Amazon has just announced its prime wardrobe. Buy 6 items of clothing or shoes, get them delivered to your home, try them on, 7 days to return and only then do you need to pay for the goods you keep. What's not to like?

I will not buy anything from Amazon until they start paying taxes in each country commensurate with their turnover there.

Everything on Amazon can be bought elsewhere and often cheaper.

DD actually posted on Facebook that she had an Amazon free Christmas and was congratulated by many.

Wow! Just like Brexit.
Pick a side ladies!

I’m with Amazon.

I can see why people aren't keen on Amazon

However I confess to being Team Amazon myself.

Especially this last year.

I need Amazon, haven’t been able to go to any shops for over 3 years and no one to shop for me.

With Woolworths and BHS long gone, Debenhams in serious trouble, Bon Marche and Edinburgh Woolen Mills running closing down sales, these days there seems little point visiting the High Street.

The main street of our local town has more shops boarded up than viable businesses.

Team Amazon have bought off them all year and 5beyve been brilliant.

I applaud your daughter- There's the taxes and the fact that Amazon is a flowing pipeline of trash out of China that winds up in our landfills-

There was an interesting series of programmes the other week about Amazon, giving quite a few tips about things to be aware of and how to save money. I’d never heard of Amazon Warehouse which sells returned items cheaply.

They looked at the fashion line and the family who tested them were not really impressed, issues with the sizing and poor quality. But with all new ventures it might improve in time and if you’ve got Amazon Prime, it might be a consideration. I was a bit put off though to hear that it’s likely that any returned items will just be thrown away as it’s not worth the cost of checking them and repacking in order to resell!

I am on Team Amazon as I cannot walk round the shops anymore but I do check prices elsewhere first and usually find that Amazon are cheaper, especially if there is no postage to pay.

Prime Wardrobe isn't a new thing.
It's been going for a couple of years.

I'm a fully paid up slavish devotee to Amazon.
I'm a Prime member, have five Amazon echoes, a firestick, a fire tablet, several Amazon smart plugs, and that's just off the top of my head.

Whatever the rights and wrongs, I have found Amazon absolutely essential this year; also ebay.

NotSpaghetti Sun 27-Dec-20 11:27:52

I don't think this is new, Ellianne

So you try these items on and return any or all you don’t want. What happens to the returned ones? Bet they aren’t cleaned before they are sent out again which would concern me with Covid.

NotSpaghetti Sun 27-Dec-20 11:30:07

Oops - X-posted Fanny, sorry

NotSpaghetti Sun 27-Dec-20 11:31:31

25Avalon - do you ever try-on clothes in a shop?

Grandyma Sun 27-Dec-20 11:36:34

Definitely team Amazon!!

Galaxy Sun 27-Dec-20 11:37:48

Team Amazon although I disagree with many of their practices but I feel that about some high street shops as well.

25Avalon Sun 27-Dec-20 11:40:40

NotSpaghetti I have not been in a shop since February and have only bought a pair of trousers online from Damart in that time. They were properly packaged and I’m pretty certain had not been tried on by anyone. With Covid I am less inclined to want to try anything someone else may have tried.
The chances are there will be lots of returned items at Amazon if they are not well made.

Jaxjacky Sun 27-Dec-20 11:42:42

Until someone else can compete with Amazon on price, selection and efficient delivery, I’m with them. Clothes, not sure, I’m hardly a style icon, normally M&S sales/Matalan or charity shops.

We have kicked it's backside big time - Amazon all the way for us grin
I'm actually sat in a gorgeous purple cowl necked top that was bought as a gift that I had on my Amazon list. In fact most of our family have operated through the list system - it's been a godsend, especially this year.

Ellianne Sun 27-Dec-20 11:44:10

Crikey, how did I miss that in the past? I didn't know they sold clothes. I would imagine they will be taking on lots of new labels now.

I just fancy ordering 6 items in different colours (and sizes) without having to pay in advance like John Lewis or Next. And if it means keeping away from shops that's a bonus.

FannyCornforth Sun 27-Dec-20 11:47:54

They do their own brands of clothes too. They're very good.

readalot Sun 27-Dec-20 12:03:46

I'm team Amazon as well. I pay for prime for the year as it's cheaper. I have two echoes, two firesticks, two kindle fires,an old kindle and a kindle oasis. I have just joined kindle unlimited for 99p for three months. The thing I like about Amazon is you can return an item and you get a refund straight away. I don't think I would buy clothes from them though. I buy from the supermarkets and I also have a grattan catalogue.

sodapop Sun 27-Dec-20 12:31:33

Amazon also sell a lot of old tat in their clothing ranges, I've been disappointed at times looking through their clothing.
Amazon get a lot of stick for their ethics or lack of them and working conditions, there are other similar firms I'm sure who don't get the same criticism.

Ellianne Sun 27-Dec-20 12:39:51

Amazon also sell a lot of old tat in their clothing ranges
grin
But do the younger generation, who are a big chunk of Amazon's customer base, think of Superdry, Calvin Klein and Nike as tat ranges?
