent any lipstick transference. Hope you give it a try.

One of the long lasting 24 hour lippy's is ok, but I also use Lipcote, a clear liquid you apply over lipstick. Does tingle a bit when you apply though!, but works

During the Flu Season , our Catholic Priest allows dipping the host , my lipstick disappears by the time I get out of the Bathroom ! have given up on it and makeup , I do look a bit grim , but hey ho who is looking at me

So you wear lipstick David1968 ??

Kim19 Fri 26-Oct-18 16:31:49

Ditto Aepgirl! It certainly hasn't been for the lack of asking in my case. Must move in the wrong circles!

sarahellenwhitney Fri 26-Oct-18 16:32:17

Felice A chichmm friend applies her saliva to her glass in an attempt to prevent lipstick sticking to it.
You having a laugh???

David1968 Fri 26-Oct-18 16:47:04

Yes I do use lipstick. Despite the user name, I'm a woman. Being "a bear of little brain", initially I didn't realise how my username would be used on Gransnet. Perhaps I should change it.

I also use 24 hour lipstick. I like L’Oreal but it’s not as good as Maybeline. And Maybeline is not as good as Max Factor Infinity, which stays on brilliantly. And the dryness can be alleviated by using the waxy topcoat.

Sheilasue Fri 26-Oct-18 18:07:13

Use a lip brush.

Nanny123 Fri 26-Oct-18 18:30:28

Lipstick doesn’t stay on me for more than 20 minutes - I’ve tried everything that says it’s lip proof - not on me - I’ve spent an absolute fortune over the years trying one that will stay put.

Grandmama Fri 26-Oct-18 18:46:02

Lipfinity dried out my lips very badly. I used to put on lipstick, put a single layer of tissue paper over my lips and powder my lips over the tissue paper then remove it and (I think, it was so long ago!) put more lipstick on. It made it last.

As for the communion chalice - I've been a Eucharistic Minister for years and we have to consume what is left in the chalice at the end. I've survived any germs so far. Dipping the host in the chalice is only in exceptional circumstances.

You can buy colours in twos in Boots

giulia Sat 27-Oct-18 16:08:28

I'm like Nanny123, NOTHING works for me, not even Lipcote or MF Infinity.

I use Chanel Rouge Noir and I don't think it comes in a long lasting version. No-one else seems to make this dark colour.

I guess Lipcote is a wise idea to get rid of the marks. I used to wear Kaplan Perfect Pout lipstick which is an excellent product and I never had any issues with the same. This plumping lipstick with SPF protection works great through out the day and I don't remember facing any such issues..
Check out www.kaplanmd.com/products/perfect-pout-lipstick this page to know the various colors they offer

TinaRoberz - thank you for the tip!
