She looked gorgeous as usual. But I would have liked the dress to have had a more dramatic belt.
Maybe a wide corset clincher? Or a wide contrasting fabric sash, possibly with a huge bow?

She always looks well groomed and elegant. Nothing too fussy and flouncey.

Not only did I think she looked gorgeous, I’m in awe she can wriggle into a 10 year old dress. I’d have had to have had major alterations done with additional material.
?

Quite agree Urms and she’s had 3 children in the meantime!

Jeepers - I’m surprised anyone is focussed on this. Having had my attention drawn . My view is she dresses well and needs no suggestions from gransnet

Exactly.

( Nice to see you back Iam64.)

That’s what I think too.
Although she is young ( well, to most of us!) we have to remember she’s actually about 40, and she dresses is an age appropriate way, a classic way and the dress pictured ( Grecian
Goddess style) looks gorgeous on her ( and I like the simple belt with it.) She looks lovely and unfussy and never drips in jewels. She also has great hair!

I liked the way Kate wore the dress it didn’t wear her IYKWIM?

I know exactly what you mean, TillyTrotter

I saw the lovely Charlene White, newscaster, on TV the other week in a flowery dress and said "that dress is wearing you Charlene". DH didn't know what I meant. I've not seen her in it since, perhaps she heard me!

Kate has an understated elegance and looked lovely.

Since the 70’s when most of us were worn by Laura Ashley patterned frocks, I’ve worn plain clothes. The current fashion for noisy often floral prints isn’t a good look IMO. Kate does dress well. She Dan do horsey, dog walking, picking the children up from school and evening or more conventional day wear brilliantly. She looks happier than she did after Louis arrived (all those rumours must have been hard )

It's obviously a shape and style she likes in dressing. Yesterday, similar just with a different neck.

Namsnanny Wed 20-Oct-21 12:28:24

She looks stunning on that dress Josieanne the colour suits her.
Thanks for the picture.

grandtanteJE65 Wed 20-Oct-21 12:34:50

Fine the dress is ten years old and she is making a statement that certainly will impact favourably on the environment if she has managed to start a trend, but why should that prevent her from looking in the mirror?

Presumably she did and like what she saw. The rest of us, would either have used a belt in the same fabric as the dress, no belt at all, or deliberately chosen a belt that stood out!

I would have found a leather belt at least 3 inches wide and emerald green!

Namsnanny Wed 20-Oct-21 12:54:07

I like your suggestions GrandtanteJE65
It's fun to chat about colours and fashion, unlike politics ect which gets people hot under the collar.
At least that how I saw the subject.

Namsnanny Wed 20-Oct-21 13:00:31

Kate does florals Iam64 I cant fathom how to post a photo sorry!
Often the dress shape is similar to the red one above, just a different material.

Anniebach.
Somehow I do not believe Kate and William will be on the throne for many years to come.
Charles has great stamina which is clearly inherited and have only to look at his late father and now the queen who has great stamina and what appears to be no intention of 'throwing in the towel'.

Anniebach Wed 20-Oct-21 13:36:09

Daisend1 I so hope you are right,

Namsnanny Wed 20-Oct-21 14:25:47

But, will Kate change her style when she is on the throne?
Any guesses?grin

Alegrias1 Wed 20-Oct-21 14:26:59

She'll probably wear a lot more sheepskin.

Namsnanny Wed 20-Oct-21 14:28:27

I do hope she carries on recycling her clothes, as she has done for most of the time.
It's a good example for others to follow.
If we can stay the same size though!?

Namsnanny Wed 20-Oct-21 14:30:06

???Noooo! The only sheep will be on a zoo by then!

Callistemon Wed 20-Oct-21 14:55:31

If we can stay the same size though!?

Just tried to recycle a dress I bought circa 1979 by squeezing into it.
Alas, no good, I was scared I'd get stuck with it halfway on or off so gave up the attempt.

Is it vintage yet?

Namsnanny Wed 20-Oct-21 15:25:32

We shall have to get inventive Callistemon you know, turn your dress into a skirt and use the sleeves to ahem...widen it?

On second thoughts I would donate it to the charity shop and buy something more suitable whilst I was there!grin

Actually you have raised a good point.
If we are to recycle more often do we need to invest in a sewing machine and sewing classes?
I do have a machine as I remember you have. But I'm not that good at using it. Problens with the tension always ruins my enthusiasm, and causes me much tension?

MerylStreep Wed 20-Oct-21 15:35:55

It’s good to see that Primarni are doing some good with recycling. The same with George at ASDA.

It has got long sleeves but would they be enough? ?

My sewing machine is gathering dust.

Callistemon Wed 20-Oct-21 16:39:34

Well done Primark and George.

Atqui Wed 20-Oct-21 16:42:49

Did someone say she had put on weight?? I hadn’t noticed. She has an enviable figure and always looks lovely . Not sure she will be wearing the gold semi transparent number she wore to the Bond premiere when she is queen. Though on second thoughts , why not ?!

Blossoming Wed 20-Oct-21 16:46:44

I used to have an 18 inch waist. Now I fear I have an 18 inch thigh.
