How many pairs of boots do you consider reasonable?

I have just bought a very comfortable - but smart pair of grey suede boots. Did I need them? Probably not as I already have a pair of fur lined grey suede boots, but I am telling myself this new pair are “smarter”
Anyway, is there any reason we should not have several pairs of boots in the same way we have several pairs of shoes, not just one in each colour
So counting up my boots - oh dear , but sone are “smart” others, utility - black leather -2, tan leather -3, black suede -1, brown suede -1, blue suede -1, grey suede -2, tan suede-1.
Anyone prepared to make me feel less like Imelda Marcos?

Your brave to count them Paddyanne I keep putting off that task, as I can always get shoes or boots to fit me and along with handbags they are my shopping weaknesses.

Just counted mine,I have 17 pairs of boots knee length and just over the knee in black, brown .tan and cream .Ankle length currently 7 pairs, so 24 in total ,all my boots have high heels .I have one pair of green wellies if I need flat soles in bad weather.I hang my boots on a rail well the long ones with clips and have a wee bit of foam between the boot and the clip.Works well.I recently gave some away a couple pairs of cowboy style that had quite pointy toes .
Shoes ,lost count though I did give 28 pairs to the local library who were collecting shoes for a charity ,my neice is a librarian and she said the heels were impractable but she would sell my shoes which were hardly worn and put the money into the charity fund instead .Mine are all leather or suede ,sorry,I dont like plastic footwear and plastic isn't really helping the environment as far as I can see.My leather boots last for years

I blame MawB, I was browsing M & S website and spotted that they are still stocking my favourite two pairs of ankle boots.

As my pairs are on the worn side of much loved I have purchased them both. Navy suede flat Chelsea boots and flat black suede and leather ankle boots "Oopsie"!! grin

Alongside you, Fennel, that is!

Am I the only GN who possesses almost no boots? For the winter months I have only two or three pairs of "stout" shoes, and one pair of walking boots. ( I never wear dresses or skirts.) I feel quite the odd one out!

One worn out pair of ankle boots bought from M & S 7yrs ago for £55 . ( I want to get my wear out of them lol)

One pair of leather (yes leather) knee high tan boots.

But I intend to buy more (ohh yes I do) smile

Can't have too many pairs of boots.

MawB Tue 14-Jan-20 16:06:10

These caught my eye and I think will be useful even after “boot” weather. (Rieker)

I can't wear boots any more - too many corns etc.
I have 2 pairs of Sketchers laceups which I wear outside in all weathers.
And 2 pairs of Sketchers slipons as slippers in the house.

Missfoodlove thank you for the Vaseline tip, will definitely try it.

Had no idea you could buy wellington repair kits, would have saved a fortune on stable yard wellies.

Missfoodlove Wed 08-Jan-20 17:25:39

I would like to add in case anyone is interested?that I am trying to shop sustainably and buy quality and classic over quantity, I do use suede protection etc and clean shoes and boots regularly to keep the leather supple.
I have repaired my wellies with a £3.00 kit and it worked!!!
But here’s the thing, if you have patent leather use Vaseline to care for the leather. Just rub with a damp cloth, dry, then rub in the Vaseline and buff it will transform your shoes and boots.

You can always find a handbag that “fits” Harris27 (well that’s my excuse)

Harris27 Tue 07-Jan-20 19:29:12

My problem is handbags I love them yes I have lots of shoes but handbags too many too mention need therapy for it ha ha!!!

humptydumpty Tue 07-Jan-20 19:17:14

This thread soes remind me of all the comments recently that we buy too many clothes (from an environmental point of view)...

M0nica Tue 07-Jan-20 18:47:44

Oh, I did not know that ankle boots were included!

To my one pair of boots and 1 pair of wellies add 2 pairs black ankle boots, one pair of brown.

Cannot bear to have more of anything than I actually use.

Esther1 Tue 07-Jan-20 17:34:44

1 pair of leather ankle boots (live in these)
1 pair of scruffy brown flat ankle boots
1 pair of navy suede ankle boots (Primark)
1 pair of posh green wellies
Perfect for all my needs! All flats! All comfortable!

Cabbie21 Tue 07-Jan-20 17:23:26

I was about to say one, but on reflection, one pair of black ankle boots, grey walking boots which I wear in the snow but no longer for walks, one pair wellies, rarely worn.
But in my wardrobe I have a pair of blue ankle boots, bought 10+ years ago, never worn, too tight.
I had not thought I needed more than one pair to wear regularly.

Now don’t ask me about shoes! I wear four on a regular basis but have many, many more.

PernillaVanilla Tue 07-Jan-20 16:34:28

One pair of black lace up boots
One pair of brown lace up boots
High heeled black zip up boots
High heeled open toe and heel boots
Black Chelsea boots
brown heeled ankle boots
black heeled ankle boots
Black bike boots
Wellies
Riding boots.
walking boots.
In mitigation I don't wear shoes in the winter at all.
