I seem to smell of mould!

Evening all, and good wishes.

I posted previously about a Christmas present of bath bombs from Mr P.

Well, I only had 2 left, and needed to have a bit of a soak so that it gave the hard skin remover gadget for my feet at least a fair chance.

(If I don't keep on top of the hard skin it's a bit of a toss up as to whether I need a chiropodist or a farrier blush)

So, I went for the one labelled "Oceans 11" ( they all had daft names). According to the description, it was supposed to be (and I quote) "Smells of sun and sea blended with orange and pink rose to tickle your senses".

I turned on the taps, removed the paper wrapper, tried to remove the inner plastic one, failed, looked for the bathroom scissors, found them (hooray) managed to get the plastic off without stabbing myself (double hooray!) bunged it in the bath.

Toddled off to get my bathrobe to hang on the radiator, my book (bath is a rare event, may as well make the most of it) and got ready to immerse myself.

The general aroma in the bathroom wasn't particularly, well, aromatic, but in for a penny in for a pound.

Well, the bath was run, I was sort of committed (I had fitted a new roller on my foot thing) so got in.

Reader, (if indeed you have got this far) I did not linger. Just stayed long enough to soften my hooves feet.

On reaching the sitting room, I mentioned it to Mr P. He had a sniff of my arm and tactfully said that as far as he could tell, I didn't smell of sun, sea etc (see description above) and when pressed, agreed it was somewhat reminiscent of mould/mildew! confused

I think I will be having a shower before getting into bed.

If I still smell of mould after that I will start to worry..........

@phoenix
Hiya Chuck, smells of `Sun and Sea` eh? Well I'm not sure what the sun smells like (don't experience it long enough here lol) but regarding the sea bit, I was down the beach running my Guide Dog recently and Gus decided to go for a swim I can honestly say that if that sea on your Bath Bombs smelt ANYTHING like this smelly dog then I am not surprised Mr P was not too enamoured lol

My daughter puts Zero base cream on my feet and lower legs, its brilliant stuff for making them silky smooth and less Elephant like! Locally all patients suffering from Diabetes get refered to the Podiatrist every 8 weeks or so, at Clinic, thre are large notices up sayi g that all their Podiatrists are university graduates who have studied foot care and passed several exams to gain their Qualification, they are not Chiropodists!
I also find that using a footspar filled with warm water and a squirt of the zerobase disolved within helps soften the really hard skin further, then l use a foot file that the podiatrist gave me to just go around the edge of my heels, for those of you who do not have a bath to soak in and only a shower, a footspar is a real help imho.

men have a poor sense of smell....next time smell it before you get in the bath...

Nicolaed Wed 19-Feb-20 11:19:33

What a wonderful story, filled with such fantastic snippets of true humour! Typical man is MR P though - I trust he wore his tea later!

crazyH Wed 19-Feb-20 11:29:31

You've brightened my morning Phoenix ? And I was very impressed that you have a special bathroom scissors !!!!!

craftycarol Wed 19-Feb-20 11:34:21

Phoenix - I really enjoyed reading your post.? I think you should be a comedian - your descriptions are hilarious!

phoenix Wed 19-Feb-20 11:35:20

Hello all, much more fragrant this morning, thank goodness!

At least last night's bath bomb didn't leave bits all over the bath, the first one (lavender, but some daft name) smelled lovely and left my skin beautifully soft, but as it had actual dried lavender in it, the tub was left looking as if it had been colonised by small purple ants.

Lovely post Pheonix
Smelly stuff usually is just that .. Smelly .
I have always had a problem with hard skin on heels and have used all the various graters/stones/rollers with some success but a beautician actually told me the problem was dry feet and to try CSC cream. It's a Swedish formula containing ureashock also found in urine. Readily available in all chemists. Honestly I cant believe the difference it has made to my hooves heels.
On the plus side of having dry feet they never smell unlike my DHs
?

There used to be a Christian Lacroix scent that smelt exactly of perm lotion. Long since discontinued, thank heavens.

@josiew58
I noticed you said you were having "eye problem" if you need any help regarding assistive technology so that you can use the computer after or if your eyes get worse then please just ask

Hi what sort of vitamins do you take as you get older

00mam00 Wed 19-Feb-20 13:05:26

When we moved into our first flat, I cleaned it thoroughly with pine disinfectant, haven't been able to stand the smell ever since and now realise it’s the same smell as Jeyes fluid used to clean public toilets ?

3nanny6 Wed 19-Feb-20 13:14:57

Phoenix so sorry you thought you smelt of mould. I would just say I am a little bit envious of you for being able to take a bath. I an still in sixties but because of chronic back problems I could no longer get the left leg over to climb in the bath, also getting out was just out of the question. I have had a wet room with the shower and cubicle seat for a few years now and it is okay but I still miss my long soaks with all the different bath smellies I used to use and those lovely scented candles I always put around the bath.

Well I might be in the depths of a really bad chest infection, but this little story cheered me up loads. I’ve been avoiding reading this site for a while because it’s all rather depressing or angers me. More little gems like this helps. Thank so very much.
PS. I smell of Olbas Oil No 5.

Sawsage2 Wed 19-Feb-20 18:52:05

Haha, hope you can trot off happily on new new hooves.

endre123 Wed 19-Feb-20 19:50:39

I am still laughing! Thank you phoenix

phoenix Wed 19-Feb-20 19:59:23

* 3nanny6* still just about able to get my leg over wink (anyone else remember Brian Johnstone, "stop it Aggers!" ) and as the shower is an over bath one, it's just as well.

We had a new shower out in in November, one of those tower things with body jets.

First time I tried it, felt like I was being water cannoned. I have now worked out the optimum distance to be standing away from it, now somewhere between relaxing and mildly stimulating!

hallgreenmiss Wed 19-Feb-20 21:43:36

Bloody hell Jillybird that’s expensive, I get a podiatrist treatment , (as they’re apparently now called) for less than £30

JaneJANE60 Wed 19-Feb-20 21:51:32

Loved this - made me giggle ? thanks

Doodle Wed 19-Feb-20 22:15:07

I hate to ask phoenix but did MrP buy your Christmas bath bombs from that well known perfume company Rentokil? They weren’t moth balls by any chance were they?
Worry not. You might not smell so good but at least you won’t get holes in your woolies. grin

We once had planned a romantic weekend in Masham and booked into that very nice hotel on the market square which was part of the Black Sheep brewery family. I had brought two Lush bath bombs with me including one with a Union Jack pattern in glitter. OTT I know.
Our room had a four poster bed and an en suite with a jacuzzi bath.
Memo: for future use: never use bath bombs with glitter in them in a Jacuzzi bath. It blocks the jets and leaves a ring round the bath that nothing will shift.
I had a very red face when I apologised at Reception when we left.

phoenix Wed 19-Feb-20 22:54:49

Maw grin

Doodle the one thing I can be pretty certain of is that almost any gift I get from Mr P will have been sourced from Amazon!

However of course they may well supply goods from Rentokil, although I confess that I haven't looked for items from them on there. (If you know what I mean).

I'm pretty certain that the infamous gift wrapped toilet seat that I was proudly presented with one Christmas may also have come from there, but could be wrong.

I have an image in my mind of Mr P going into a DIY store, or the local builders merchants saying "I'm looking for a present for my wife, can you show me your range of toilets seats, please?"

But of course that wouldn't have happened because it's a known fact that men never ask for advice in shops! grin

Junesun Thu 20-Feb-20 07:18:12

Phoenix, you made me laugh . ' ' 'Hooves ' crossed out lol? Anyway hope you soon smell sweeter.

ToadsMum Thu 20-Feb-20 10:32:12

Try foot peel socks. I used ones from Beauty Pie but you can get them from Superdrug. Leave them on for 90 minutes. You think nothing has happened but then 7 - 10 days later (yes DAYS) hard skin etc just falls off. Gross yes but effective.

JackyB Thu 20-Feb-20 20:08:22

I always have a couple of fun kiddies' bubble bath sachets in the bathroom. When DiL was here last, she put the DGDs in the bath and used one, but it smelt so strongly of bananas that they came out double quick! You could smell the artificial banana-Y smell right through the house and, of course, on the children, too!
