Yammy I agree about having to buy online. I like to feel the fabric and it’s so disappointing when something arrives and it’s thin or otherwise unsuitable. I recently ordered some items and most of them went back. One jumper, which looked nice online, I wouldn’t have looked at twice in the shop. I didn’t even bother open the wrapping.

Then you’ve got all the faddle of sending it back. Last time it was so difficult I ended up having to return to a store and paying for parking to do so.

Ref expenses clothes - I recently read in the Times Money section about a retired Air hostess who still loved clothes from Hobbs /Jaeger etc but didn't have the instant cash and didn't want to add or use a Credit card.
She used a company Klarnar (I think) bought the clothes paid off in x3 equal amounts, no interest.
The article was about how this is being used more and more for one off expensive items, the credit card people are getting concerned.
The interesting bit was this type of card was aimed at a much younger demographic and its older sensible up takers are not the "desired" market, as they pay it off.
Like all credit you need to be careful but interesting all the same.

Agree about the model, not an attractive look, not going to promote the clothes I’m afraid. If you look past that I do like some of the clothes.

Mmm. Just had a look at the web site. Overpriced and dull. I don’t mind about sullen models! They always look like that. They’re probably bored!

My one remaining aunt, who is now 89 years old always wore Jaeger. She was tall and slim and very elegant.

I was going to send a couple of coats to the charity shop but have decided not to after looking at the prices and styles which are classic.

One is an Italian wool coat bought from TK Maxx years ago, think I'll dig it out again!

I always bought a few pieces in the sales when they were stand-alone shops. Though reading reviews on Jaegar, M&S during the summer the quality is not the same or the cut for older ladies, the few pieces I did buy I returned, I did buy online and could not actually try them.

The clothes are classics. If the materials are as good as they used to be then they should be quietly stylish for years.
I like the swing dresses which I'd need to wear over leggings but no point in buying as I don't have occasion to wear them. The Jaeger jewellery items were interesting, could liven up an old outfit.

It is a classic collection, but it lacks the style of the original jaeger and the gorgeous colours they did.

Saying that it isn’t bad really for M&S - a step up from their normal stuff, which is fine but this takes it up a gear.

Oh gosh, I went to have a look, on account of this thread but I thought it was dull, dull, dull, for the most part. Some of the coats were ok, but do I want a £300 coat that I’ll have to wear for years to justify the cost?

I have managed to eat myself into a size 12 over the lockdowns, so need to walk quicker and exercise harder. I am only 64 (a springy chicken according to one GC) love fashion and have a strong yearning for the biker jacket.

Eat yourself into a 12 !! Nowt wrong with that .

Or, as Lemongrove pointed out, because they have been told how to look!

Some of it is traditionally classic. If the quality is still as good - they always specialised in natural, fabrics then they will last a lifetime so paying a few hundred for a good winters cost is worth the expense I think.

I have 2 or 3 coats and they are like new and always look good.

The original jaeger were always a size larger.

I used to buy jaeger before it went into liquidation and bought out by Edinburgh Mills. Then it went badly down hill, so I stopped buying it.

Must have a look.

M&S appear to have taken on some of the brands that had outlets In Debenhams. They have Craghoppers and Nobody’s Child as well as Jaeger and Ghost.

I always think of Jaeger as suiting women of 60+, perhaps because DH's Aunt always wore Jaeger.

And can't imagine my DD buying anything from that range.

Jaeger certainly have the x factor. I've many smart pairs of trousers but regularly my J (ancient) ones are singled out for a complimentary remark by different people. I can't spot any difference. It must surely be the cut.
