Hello all, usual good wishes.

I have decided that bras are the work of the devil and will currently not be worn! grin

However, I have very, very small bosons which need a bit of "help" blushbut

I ordered some padded bralets on line, but instead of improving my silhouette, they managed to squash and flatten what little I had, which was definitely NOT the aim!

So, what's the secret? Does one order them in a bigger size, to avoid the squashing, and if so, how much bigger?

All help appreciated! smile

I would also be interested in hearing about bralet experiences, but from the opposite problem, do they offer enough support for large breasts?

kittylester Sun 07-Feb-21 15:31:11

I'm no help at all Phoenix - it appears I got your share too.

I have an HH cup, and none of the bralets available will stretch to fit my 'girls'. I'm currently going bra-free, but feel half undressed without something on underneath my clothes. Although a lot more comfy - the underwires had started really pinching into my 'side-boob'

IMHO bralets offer little support for the ample bosom. I can only suggest that a search through the small print to avoid those labelled 'mimimising' may help - if it says much at all as these tend to squash and flatten. What about t-shirt bras?

Have you tried those stretchy bra top things? They have a little bit of padding in them. I used to wear them after I had breast cancer. They don't make boobs look as good as a bra but they are as comfy as a t-shirt. I think they come in packs of 3. You could take the padded/shaping bit out of a couple and put them into one to add a bit of oomph.

I have recently discovered a company that makes blissfully comfortable bra's - no wires, good support even for the bigger boob. Those soft bra-let things don't do much for anyone's silhouette ( unless you're 17 year old model and they've airbrushed out the bulldog clips and boob tape!).

The company is Roche.

Can recommend these for larger norkage . Very comfortable and great support for 34Gs . Perfect for wearing around the house.

I had to wear these bralets after having surgery on my spine as I the stitches were just where my bra strap went
All I can say is that it wasn't a good look!!!

Phoenix, I bought them for my hospital bag, as I felt the floppy look did not look too good under my PJs! blush
I went up a size.

I know QVC do something that are a bit more supportive, but quite expensive.

What about phoning John Lewis bra fitting department? (Other stores available). Discuss the problem with them and measure carefully then order online - only if the bras can be returned.

NotTooOld Sun 07-Feb-21 15:53:33

If you do order some of those stretchy bra tops do make sure you go up at least two sizes. As others have said they are not supportive and if you are a larger lady can make you look like a sack of spuds. Should be ok for those with a smaller bust, though.

I wear the bralets from Primark - I haven't worn underwired bras in years. There are a number of bras now that have now underwiring but I must admit to feeling comfiest in these Primark ones. They have removable cups - best removed before washing or they will crease. I wear the large ones and I'm about 38C (haven't measured since buying these). Not a lot of color choice tho - black/grey or white I think.

I think I have confused the issue - phoenix is under endowed (at least in the boob dept!!

I think that the amount of uplift you can expect is inferior to a “real” bra. I only wear mine at home or when I am going out covered up. At the moment that is all the time, unfortunately.
As long as I’m comfortable is my mantra at the moment.
Is yours not comfy?

GagaJo, those are the things in talking about!

As said, the ones I've tried flatten me, so I thought going bigger might help.

Goodies about doubling up the pads though, providing you can get them in smoothly.

phoenix Sun 07-Feb-21 19:14:10

"Goodies"? I'm sure I typed "Good idea" confused

GagaJo Sun 07-Feb-21 19:16:06

The ones I had were quite cheap. I got them from Asda. Maybe I bought bigger sizes because they didn't flatten me. I wasn't able to wear bras for at least 6 months after my cancer surgery so they were a boon.

muse Sun 07-Feb-21 19:16:59

I've been considering them too. My daughter wears them all the time (she an F) and looks good in them. She has used SHEIN.

Gagagran Sun 07-Feb-21 19:51:05

I wear them and get mine from JDWilliams. Lots of colours and sizes and so comfortable. I'm a DD and find they support me just fine. Can't help about smaller bosoms I'm afraid but would ask if any sort of underpinnings are necessary in that case?

Blinko Sun 07-Feb-21 20:04:47

.....larger norkage... grin

Love it!

CherryCezzy Sun 07-Feb-21 20:11:10

What about a sports bra? Firmer control than a bralet and don't usually squish. If you buy one without hooks and eyes they tend to be comfortable.

Gajahgran Sun 07-Feb-21 20:52:37

I find these Matalan crop tops very comfortable and do give a reasonable shape. www.matalan.co.uk/product/detail/s2770866_c228/padded-lace-trim-crop-top-grey

Luckygirl Sun 07-Feb-21 21:20:36

They do squash your tits, but I am past caring - they are comfortable and keep the boobage warm in this icy weather. TBH I have got so many layers on that no-one would notice whether I had boobs or not - and anyway I see no-one!
