Bought myself one today on the advice of my daughter! I absolutely love it and it will go with so many things.
Makes me feel young and trendy again!
I’m 66 and a size 14!
Anyone else got one?

I’m fancying one too. Was thinking about buying one from QVC,one of Ruth Langsfords they have good reviews. Think she may be on tonight.

Mine came from Matalan.....random I know. But it’s not too stiff and not too soft. Mid blue.

I always had one, but gave my last one away to my Daughter thinking I was too old, (72), but saw one on QVC, Ruth Langsford, it's light, stretchy and goes with anything, so thought sod it, who cares if I look like Mutton dressed as Lamb, I love it, as I can't stand heavy coats, I've had so many compliments, (think they're genuine) so I'm happy.

I’ve never fancied a denim jacket ( although it does look different in pink or white) so wouldn’t/haven’t worn one at any age.Just a personal thing.I don’t think age should stop anyone buying one if they want to, after all most people wear denim jeans ( including me.)

Bought mine about a year or so ago in M&S sale, always wanted one but thought I was too old for one. I've worn it more this year now I've got used to the idea - it's a sort of lilac/light blue, I'm 73, it makes me feel younger!

DanniRae Thu 24-Sept-20 20:27:19

I have had my denim jacket for years and I love it - I know it looks ok because my daughter would soon tell me if it didn't!

Tedd1 Thu 24-Sept-20 20:29:16

I bought one five years ago in Tesco sale for £8 and I absolutely love it. I'm 67

Shirleyw Thu 24-Sept-20 20:44:17

I love my denim jacket, got it from m&s few years back.

Shirls52000 Thu 24-Sept-20 21:10:57

I have two, I m 63, you re never too old

Pittcity Thu 24-Sept-20 21:36:14

I bought a second hand denim jacket many years ago and it gets worn with everything. I also have a leather jacket. Both look good with this year's midi dresses. Age doesn't come into it if you feel good with what you are wearing.

I have 2. An ancient one from marks and a pink one from C&A in Spain. I love them and have worn them loads! Also have a plether biker jacket from. Marks too. Think they look great with dresses, jeans etc. white pumps and Go for it! X

I have one with lovely aplique and embroidery. I am often complimented on it. I buy most of my jackets in America.

Marydoll Aha, can you read my mind? LOL Actually I'm the opposite to you in that I'm tall and nothing I buy is ever long enough, so having to shorten RTW clothes is so much easier.

You must have had the same nuns as I did, they hated me, but as soon as I finished school I took myself to the local college for dressmaking classes and completed the whole dressmaking certificate over the next few years. Can't remember the last time I bought clothes.

Earlier this year I made a pair of coral coloured jeans with lace trim I made on my embroidery machine. Then, I was on a jeans mission and followed up with a charcoal, green, black with white pinstripe and regular french blue that I finished last week. Need to make white for Summer, again with lace trim.

Last night I remembered a faux leather jeans-style jacket that I made a few years ago and which I haven't worn for a while. Must get it out! Thanks for the reminder.

For those of you saying some denim is too stiff...have you washed it in CocaCola? The coral denim I made jeans from earlier this year was stiff as a board when I bought it from the fabric store, but I 'loved' the colour so it became a WIP (works in progress) and I started my quest to beat it into submission!

Firstly overlocked the ends together (so the piece of fabric doesn't tangle in the washing machine), then laundry detergent for the first wash (still stiff), next the bottle of Coke which unfortunately only made a slight difference. Lastly soaked in equal parts of laundry detergent and fabric conditioner and let soak for 24 hrs before yet another, regular (long) wash. The denim is still softening with each wash, so it's been a one-wear...one-wash scenario for a few times until it gets to where I am happy with it. At least the jeans don't stand on their own now, so that's a good sign!

It seems most of us are of similar age, but I never allow age to dictate what I wear, or do. These days I have silver hair and have started getting it cut at the hairdresser's (due to torn rotator cuff) and everytime I'm there another customer will ask what colour did they use on my hair. Hey, it is 'au natural' and I'm proud of it!

I'm 64 and love mine, it's a Next jacket but I found it in a charity shop for the princely sum of £7.00! It's the right colour denim, has enough stretch, and good pockets, which several brands lacked.

I got one, courtesy of Damart a few years back. It's looking a bit battered now, as am I. The sleeves had to be shortened and it has a mandarin collar.

HappyBumbleBee Fri 25-Sept-20 10:22:01

It must be something in the air as I've just bought one and absolutely love it too! I was worried I was too old for such a thing but everyone has commented on it and love it as much as me - even my mum and sister had to try it on!

HappyBumbleBee Fri 25-Sept-20 10:24:53

I forgot to include the pic in my post grin

MawB2 Fri 25-Sept-20 10:44:01

May I ask, did you buy it with rips in it?
Each to his or her own, but I have never understood the fashion for “distressed” clothing - any suggestions?

M0nica Fri 25-Sept-20 13:52:58

What has wearing a denim jacket got to do with age?

Chewbacca Fri 25-Sept-20 17:29:16

I have never understood the fashion for “distressed” clothing

There's 2 young lasses who walk past my house most days and the fabric of their jeans rips/tears ratio is amazing! The only bits I can see that are intact are across their bum! grin

Marydoll Fri 25-Sept-20 18:33:39

Mine came today and I love it. The only downside is the sleeves are too long, I have short arms, so I shall be trendy well I think I am and turn up the cuffs!

Frankie51 Sat 26-Sept-20 07:00:09

I'm 69 and have a denim jacket and also a black leather biker jacket. I think they are great autumn jackets.

Frankie51 Sat 26-Sept-20 07:04:04

I wasn't sure about the distressed look, in fact I thought it was awful, till I tried on a pair of jeans with rips in and they looked soo good. (I'm 69) I wear them with my leather biker jacket and get lots of compliments. In certain styles I feel like "mutton dressed as lamb" but these strangely suit me.
