I want to be lifted and separated!

I would be interested to know how you get on starshine. I am also a 40B. Some of the bras for 'bigger ladies' don't offer a 40B. I have a broad back and this is my size.

I have ordered so many bras online and sent them back. I am currently wearing a Triumph underwired bra which is comfy but has quite sheer cups so is only OK under thicker clothes - unless you like the nipple effect - so is going to be no good in summer.

I think underwired is the way to go. I have always worn underwired bras.

I saw an online company called No1Bra which looked quite good. I haven't ordered from them. They claim to have no dig wires, though this has never been a problem for me.

Yes, I have just had a look at the link that Kamiso provided and there's plenty of choice there. Thank you both. I've also emailed a (fairly) local independent seller who has been around for many years, though I didn't know about her, and she stocks many brands apparently. I'll catch up with my daughter today with regards to an outing, perhaps to Harrogate which isn't too far away.

Another fan of Miss Mary of Sweden here. I prefer underwired which give good separation as well as lift, and strong straps.

I am going to check out Bravissimo. I have never been measured properly in the last 15 years or so. I just go with what fits and that's been ok up to now but I really do want better support under the new clothes I've bought.
I tend to wear non- wired styles as they're very comfortable but I'm guessing underwired would give more support.
My daughter has offered to take me to wherever I choose and I think Bravissimo will be a good place to start. I'll be interested to find out if I am in the correct size as I'm beginning to doubt it now!
I was going to order several styles from online places but I think, overrall, it will be quicker, and obviously more accurate, to visit a specialist store.

Elomi are from the same people as R&P and Fantasie. Underwires are the way to go.

Another vote for Bravissimo here. I was wearing a 36C and they measured me as a 32F. Very comfortable bras.

Are you sure you're 40B?

A friend thought she was for years and was never happy with her bras - after a trip to Rigby & Peller it turned out she was something like a 36D.

Being particularly flat chested I have no need of such an item..?

I second GG13’s advice . I have been to both and was transformed.

Having a narrow back and a pair of FFs I prefer side support bras. Some lovely ones on Bravissimo and Belle Lingerie web sites.

Rigby & Peller if your budget allows, if your budget is smaller Bravissimo.
