Callistemon my loft is boarded but thankfully I did not have shelves fitted as I did in the shed and each one there is full, naturally of necessary items untouched for years1
US troops forced to act on the ground?
Amazon has just announced its prime wardrobe. Buy 6 items of clothing or shoes, get them delivered to your home, try them on, 7 days to return and only then do you need to pay for the goods you keep. What's not to like?

Amazon is not nuanced- It's blatant-
Therefore, there is nothing nuanced about an Amazon customer either- Every purchase represents support-
You seem to have missed the point Rosecarmel or perhaps things are different in the US- although I suspect not.

We emptied the loft once Charleygirl, when we had more insulation put down, but unfortunately twice as much as crept back again. It's partly boarded, with large shelves which was a mistake!

No I mean being all on one team or all on the other. With no nuance. That's what's part of our problems at the moment, no nuance all baddies and goodies. I use Amazon it was the concept of being team anything that I was talking about. Still not sure if I have made myself clearer
Good point Galaxy nothing (well few things) are all bad or all good, whether mobile phones, internet shopping (Amazon or not) artisan bakers or Aldi.
I think it was simplistic to blame all the ills of the High Street on Amazon , as the rot had set in years ago (as instanced) and the bottom line for me is to make things work for me not to be their slave. Harking back to the good old days of a cosy High Street of individual shops is in any case a myth.
60 years ago my small town had a limited selection of shops, and you regularly heard the refrain”we’ll have to order that in”. So for a wider selection you got the bus to the nearest bigger town 5 miles away and for major purchases you went to Edinburgh, 40 miles away and a sick-making rattling bus journey of over an hour. And yes, there were those who “blamed” the limited selection of the local shops on the greater choice in the city. Twas ever thus. I suspect.
So as I can’t go to shops other than food shops (and even then I prefer online at the moment) I will use Amazon for convenience - similarly my car over cycling, iPad over “real” books (no more shelf space) and make do with Netflix over going to the cinema, so if I am in a “team” that only means I will subscribe to a method of shopping instead of demonising it.
Callistemon when I moved here in 1996, the loft was filled with stuff from the loft in my previous house so I decided I wanted an empty loft and over time I achieved it. The loft is empty and my garden shed so tidy I can actually find items.
The house is the exact opposite but work is in progress.

My resolution is to use GN less. It's going well as you can see.
Well, me too.
I need to do something more constructive, like clearing the attic, but it's too chilly up there.
Team Amazon here too with a Prime account, 5 Firesticks, 2 Fire tablets, and an Echo. I've been shopping online for years though - long before Amazon. I started crafting and became addicted to watching a well known shopping craft channel although even before that I was buying dolls house items off different websites.
I still loved to go into shops especially for clothes but haven't been out shopping since Dec 2019 apart from food. Now we have moved we don't have access to the big shopping centres any more so online is even more important. Today I've had a huge bag of cat litter and a box of cat food delivered

See - two untils
I'm sure I only typed one
Not entirely.
I am going to be more careful what I post as I am being misunderstood.
It's my New Year's resolution, but it won't be in operation until until Friday.
I think it was me rather than you
I see Galaxy
I'm obviously having problems with clarity of speech at the moment, understanding others and making myself understood.
Lockdown syndrome.

No teams are the cause of most of our problems at the moment.

Should I join Team Amazon then?
I do chat to them sometimes!
I even joined their Prime Team by mistake.
I can understand why people use Amazon, especially at the moment, but I have lots of reservations about it.
It’s all too easy to over consume, when you can get just about anything at the click of a mouse. I wonder if avid users of Amazon pause to think of the wider picture, and some of the negative impacts which you have alluded to rosecarmel?
I like to think that as we age we are more thoughtful and wiser
about our actions and the wider consequences.
I think you're right, Galaxy-
In the US, corporations dictate- The government supports them- Which is how we arrived at this insular mindset, of not caring to understanding the negative impact Amazon has had on the world- Only seeing the convenience, because it's convenient ..
No teams are the cause of most of our problems at the moment.
I'm not on anyone's team either-
I hope you and your husband both get well soon biba. x
Well, I'm not in anyone's Team
?
Yes, I am on Team Amazon as well. They have been a real boon this year and they give a good service as well.
I have heard they are not paying taxes as they should but presumably they are taking advantage of various loopholes, so shouldn't the governments involved be closing these loopholes?

Some analysts have predicted for some time that the city centre as a shopping destination has had its day
It is constantly changing, of course. At one time small individual shops were the norm, along with markets which supplied food and essential goods. Those who were more entrepreneurial flourished eg Mr Marks and Mr Spencer who together opened stores "Admission Free", as well as market stalls; consequently came the demise of the local drapers' shops.
Sainsburys, Tesco (Mr Cohen started with one stall), Woolworths, British Home Stores, Debenhams etc etc all dominated the High Street.
Gradually smaller retailers were forced out.
Then came the large shopping malls where large stores relocated leaving High Streets with gaps to fill - banks, building societies, charity shops, coffee shops and niche retailers began to take over.
Now we are not really allowed to shop because we risk spreading COVID so only those who can adapt will survive, possibly niche retailers better than the large department stores and chains.
That is the key - adapting to changing circumstances over the years. Those who cannot for whatever reason will close.
We are not supposed to shop, in most areas the shops are closed except for essential goods so we shop online for our needs.
A reset will be needed post-Covid.
