We've just published a page of Christmas party dresses as recommended by a few very stylish bloggers.

If you've seen or bought any lovely party dresses or outfits, please share them on this thread. tchsmile

A party dress doesn't have the same appeal while wearing a vest hahahaha.

MiniMoon Fri 23-Nov-18 14:44:41

I bought this asymmetric tunic top to wear with my black leggings and new blue ankle boots. I dressed It up with a string of freshwater pearls. I've also got pearl drop earrings to complete the look.

Leggings ? I'd look like Max Wall with my thin legs. Or Olive Oyle.

Your dress looks very nice though MiniMoon, smart.

Not keen on any of those suggestions, except perhaps the velvet suit. I have two Seasalt tops. One silvery grey velvet, one dark blue cord. I wear them with various coloured tights or leggings,

Love your top minimoon quite versatile too I would think.

Just ordered a couple of dresses (most expensive £17;50!!) from JD Williams to try on. I never spend a lot on 'party' clothes as I don't go places v often that require dressing up. Save my money for the clothes I wear every day as need them to wash & wear well!

kittylester Fri 23-Nov-18 16:24:22

BBBevan, I've been looking for a silver velvet top!!! Seasalt don't appear to have one this year!

Jalima1108 Fri 23-Nov-18 16:54:53

Oh

Sophiesox Fri 23-Nov-18 17:03:35

I don’t usually buy ‘party’ clothes (well, to be fair, I don’t go to any!). But for going out and about in December, I often wear red as it’s my favourite colour and looks seasonal! Just bought a lovely tunic from eBay. Well, it’s actually a dress on me as I’m not very tall!

janeainsworth Fri 23-Nov-18 17:40:31

I won’t be buying one this year. This is my Bombshell dress that I got last year and it will do for a few more years yet!

BBbevan Fri 23-Nov-18 18:08:36

kittylester look on ebay. I got mine , less than half price and perfect .

mumofmadboys Fri 23-Nov-18 18:37:39

Your dress looks smart and comfy to wear, ,Jane.
I don't like any of the outfits on the page of Christmass party dresses

M0nica Fri 23-Nov-18 18:54:34

The suggestions are too 'age appropriate' for my taste. I also never wear black, it makes me look as if I am at death's door. My taste is more boho.

I do have some bottle green velvet skinny trousers, worn with a loose light cotton top with a fine green willow foliage pattern on white, and rose gold shoes.

During the Christmas season I will wear my scarlet boucle wool coat over this ensemble.

FlexibleFriend Fri 23-Nov-18 18:54:45

I don't like anything on that page of party dresses and not the tops and leggings either, they're 'orrible.

oldbatty Fri 23-Nov-18 19:41:49

Josephine looks nice but nobody is a size 16 with short legs.

EllanVannin Fri 23-Nov-18 19:44:59

I like Victorian. Something that no-one else has got. Not the run-of-the- mill usual " party dress ".

Years ago I wore velvet suits and frilled blouses or long velvet dresses with a high-neck blouse underneath.

MissAdventure Fri 23-Nov-18 19:58:39

I favour an elasticated waist, myself. smile

oldbatty Fri 23-Nov-18 20:11:45

I like beige trews from Bon Marche and a long top with a reindeer on it.

MissAdventure Fri 23-Nov-18 20:21:39

grin batty..
You have Jo Brand's humour.

SpringyChicken Fri 23-Nov-18 21:30:58

Sorry, none of those outfits float my boat.

ebayqueen Fri 23-Nov-18 22:11:57

Not a great pic ,the link is a better one but got this beautiful "bordeaux" coloured knit dress with sparkles and cold shoulders from M&Co,Reduced from £60 to £30. I wanted something Christmassy but not lacey and think it will suit so many occasions. www.mandco.com/diamante-embellished-cold-shoulder-shift-dress-bordeaux/1703595.html?dwvar_1703595_color=0824&cgid=10010090#start=164

My diet has paid off, I have a 'vintage' little black Gina Bacconi number that I treated myself to 30 years ago when we led a very social life and it fits again, so I do not need to go shopping for a party dress!

janeainsworth Sat 24-Nov-18 01:06:42

Thanks momb - yes the dress is really comfortable. I love Bombshell dresses but only have two so far! Working towards a collection grin

Teetime Sat 24-Nov-18 05:36:40

I bought a velvet tunic top with sparkles and stars on from White Stuff with 20% discount.
