Has anyone cut their own hair during lockdown and what sort of result did u get. I havent had a haircut since last summer and my hair looks thick on the ends ive trimmed my fringe thats all

I've trimmed my fringe using an Amazon gadget but it's still like a donkey's hind leg. It seems to need doing more or less every week probably because I don't dare take much off. It's hard to trim the sides and make them match. I toy with the idea of growing it but I get very fed up with it looking so scruffy so out come the scissors again. I'd love to know when hairdressers can start work again.

I haven't had my hair cut by a hairdresser since Feb 2020. I saw this haircutting tool www.combpal.com/
but I bought a far cheaper version for under £7 on Amazon. I cut the front, top and sides and my husband is now quite proficient at cutting the back.

I cut mine last week I thought it looked ok. I have very fine hair that is slow to grow but it looked dry and tatty at the ends so I popped it into electric bands then just even up the ends.
My daughter was chatting to me on zoom she said your hair looks fabulous what have you done? So it must indeed be ok. I just feel that whats the worst that can happen? If it had not have worked I would just put it up till I could get it fixed. I did just keep it simple though.

I haven’t had my fine straight shoulder length hair cut for over a year. Now it’s halfway down my back. The ends are like kapok. My husband has offered to cut it but as he badly burnt my ear with hair straightness once I’m quite reluctant. When it’s less cold I’ll ask daughter to cut it outside.

I've done it - couldn't stand it any longer, especially at night.
I washed and combed it then did the fringe first.
Then managed to take about 4" off the sides and most of the back. Husband levelled off the back. I feel a kilo lighter!
It doesn't look too bad as it's naturally wavy.
The fringe needs more attention though - too much pudding-basin.

I haven't cut mine but I'll probably have to as they already look like a mess

Good job Glosgran!

Luckily we are not in such a tight lockdown and are allowed haircuts now. I went 4 months last year without a cut and managed to trim the front myself but left the sides and back. The tricky part was getting it to blend in. My hair is quite wavy so can hide some sins. I did let my grey go natural though, and I am happy with the result.
