Having received the latest Poetry catalogue today and spent a goodly amount of time ticking all the items I like...?? see that Italian wool and a Japanese wool and linen mixwe feature heavily, as does boiled wool and corduroy.
I aim to leave it for OH to see. He should be pleased that Primark doesn't do catalogues. ??
Yes...I'm a shopaholic. I really must put unwanted items on eBay but it's such a bind to describe and photograph items from all angles.
Still, I'll have no room in the wardrobes for any more clobber if I don't get rid of some tgat I no longer wear.
I am loving the colours, thick creams, natural, taupe deep blues and fern green.
I note that Poetry does PayPal which is useful. 4 months before you have to pay anything and my limit is £5k. Oh joy! ?

Marydoll;; Was not familiar with Poetry - have requested Catalogue! Thank you.

lemongrove Fri 30-Aug-19 19:16:35

Gabriella those colours are lovely!
I can’t think of buying Autumn clothes just yet though, too warm.

Marydoll Fri 30-Aug-19 19:30:29

Lemongrove, it's blooming freezing here! Now where are my thermals?

lemongrove Fri 30-Aug-19 19:43:30

Really? ?
Just out in a t shirt today ( well, a skirt also of course.)

Marydoll Fri 30-Aug-19 19:53:11

Lemon, stop rubbing it in! Our heating is on.

Can anyone tell me if Poetry clothing is true to size?
For example, compared with with Monsoon or M&S?

I'll be travelling to visit daughter and grandsons next week to Victoria BC. They have much more variety for shopping than our small northern town. Looking forward to hitting the shops for an afternoon.

I've been on the hunt for a good denim skirt; not too long or short. And a few lighter cardigans and vests that I wear with t shirts since I still have hot flashes occasionally! I love the look of heavier knits, but cannot bear them anymore.

Callistemon Fri 30-Aug-19 20:48:50

I've never been bothered to do Ebay so I just send stuff to the charity shop.

Some items I wear and wear and others I just don't feel right in and should get rid of them as I am sure someone else would look just right in them.

I'm still buying sandals grin

Callistemon Fri 30-Aug-19 20:50:16

I'd like another denim skirt CanadianGran - I do have one but it is so old now (however, no-one knows that I suppose!).

Except everyone on GN.

Callistemon Fri 30-Aug-19 20:51:43

T shirt and linen trousers today and I felt too hot!
Sorry MaryDoll

Gabriella were you a Girl Guide?
Be prepared.

Callistemon Fri 30-Aug-19 20:54:08

being a wee, dumpy, plump lady,
Oh, what a surprise, I always imagined you as very tall, slim and redheaded with a Scottish complexion and a few freckles Marydoll!
And very elegant.

Marydoll Fri 30-Aug-19 22:49:02

I am a genuine redhead, with pale complexion and freckles, you got that part right!? Not much else, Callistemon. ?

Just looked. Wrap clothes are lovely! Have requested catalogue but really much too expensive for me. Marla Wynne looks good.

gillybob Sat 31-Aug-19 08:05:06

I just popped over to look at “Wrap” too and have fallen in love with the “lightweight trench coat” which unfortunately is a bit like my purse “lightweight” . I do love it though but at over £200 sadly it’s a no, no. sad

annep1 Sat 31-Aug-19 09:27:39

Gillybob I too like the trenchcoat.
It is a lot, but 8 years ago I paid £90 for a light weight summer jacket and I still wear it and it looks great. It was a lot then and too be honest I wouldn't usually spend that much. I must have loved it.
But it did turn out to be very good value for money.!

gillybob Sat 31-Aug-19 09:41:12

I totally see your point annepl it would be “an investment piece”
But I don’t earn £219 a week so really could justify it . I suppose I could put it on my CC but it would end up costing 3 tines as much wouldn't it ? No I shall just have to admire it from afar envy

annep1 Sat 31-Aug-19 12:05:56

I couldn't justify buying it either. Its a lot of money. My daughter would make better use of the money.
I'll just enjoy the catalogue. The sale might be worth a look.

As I googled these catalogues I kept getting links to www.couponsokay which seemed to offer good discounts. Anyone have any experience of using it?

annep1 Sat 31-Aug-19 12:10:15

It is lovely though lol.

Perhaps some of us could sign up to this.

Well, I've ordered some items from the P catalogue just in case they become OOS.

This evening, I saw a woman about my age walking hand in hand with her man.
She was a petite larger lady with pixie cut highlighted hair and wore a cream sunray pleated top with wide pleated sleeves and cream palazzo pants. She accessorised with a gold chain made with very large rings and had gold Fit-Flops.
I said how wonderfully glamorous she looked and we exchanged a few words. Her OH beamed and kissed her as they walked into the restaurant.
It's nice to give and receive unexpected compliments.

Scribbles Sat 31-Aug-19 21:19:57

I think I've strayed into the wrong thread! I don't do autumn & winter styling; I just pile on another layer when it gets cold!

Seriously, those tops look lovely but I can make any garment look like a second-hand ta'atie sack so there's little point in my bothering.

gillybob Sat 31-Aug-19 21:27:35

“Your age” *Gabriella ??? And what might that be ? 35? 39 ? 42 surely at the very most!

I sooooo envy your glass overflowing attitude smile

annep1 Sat 31-Aug-19 21:55:11

What a nice thought GabriellaG54.
We should give compliments more

My sister told me my nails were lovely this week. I felt so good.

NanKate Sat 31-Aug-19 22:12:58

I’ve recently succumbed to buying two tops and one scarf from David Nepier (not sure of spelling) I must be mad to spend the money but the abstract design of one of the tops is just fab, it should be delivered this week. The blue top arrived last week very stylish and nice stretchy material.

Sara65 Sat 31-Aug-19 22:28:48

The autumn catalogues are starting to arrive, Toast arrived today, like the fact that they use older models.

Love winter colours, and winter textures, but put off buying as long as possible, always sorry to pack away my flip flops for another year!

M0nica Sat 31-Aug-19 22:53:13

I have only bought one item from Toast and the quality was dreadful. I then bought virtually the same garment from M&Co, much better quality at a third of the price.

GabriellaG54 Sat 31-Aug-19 23:57:39

Gillybob
Oh dear noooo, I'm 74.5.
I must have been having a funny turn because the previous afternoon I had remarked on a woman's shoes. They were navy suede, pointed toes with a narrow ankle strap and silver block heels, about 2"- 2.5". She was slim, about 50-ish with short light brown hair and wore dark blue jeans and a white blazer/ jacket.
Well, that's just me.
A stranger on a bus the other day, said she was 'envious of my hair (the subtle copper flashes in particular) and asked the name of the salon.
I told her and added that it cost £102 as I'd had my roots done and a hair masque too which bumped up the price.
Most old people like a chat but she was quite young.
I was in Superdrug this afternoon and the girl on the till yawned, excused herself then proceeded to explain that her sister had woken her at 6am by climbing into bed with her and switching the tv on...(she's 3) angry
She wanted a lie-in as she wasn't due into work till 11am. sad
We Liverpudlians talk a lot...and not all of it is useful.
