Pumped up lips

I detest the latest fashion for pumped up lips, they never look natural. What will these women do in 5 years when it is no longer the fashion?

I saw Trinny the make-over guru on tv this week and her bottom lip looked very odd.

I've seen more attractive slugs in my kitchen than most women's pumped up lips. And as for botox, don't they realise that it's botulism? If it got into their digestive system it could kill.

Apparently the reasoning behind the lip fillers is because when we kiss, our lips naturally get fuller from increased blood flow, so they think using a filler makes them look sexy. I think I'd rather kiss the slugs in the kitchen.

i completely agree savvy, i too have always wondered who in their right mind would even consider injecting botulism into their faces. i can only assume that most of those who carry out the procedure, and the recipients have no idea what botox is.
with regard to the pumped up lips, a few years ago when the current craze for lip fillers began, i read somewhere that it originated because women wanted their facial lips to resemble their 'other' lips.
the mind boggles!

They'd all suffocate if they went round a windy corner.

It is a form of self-mutilation, just one step away from self-harm.

Its interesting you say that, as I'm inclined to agree. But I dont think it's that simple.
Pierced ears, tattoos, to name a few procedures arnt linked I the same way to self harm.
Yet they hurt and permanently change the way one looks, and is done in the name of fashion

It's a form of subjugation, the same way the corset was.
Whilst women are seen primarily as sex objects there wont be any change in the lengths they will go to to 'advertise' their sexual currency any time soon.
All body mutilation or makeup is to attract attention from mates.
The boundaries as to which one is acceptable in society changes accordingly (ie the colour red. Cheeks lips dress indicating youth and prostitution, is readily accepted as the norm now)
It's still harder being a young woman than a young man
I wish it were otherwise.
Just my opinion. smile

This thread has talked about the women having the pouted lips and tattooed eyebrows but do not forget that men also are going in for this. I watched a programme a few days ago about a company that sells really expensive handbags. The man that was delivering a bag to a client literally had his lips puffed up
tattooed eyebrows and immaculate hair and not a wrinkle on his forehead and personally I thought he looked so fake and
awful. I have seen several men on TV having work
on their faces like that and they all look like clones.

Your right 3nanny6 no one is immune from the pressure to appear young.
