Whilst we were on hols last week we popped over to the Isle of Wight and I found this small shop selling wonderfully coloured floaty tops that felt like silk but weren’t. They can be washed by hand. They are one size. I’m a 14 but they would easily fit a larger size. They are based on Japanese kimonos. I bought one for the hot weather and so look forward to wearing it. The one I bought was China Tree and I think I will buy the Willow pattern too. The company is called One Hundred Stars.

Do you have any recommendations ?

Kitty I would like a large slice of coffee and walnut cake plus a cappuccino please. But don’t tell the ‘I’m a pear the sequel’ thread ?

Auntieflo Wed 29-Jul-20 09:26:39

You should be on commission Kitty. Lovely site.

Oh no!!!!! GrandpaGravy is getting increasingly cross with GN feeding my online shopping habit ????

(Thank you might be getting out the CC)

Lovely duster coats- but oh the hand washing. I'm such a slut. If it can't go in the machine now it just won't do.

Nortsat Wed 29-Jul-20 09:58:30

Ooohh Nankate, I bought the Paris Map top and a scarf.
I love these posts when GNs point us to little websites with lovely, unusual things.

Maryd we are in dangerous territory with the Moshulu sale. I too bought a pair of shoes that I don’t need. As we are still shielding, I will have to wear my Paris Map top and my new shoes in the garden, for our Friday night glass of wine. ?

Nortsat Wed 29-Jul-20 10:00:12

PS Nankate - have you seen the dressing gowns ... they are really lovely ...?

NanKate Wed 29-Jul-20 10:02:37

Mary I am going to ask for one of the bags for my Bday in September, but I want it now !

Yes Lucca the scarves look good too.

NanKate Wed 29-Jul-20 10:09:08

What fun Nortsat the Paris top, you will look very stylish with a glass maybe of French champagne in one hand and on the arm of your French lover, or is that a step too far? ?

Yes the dressing gowns look wonderful I could recline on a chaise longue (spelling ?) giving out lunch orders to my French maid. As you will see I have a vivid imagination.

Nortsat Wed 29-Jul-20 11:04:00

Gosh Nankate, I hadn’t factored champagne and a French lover in to the equation. I am going back to the website to buy another top ... ?

scarves with city maps

Many (very many!) years ago my French penfriend sent me a silk scarf with a map of the south of France on it. I'm sure I still have it somewhere - are they back in fashion?

Kitty
Lovely that you apologised, you made a genuine mistake. I’m sure NanKate will be fine about it. We all make mistakes sometimes. flowers for you both.

I love these, I’m really tempted bu a Kimono dressing gown, but already have something similar.
A design shop near us sells their products, they’re a great idea for a special present for someone, practical but that little bit different.

I wore my new top in this very hot weather today with a pair of white trousers. They went really nicely together. We had breakfast outside at our favourite Italian cafe in our town and felt as if we were on the continent. ?

seacliff Fri 31-Jul-20 20:17:00

I have several of their scarves, all bought in the sales. They are a bit different and really good quality. I would love a kimono jacket.

NanKate Fri 31-Jul-20 20:43:25

Yes aren’t the jackets lovely they could go over a plain T-shirt and look great seacliff.

Just looked at their website and realised that I’ve seen some of their things - long kimono type robes - in the Kew Gardens shop. We’re member of Kew but haven’t been for quite a while.
I’m sorely tempted by one of those tops!

Jane10 Fri 31-Jul-20 22:30:54

What a beautiful website. I want every single thing on it. The kimonos are so gorgeous. I'd like to actually see them and feel the fabric before forking out. I wonder if there's a stockist nearby. Must check.

I love One Hundred Stars which I came across in a shop in St. Andrews and bought the New York map dressing gown roughly 5 yrs ago and it still looks as good as the day I bought it. Beautiful fabric. Can’t resist the Moshulu shop there either!

NanKate Sat 01-Aug-20 11:26:37

Jane I can confirm the material of the top I bought recently feels silky and I felt the bees knees ?? wearing it yesterday. I’m on the verge of buying one of the bags.

Jane10 Sun 02-Aug-20 10:00:47

Well I've gone ahead and ordered a duster coat and a scarf! Looking forward to seeing them.

NanKate Mon 03-Aug-20 18:40:37

Do let us know Jane if you are pleased with your new purchases. The colours and flower patterns are just wonderful IMO.

Jane10 Wed 05-Aug-20 17:28:50

Arrived today. I live the Crane pattern duster coat and feel very smart in it. The scarf with the map of Edinburgh is brilliant. It's very large and will drape well. It's a real touch of, much needed, class.

Jane10 Wed 05-Aug-20 17:29:13

Sigh. I love the coat.

Marydoll Wed 05-Aug-20 17:34:45

Jane, sigh I have coat envy! ?
