I'm looking for a bra that's underwired, non padded, straps that can support 36DD bust. I'm thinking of something similar to Triumph's Doreen but underwired - any suggestions of recommendations?

Try miss mary. They do that size

Mogsmaw there’s a lingerie blog that I look at now and again that shows some different shapes - not actually across brands but in terms of shape generally. This is an old post:

The thing about underwired bras is the wires can have very different profiles. Some brands use a wide, shallow shape, others narrow and upright, if you can picture that. The wires should lie at the “corner” where breast meets chest. Known as the “root of breast”. On a lingerie course we all mapped our own with wire and when we compared them the differences were astonishing!
The “shape” you are has little to do with the size of your breasts a narrow rooted Acup can become an FF and it would still have the same shaped root. If you wear too wide a cup it will send you east-west no matter how big or small you are.
I wore non-wired bras exclusively for 10 years till Victoria’s Secret sent me a wired bra in error and it fitted like a dream!
All bra brands choose a shape and when you find one that suits you, stick to it.
There are some great brands recommended here but if they don’t fit your profile, you won’t find them very comfortable or supportive. The only thing to do is try them on. And keep trying till you find your perfect fit.

Oh sorry Atqui - I've only tried unwired swimwear, not the bras.

NotSpaghetti Wed 23-Jun-21 22:20:34

Atqui - yes! I have tried Anita both for bras and for swimwear. I find them rather "American" in their shape - sort of mumsy / poached eggy - if you know what I mean and so I've tried lots but they've always ended up going back. In fact, I returned an Anita swimsuit only last week.
I wish they worked as yes, a lot cheaper.

Have to agree that Prima Donna underwired are amazing tho expensive, but I’m hoping to lose the lockdown weight so looking for something cheaper. Lots of helpful recommendations here

Let it all go sideways if you know what I mean !

Sorry Blossoming I should have been clearer - they make a size that fits a FF but they don’t use a UK system so the double letter isn’t used at all.. Prima Donna FF is generally a G as it’s a European make,
Have a look here - Ample Bosom is really helpful if you want to discuss sizing by the way.

They are expensive but they DO make a FF.
They are European sizes.

I’ve searched but I can’t find any Prima Donna bras in FF on any web sites. I have far too many bras already, I need to stop shopping ?

I have a curvy Kate bra that fits my 38hh very well. I bought it brastop who have big discounts, I assume mine's a previous season colour

I was wary of underwired bras, but last year I tried a Fantasie Helena Full Cup, and was delighted. I now have four: two nude, one white, one black. Really comfortable and supportive, and look good even under thin clothing. I wear nothing else!

I wear M&S . Unpadded, underwired, non slip straps, lace cups, very pretty in nude, black or white. DD sizes. £16.

My friend is trying to find a 44E in cotton with no underwires as suggested by the breast clinic, but no joy yet.

NotSpaghetti Wed 09-Jun-21 06:50:11

Figleaves often have them in the sale.

Those prices are outrageous! I think I’m splashing out of I pay 30 quid for a bra! Also they don’t do FF, so absolutely no use to me.

I will only buy the full cup Panache Tango bra now. It’s so supportive yet I don’t feel like I’m actually wearing a bra!

PinkCakes Mon 07-Jun-21 21:37:33

I've since realised I paid £25.60, so even better! White or black only at that price on that particular website.
