We've just published a page of Christmas party dresses as recommended by a few very stylish bloggers.

If you've seen or bought any lovely party dresses or outfits, please share them on this thread. tchsmile

I wouldn’t touch any of the outfits in the link with a barge pole ???

Have you been looking in my wardrobe oldbatty ?

MissAdventure Sat 24-Nov-18 08:58:57

I sometimes put on one of my slightly nicer jumpers on Christmas day.
Sometimes I don't.

Wouldn’t buy any of the dresses featured. Still need to find something to wear though there is probably something in my wardrobe........

Can't say I'm too excited about the featured outfits either. Like another poster, I've got a beautiful Bombshell dress which will come out again this year. Another favourite which I wear a lot is a grey lace fitted dress with high round neck & v back & long sleeves - I always feel good in It, it gets its fair share of compliments &, best of all, cost under a tenner in the QVC outlet shop in town! My daughter has discovered a company called Shein who sell really pretty dresses at ridiculously good prices. I haven't bought anything from them yet but have my eye on a couple of things - I won't look as glamourous as she does, unfortunately!

Never wear dresses, have bought a lovely silky jumpsuit from Tesco, dark green with a vaguely oriental muted flower print, very happy with it.

Nanna58 Sat 24-Nov-18 09:30:42

Ay ay ay I’ve just looked at the featured dresses, way to old in style( we’re grannies , we don’t necessarily want to look like one!) Styles Gransnetters have posted far far better. The featured ‘blog ladies’ need to think again!

I only wear dresses in the summer. For Christmas I usually wear smart trousers (but 'pull ups') and a reasonably glamorous top with long sleeves. Beautiful in its simplicity is what I'm aiming for but not sure I manage it.

I thought it was just me but I really didn’t like anything in the link- disappointing selection. Like another poster will stick to M & Co they do great party wear, not just dresses, especially in special offers recently.

I shall be wearing leather leggings I bought in a close down sale of our local shops - with the Christmas jumper of course!!

Diggingdoris Sat 24-Nov-18 09:45:59

I have two pairs of stretch velvet trousers, black and navy, and wear with one of several floaty /sparkly long tops. With a little black dress to fall back on, that's all I need.

dragonfly46 I think you are Theresa May and I claim my £5!

Bought this dress last month (in a bigger size so knee length on me). It’s warm and confirtable and I like the high neck.

Trousers all the way for me. I have both black and navy evening trousers with sequinned tops. Also a black velvet suit. Pity I don’t have any invitations!

Humbertbear Sat 24-Nov-18 10:02:53

Sorry - I think everything on the fashion page is frumpy

dragonfly46 Sat 24-Nov-18 10:10:52

Urmstongran got it in 1! wink

harrigran Sat 24-Nov-18 10:56:44

kitty Sainsbury's have had silver velvet tops for a few weeks now.

GabriellaG Sat 24-Nov-18 11:10:28

All too 'old' looking for my taste. I've recently bought a plum cotton velvet trouser suit to wear with heels (never loafers) and I've a selection of velvet and or glitter clutches from years past, to pair with it.
Not one for jewellery, just stud real diamond earrings and tennis bracelet (present from ex last year)
I've also bought a marine blue velvet pleated maxi skirt from M&S and mustard and blue chiffon blouse plus teal velvet hi-cut stilettos but not worn as an outfit. All to go with other things.

GabriellaG Sat 24-Nov-18 11:15:11

Saxifrage
I like it. grin

Great taste. Love it.

Sheilasue Sat 24-Nov-18 11:22:49

I have a lovely black blouse I brought from M&S years ago with silver pattern on it I love it, it’s so stylish so that comes out for high days and holidays as mum used to say.
Also have a new blouse with dogs on with Christmas hats on.
I like blouses that are outside trousers or leggings, more comfortable.

Speldnan Sat 24-Nov-18 11:39:22

Haven’t been to a party since the millennium NYE so wouldn’t buy a party dress!

mabon1 Sat 24-Nov-18 11:42:29

What is a Bombshell frock please?

GabriellaG Sat 24-Nov-18 11:50:34

mabon1
Google 'bombshell and you'll see that it's run by a woman named Katya. Dresses for women who want to hide their upper arms and tummy.
Frankly, IMO they're awful and the woman doing the most talking (with short blonde hair) looks dreadful in the clothes. Can see her knicker and bra lines in the blue dress and as for the mum and daughter...'nuff said. shockgrin

I bought 2 party dresses at BON Marche about three years ago in red and petrol blue. They were a size too small and I bought in after Xmas sale. I have been on a diet and they both fit now so I am sorted for Xmas and New Year.tchsmile
