Cashmere Jumper

I've never had a cashmere jumper and, having received some vouchers for my birthday, decided to treat myself to an M&S roll-neck cashmere jumper. However, reading some of the reviews, they say that the quality this year is really poor. Has anyone bought one? What do you think? I really don't know where else to buy one from. Uniqlo sell them but I've never shopped there.

Another No to Woolovers. I ordered a jumper a few months back, they took the money but did not make it clear, until I chased it, that the stock was not even in the country. Eventually the jumper arrived only for me to find out 10 days later it had been reduced in the latest catalogue.

I bought a lovely pale grey V neck cashmere sweater recently in Tesco. £54 (with a £5 off voucher). It’s really soft and cosy and washes beautifully. I’d buy another if they had other colours but only grey and pink on offer.
I’m not so keen on Woolovers either. Spent a fortune last year on a jumper which bobbles down the inside arms. Wouldn’t buy from them again.

Was just going to comment on Tesco cashmere, Marmight! I have a black v-neck sweater and a bright pink one from Tesco, both bought for around £10 in the sales. I have had them for years and they have been sadly mistreated. They go in the washing machine on a wool wash and the black one has been used as night attire on camping trips. Both are lovely and warm and still going strong.

I have a number of cashmere jumpers I bought from Uniqlo years ago. They were excellent value and still going strong after many washes. I haven’t bought one recently though as their colours do not suit me.
I do like their clothes though.

Woolovers made me think it was my fault so I'm relieved to read these posts.

I do know how to read a washing label and act upon it!
Two fairly expensive jumpers bought last winter have gone into the bag for the ragman who collects from the charity shop.

I have a cashmere jumper from tkmaxx that I bought for under £50 about four years ago that I love, it washes well does not shrink and keeps its shape. I then bought one from Woolovers that bobbled and became v thin. Binned it. I bought one from J Lewis made by Pure and that is wearing well, under £80 in the sale. They are so warm, light and snuggly, would like another but Pure, the thicker gauge, they do two, are a bit pricey. I will have to wait for the sales

If any of you are lucky enough to live nearby or visit Masham in N.Yorkshire there is a used cashmere shop that also sells online and even better every Saturday there is a new but seconds/discontinued cashmere stall, the choice for both men and women is huge.
I got a beautiful White Company cashmere sweater for £50.

As a non-rich southerner, I can't affort cashmere, but very much like winter jumpers by M&S called Cashmilon.
They wash well and have lasted. I don't know if M&S still do Cashmilon.
P.S, I just googled it and they do.

I bought a beautiful green mend’s cashmere jumper from John Lewis and wear it when working from home. I love the feel of cashmere. I agree that m and s quality has gone downhill but couldn’t resist a beautiful ruby red one which I bought two sizes up. Matches my car!

Try House of Bruar as they often have special offers and their cashmere sweaters are lovely. I’ve bought cashmere from John Lewis, Uniqlo, La Redoute which are all good, however, I bought a sweater from EWM which is awful. Also I have a couple of sweaters which are cashmere mixed with either cotton or lambswool.

StephLP how do you feel about vintage cashmere? I have a LOT of cashmere sweaters, mostly bought secondhand. The older ones are definitely of better quality even the M&S ones. If money is no object, Brora is simply beautiful and will last for ever if well cared for.

All this chat about cashmeres got me thinking I must take a look in my local charity shop yesterday. This is what I found for $8 Canadian . What a find and unworn, who throws something this out?

Hi HenethaI am in the South too. Yes M&S still do classic cashmilon jumpers. Many colours . Last forever. Perhaps some people will give them a try like us.
