How many pairs? (Ankle boots again)

I’ve done it again, that well known comfortable shoe firm whose name is the opposite of colder have offered me £20 off!

Well it would be a shame to waste that wouldn’t it so I have ordered a new pair of the very very comfy chocolate brown suede Pixie which I wear every day. That way when they get really knackered I have a smart pair (for the unlikely event of actually going anywhere) and after too many abortive attempts with ankle boots from other sources, I know these are as comfortable as slippers!
BTW not answering my own question, that’s between me and my confessor!

I have had a big clear out, so from now on it’s one in, so one out, however tempting. They do sound good though!

Two black leather, one black suede, one orange, one purple, one brown - all ankle boots. Long boots, one plum, one green. I love footwear.

Leopard print, tan, grey, dark blue, burgundy, purple. I have just ordered a pair of black ones. I also have a pair of pink cowboy boots. Too many boots, no such thing!

Too many to decently mention!

Ignoring all the heeled varieties in different heights/colours and materials, my everyday 'go to' ankle boot is 'Whisper' from that well known 'not colder' store. Pull 'em on in the morning then can happily troll around all day without any discomfort (or should that be discomfeet.....?).

No-one yet seems to have mentioned Fit Flops ! Their boots (and shoes) are so, so comfy, but buy in the Sale !!!

I did, JanT8. ? Yes they are, and yes I did (buy in the sale). And I can’t recommend them highly enough.

I was a "martyr to my feet" until I discovered the not colder outlet store. Unfortunately they discontinued my favourite style Jade, I must have about 9 pairs in various states of repair as well as a few other styles. I think I'll give the Pixie ones a go next.

Sketchers online quite often offer good discounts. I got 30% off recently

Lucca, try Pavers, they do some Skechers, and at a good price too.

I could wear a different pair of boots every day for two weeks but if I then put my shoes and trainers and put and flip flops we are probably talking a different pair every day for about 6 weeks

I love boots, long and short, but don't enjoy the look of plain ones so I sand them lightly and paint them with acrylic paints. That way I can change the pattern when I get bored. Doc Martens are the best for this, as the leather quality is so good. (In the summer I paint my sandals. smile)

I have four pairs: 1 Red, 1 Navy, 1 Maroon and 1 Black! Just don't please, ask me how many pairs of shoes/sandals I have - I don't have time to count them!

I've just bought a pair of pale blue Chelsea boots although they're actually more of a short cowboy boot with a Cuban heel as well as the elastic sides of a Chelsea boot
They're from Fly, a firm I love, who've provided me with 4 pairs of long boots & some ankle boots, all extremely comfy
I did dither a bit about the pale blue but gave in eventually - they are so beautiful but I'm not going to wear them in the rain !

Bought two pairs of Sketchers at Costco last year at bargain price. But being Costco I doubt they have them still ?

It's our duty to support shops we like; they are having a tough time of it. So buy without hesitation! (That's my excuse.)

Actually, Maw, I don't really think even the strictest confessor would be inclined to consider a love of shoes and boots a sin.

If it is, it is a very small venal sin, after all.

You buy boots in order to go walking for the good of your physical and mental health, don't you?

Lucca re. Sketchers on line. My DH bought a pair as the local branch did not have his size. Diaster! Never arrived and took months to get a refund. Would not deal with them again.

I buy Skechers and have found them in Debenhams, are they still open? And online in catalogue shops like JD Williams. I have cheap ankle boots in fake suede from Dorothy Perkins, a black leather biker pair and two knee high pairs in brown and black from M&S.

mary51 Tue 06-Oct-20 11:45:15

I've just one pair. However I have seen the colder code above and may use it if I buy some colder shoes. The pair I wore today were bought in 2011.

I am amazed by how many pairs some have!

Emelle Tue 06-Oct-20 11:38:14

I've just bought a pair of Moshulu boots to add to my other three pairs of ankle boots and my Hiking Boots. Like others boots are a bit of an obsession for me.

I need VERY wide shoes : wide are usually EEE (3E) and I take an 8E,
Unless I have handmade shoes there is only only manufacturer: DB wide-fit shoes.
Although the now make nice shoes in a range if colours (all flat - of course), they only make one boot in an 8E fitting and it is VERY UGLY! This annoys me immensely. So I have no boots at all !!!

MawB I love the look of those boots and the fact you say they are like slippers to wear. I've seen them in the Hotter catalogue and have a lot of their shoes. Do they stay on? A few years ago my daughter had Ugg boots and said how comfortable and like slippers they were but eventually they became very baggy and slipped around when she was walking.

A couple of weeks ago I bought a pair of sandals half price from that well known site. Before they arrived they sent me an email showing the said sandals a further £20 off!!
Not risking it with boots.

That happened to me too! I hadn't even received said sandals when they had reduced them again. I complained and was told it was too late as they had already been sent out. I told them that in that case I would send them back as I didn't want to wear them as I would be reminded of the fact I had been cheated out of £20. A couple of days later I had an apology for the way I had been treated and £25 credited back to by card.
I'm very careful about ordering from them again now though.

I feel so much better after reading all your posts! I thought I was the only one who has lots of pairs of ankle boots! The only pair I bought that went to the charity shop fairly quickly was a pair of Chelsea boots ( no zip) I prefer a zip or two. My favourites are Jones and Ecco.
