What to wear with this skirt ?

You do not say what size you are, but a deep purple or, possibly dark brown, polo neck sweater. Woolovers have some lovely ones.

Size 12 M0nica . I’ve searched for something in a similar deep purple but without any luck . I love the skirt but should’ve thought what I would wear with it before I bought it last year . Grrrrr

I love those colours - reminds me of the ?70s when it was orange and sage green.
As M0nica says, deep purple. Or even a lighter purple such as lavender, if you can wear that colour. I can't.

I would wear a cream jumper or top.

I would prefer a burnt orange sweater, but I know already that these cannot be had for love or money this year, day glo orange or mustard yellow is all that is available.

Cream, white or black plain turtle neck, a chunky necklace, black tights.

I'm really no fashionista, but am constantly surprised by which colours work together. Most of my more 'inspired' combinations have been happy accidents, mostly brought about because I have too many clothes in my wardrobe and not enough hangers, so I have to double up on the hangar, creating all sorts of combinations!

For what it's worth, my advice is to lay out your skirt on the bed and just put other random colours with it, use scarves even cushions and see which colours look good with it. You should end up with a range of colours that you can look for.

As to style of a top, I would look for something short waisted, that just fits over the top of the skirt, but that would be my personal preference.

Agree with nanamcg in style of top, but I would wear black top and tights with it. Depends on the style of the skirt as to what footwear

I'd probably stick to thick black tights and a black top.

I would opt for a plain black top and opaque black tights with little ankle boots.

I was planning on thick tights and ankle boots but it’s the top I’m really struggling with . It’s a very dark ( kind of regal ) purple and hard to match up. I Will look at the various suggestions when I get home Thank you all x

If you want to lighten the whole outfit wear the cream, if not then the black. I think all over purple would be too much!!

I like brown with purple so would got for a brown top, brown tights and boots. Depends on your colouring really, brown, back or cream would work, as would burnt orange if you could find one. Lovely skirt gilly.

I would probably wear a black top or jumper (not polo if like me you are suffering from the dreaded hot flushes)
Then pick out the skirt
colours with some chunky jewellery and/or earings.
Some long black boots would also look nice or black tights and ballet style shoes.

Black or perhaps cream

Unless you can find a burnt orange or dark purple which is an exact match - you'd have to take the skirt with you and take it to the window or door of the shop because shop lights can change the colours.

You may be able to find a scarf in the purple or orange so if you wear a black or cream sweater, that will 'pull it together'.

The colour would go perfectly fennel but I’m not sure I could get away with the neck as I have the most awful hot flushes . I might have to whip it off at short notice which wouldn’t be pretty.

I never thought of putting brown or cream to it . I’m gonna take all the brilliant advice and take the skirt around a few shops with me . I knew I could count on the brilliance of GN for help, I just wish I’d asked last year, then I could’ve enjoyed the skirt when I bought it .

If you get hot, why not try a soft white shirt, with a black cardigan or jacket which you can whip off when necessary.

I'd go for a black top too.
