Legs in summer!

I have nicely shaped legs but the skin is awful - milk bottle white and covered in veins, bruises and various markings! It’s fine in winter, I wear opaque tights and dresses but I think dresses/skirts are out of the question in summer with bare legs. I’m thinking wide linen trousers and cigarette/cropped trousers. I’m also top heavy though slim and would welcome advice on tops to go with wide-legged trousers - thinking they need to be fitted as baggy ones just hang off me like a tent.

You didn’t mention ‘exfoliating’ Amberone I’d better go and look this up and nylon glove things....

Well that's just me really. I find I get dry patches on my legs even if I moisturize. I think Poundland sell nylon exfoliating gloves - they are just slightly rough, and take the dry skin off. I always use gel with them so they are not too rough. B&M probably sell them too.

My apologies MaggieTulliver I seem to have taken over your thread and dragged it off the subject - I'll retire now ?

No problem Amberone, lots of useful tips on here! I do love to wear just below knee length dresses in summer but get so many bruises now I look like a ripe banana!

I love long dresses and skirts but do wear shorter dresses in summer too. I say wear what is comfortable and what you like. People shouldn't be looking at your legs anyway. wink

The white stuff have some nice maxi skirts, which i just bought one along with a dress and T. shirt ...they have 25% off atm....

I too use dove for a bit of leg colour in the summer. My legs have a few scars and marks collected through out my years, all adds to my charm LOL

I have to just rub my leg against something and I get a red bruise. I think it's a collection of blood just under the skin, so I also tend to wear trousers to keep them out of sight.

I get an almost constant big bruise on my arm from an awkwardly placed door handle.

Me too Liz46, think it’s just ageing skin unfortunately! I bruise if a fly lands on me ?

I also have scars, marks, thread veins etc.........these all come with advancing years, accidents etc.........but it's life, it's me, it's my experiences! Whilst not wanting to wear mini skirts ? if the clothes I choose to wear reveal these 'life marks' so be it. If people don't like what they see, too bad!

Get some sun on your legs! ?

Yes am with you H1954 but unfortunately my legs don’t tan at all!

The exfoliating gloves are great, you can get them from SuperDrug and Primark when they open again. It saves having to buy exfoliator which makes a mess in the shower, the only exfoliator I buy now is Clinique for the face as the gloves would be too harsh for the face.

H1954 is right get some sun on your legs, I mostly stop wearing trousers as soon as the weather warms up skirts, cropped leggings or shorts usually. My legs aren’t perfect but soon tan up and look passable in knee length dresses or shorts. Within days of doing my daily walk in Spring Summer my tan revives so come on ladies get those legs out and as someone else says if people don’t like it, tough.

I like to wear dresses knee length and just use a false tan in light to medium I love the maxi dress worn with a short jacket look but unfortunately at 5ft I've never been able to carry this look off and end up cutting about 10 inches and most of the pattern from any I've purchased in the past

???JoyBloggs I wish my legs were a nice amber colour ? more like the milk bottles another poster has

Ah, but Amberone I'd gladly swap mine for milk bottles... thanks to a multitude of veins my legs look as though a drunken tattooist has been let loose on them, attempting to replicate a map of Spaghetti Junction and several other fancy motorway interchanges. I do have a few ancient photos to console me that they weren't always like this. Tempus fugit and all that! grin
