Cashmere Jumper

I haven't bought from them for a while - mine has lasted well.

I bought some last winter, Elegran and the quality has gone down, all made in China now too. I thought they would be British made.

Lands End are generally good quality but I notice that some of their jumpers are now made in China too. I ordered some cotton ones and they were so thick and heavy they were uncomfortable so I sent them back.

Is it that I'm fussy?

I buy recycled cashmere -jumpers, throws and ponchos from Turtle Doves a lovely friendly company based in Shrewsbury. Ticks a few boxes for me!

I can’t vouch for the quality, but I was looking on the Landsend site this morning, and they have a deal on at the moment for roll neck cashmere sweaters at £59. They have good reviews, but does anybody have first hand experience of what their cashmere is like?

The other thing I would say is that I have never paid full price I always buy from the sales.

Whitewavemark2 The M&S are around £89 which is the most money I've ever spent on a jumper. Maybe I should save up and buy a more expensive one.

Have you looked at the M&S sweaters?

The denser the stitch the better the quality and it should be soft but not too soft as it softens over time.

Other than that and if you want to have an idea you could look on line to say Peter Hahn - they have some eye wateringly expensive stuff, but also the sale is worth a look.

Woolovers gets dodgy reviews and the quality has dropped .

Brora is amazing, but it comes at a price.

Elegran: Thank you for this link. I'll have a look now.

Sorry to put a damper on it but I have had problems with everything I bought from Woolovers despite carefully following their washing instructions.

Cashmere does definitely vary in quality, and like everything else you largely get what you pay for, but if you go for broke and get the best quality you can afford you will have a sweater for life - provided you look after it and wash it properly…

I think there are many grades of cashmere. You can tell by the price usually.

I've never had a cashmere jumper and, having received some vouchers for my birthday, decided to treat myself to an M&S roll-neck cashmere jumper. However, reading some of the reviews, they say that the quality this year is really poor. Has anyone bought one? What do you think? I really don't know where else to buy one from. Uniqlo sell them but I've never shopped there.
