Do you dare to bare but only in summer? Do you fake it or go for the milk-bottle look? Stockings, hold-ups or tights for those 'important' occasions or are you a pop-sock siren?
"Never wear loads in the Summer" haha. Today here in East Anglia it's blooming FREEZING so got out my long SAS underwear (which were enjoying their summer hibernation), covered them with thick winter trousers socks and boots. At the top a thick t shirt and my best thick cashmere cardigan. I've had the fire on all day and put the heating back on! (I've always been a hothouse flower). Unbelievable weather for June, for goodness sake!
Thanks for all the replies. It seems that we make the best of what we have and fake it if the sun don't shine (sic) Out shopping today I noticed most older women (over 50s) had tanned arms and faces which looked as if they caught the sun easily. I have a few freckles on my lower arms and used to have some on my face when in my younger years. Funnily enough, no age spots on hands. It might have something to do with the cream I bought from a Romanian fruit picker in Kent who had his mum send it to me. The consensus seems to be that tights (with the exception of thick winter ones) are out, colour tinted moisturiser is 'in' if you have paler legs and socks with jeans in winter. I do note that perfume is, for many women, a great addition to their wardrobe. I 'wore' Shay & Blue Black Tulip today.
I grew up on Northern Rhodesia so I got used to not wearing shoes most of the time. And to this day my feet don't particularly like shoes, even in winter time. I was the foolish one to wear flipflops when cycling to work during my first winter in the UK. Never again. Ok... I still wear flip flops in winter as and when. Crazy but that's life!
I wear nice shoes when I have to. And stockings on formal occasions.
Today I've worn trousers, a long-sleeved top, long cardigan, socks, trainers and a mac. This evening we put the heating on for an hour and I even had a throw across my knees!
I used to love baring my legs in summer but sadly, although they’re still very slim, they’re veiny and mottled! I’m going to try a variety of “leg perfecting” lotions this summer sowill report back!
Iwear a lot of dresses so I always wear tights, cant abide fake tan.I'm very pale skinned and tan just looks wrong on me.I never sit in the sun as I burn even with factor 50 slathered on .Today there's no work so leggings and a tunic top and ankle boots ,its cold today on the west of Scotland .
I tend to live in trousers or leggings, although I usually have at least one skirt or dress in regular use.
Today, like yesterday, trousers and 3/4 sleeve top with a great big neck and wrist hugging sweater over and grey fluffy socks over my tights. brrrrrr, it is cold
Rarely wear tights except thick black ones in the winter, I'd love to wear hold ups but with my chubby legs it's not a good look Fake tan is a must as my legs hardly ever tan for some reason
On work days its the same black trousers, white shirt and black cardi. On days off its jeans or leggings with either a tunic top or a joules harbour top.
I guess my legs are my best feature (????) so I probably could/should wear dresses and skirts more but I am so self conscious about looking stupid that I rarely wear them.
I'm wearing black cords, a long sleeve cotton top and a fluffy jumper. Oh flat shoes and socks. I'm in a caravan in Devon and in the wardrobe are lovely tops, 3/4 skinny trousers and sandals but so glad I brought cold weather clothes as it's definitely not hot here.
Anyone got advice on how to disguise varicose veins? The fronts of my legs finesse they're brown with gardening in shorts, but the backs horrendous with veins.
Jaxie I use tanning moisturiser in the hope it looks better. I can't think of anything else. I tend to wear cropped trousers or leggings most of the time. To be honest I don't think they look as bad to other people as they do to oneself.
Today it’s been dark jeans, long sleeved top, big coat, boots, socks, brolly. It’s been very cold and wet! Tonight, the hot water bottle is airing the bed. Flaming June? er, no!!! Oh, well, perhaps July will be better!
