New fashion women's jeans.

At 66 I’m still wearing slim and skinny jeans and have no intentions on stopping. I think wide leg trousers are deeply unflattering and frumpy unless you are 6’ tall

I bought a couple of wide leg jeans from M&S. The Autograph pair are expensive and much more than I would usually spend on a pair of jeans but are very comfortable, like wearing a pair of trousers. I wear those when I want to be a bit more dressy. I'm wearing Collection ones today. The Collection jeans I think are slightly wider than Autograph and also feel more like jeans. I'm 5'4'' and short is perfect length on me. Hope that helps.

At last wider leg jeans, lets be honest, how many older women look good in tight or narrow leg jeans.. Even some younger women would do themselves a favour and not show of the huge hips' and unshapely legs. We cant all look like models. I have walked behind bandy legs, bowie legs, spindle legs and fat legs. Not a pretty sight. How much more feminine we will all look in the wider leg jeans. The problem is where do you purchase them, they are promoted but in which store.???

I need wide leg jeans as I have a condition called lypodemia which means the fat cells from the hips down try so hard to retain their fat that it is very hard to have slim legs, so these jeans are perfect for me. Nothing to do with how I look in other jeans - I simply can't get my legs into any other fit.

I, too, have lipodoema and I have given up on jeans as to fit my hips (my worst affected area) and legs l would need to buy a pair around three sizes larger than my normal dress size and my smaller waist would have six or eight inches gap. I like Marks and Spencer straight leg elasticated waist trousers as l also have short legs and, at average height, look much better in these. I tried some wide legged trousers on holiday once, thinking they would hide my legs. In fact the opposite was true as I found out from the photos. They made me look short and dumpy.

The only jeans I dislike are the ones with massive splits in the knee, or no knees in them at all, that some young women wear. I remember them being fashionable when my sons were growing up - my MIL sewed patches over the splits when she babysat one weekend.

Well I, for one, like wide leg (and straight leg) trousers. I'm a size 18 and 5'4". Frankly I look ridiculous in close fitting jeans, trousers, leggings or jeggings. A bit like a plump pear balanced on two cocktail sticks!

I like to be comfortable in my clothes and prefer loose fitting styles. I really don't care what other people think of how I dress, I dress for me not anyone else.

This the reason I never post. People on here are VERY judgemental and nasty. I will carry on looking only

I have never worn jeans because I don’t like thick material for clothes and I am not keen on jeans on older women anyway. I am sure a lot of women don’t look at their backside in the mirror.

Different strokes for different folks. If someone is happy with how they look in their jeans, so be it. I like jeans to fit well and my favourites are 'Not Your Daughters Jeans'

It should be possible to appreciate what suits a person (male or female) without having to worry about being PC about it. Certain styles don’t suit certain people - it’s as simple as that. I wear clothes that I’m comfortable in, but hopefully ones which suit me - and when you’re 5’0” that’s not easy!! ?

Well for me I’m totally the opposite I can’t abide wide legged trousers, blooming flappy things too much material, but to be honest that’s me, I neither care or am interested in what type of fashion others wear! I’m more into the type of person and not what they are wearing,

Lucca and others are right. We all say that kind of thing sometimes, except those of us who are perfect. I like all styles- wide leg, straight, tight whatever. I used to love wearing dressy palazzo trousers to the orchestra or theatre, and I am quite small. I'm not sure about wide jeans though. I think they would be unflattering. Straight leg maybe are more flattering than tight.

I preferred the boot leg jeans as they were more flattering on me, they seem to have gone out of fashion now. I tend to wear straight rather than the really skinny jeans. Per Una and Next have a good selection in various styles. I’ve also had some nice fitting jeans from Monsoon.

It’s good that people have the confidence to wear whatever they want and it’s not our place to judge. However, I’m sure we have all seen people dressed in things that really don’t suit them, especially when the weather gets really hot, that seems to bring out the worst in people’s fashion choices. Wear whatever you like, personally I prefer clothes that are comfy, suit my shape and are appropriate for the occasion. I can’t stand anything too tight or clingy, it’s good we all have different styles. Not everyone has a good sense of what suits them though and I’m sure we have all seen (or had) fashion disasters at some point.

Are we seriously being told that none of the offended on this thread has ever seen someone and thought that if the person had an honest friend, or indeed a full length mirror, they might have chosen a different outfit? Has anyone ever been asked to pass an opinion on a friend's outfit, and found themselves only able to say 'It doesn't matter in the least what you look like - I'm saying nothing, just wear it - who cares?' How ridiculous would that be when most people do care what they look like and prefer to wear something that at least fits and looks reasonable. The conclusion must be that if we can't say, or even think it seems, that another person might look better and it really doesn't matter at all, we should walk into a shop, take any old thing off the rail and stuff ourselves into it, regardless. I thought the post was quite innocent, not insulting, and I hope Lilian isn't reeling around her house stung beyond measure by the reaction to comments that she is entitled to make as generalisations. Like everyone else, I've seen some sartorial disasters, and haven't felt any kind of sneeering satisfaction - just a thought that something a little more flattering might have been better. Just saying!
