Do you think the baggy, shapeless, oversized clothing trend is flattering?

I think it looks terrible on most people.

What's the point of looking after your figure, only to hide it in swathes of loose oversized, droopy shapeless material?
Also, I've noticed that this particular look makes people look far bigger than they actually are.
It's a look that's only really flattering on the very slim and the very young, and even then it still doesn't look that great.
Its not going to look good on the average British woman.

Of course that's just my opinion.
What do you think?

Some of us just love talking about frocks GreenLady. We’re sharing things we like, not criticising other grans.

Lovely Marydoll - and plenty of room for pockets in that full skirt!
The cake looks good too ?

Wait until the sun comes out there will be plenty of flesh on display mostly ghostly white but scarlet after a few days of spring sunshine. Oops where did I put my white jeans and cold shoulder top?

I once treated myself to a baggy, draped sort of jacket that I thought looked rather good. The first time I wore it DH said "Why are you wearing a dressing gown?" and it went straight back to the shop. I like a loose top over a pair of jeans but all the really baggy stuff just makes me look ten times bigger.

She and ger mother made the cake! One layer of Victoria sponge, one of chocolate and one of traditional fruit cake. It was delicious.

Very clever!

Hope you saved us some wink

Beautiful dress Mary

Many of Dior’s ‘New Look’ dress had pockets, including wedding dresses; so your DiL is continuing a fine grand in haute couture!

‘Dresses’ and ‘fine tradition’ hmm

The women / pocket thing furthers my post-Jungian Cornforth Theory of Handbags; I will expand if anyone is willing to listen … ?

This is my new spring dress. I am 5’ 7” and size 18. I also try to dress age appropriate. I know it isn’t fashionable to do so, but honestly at battling on for 80 there are some fashions that I would look ridiculous in.

Whitewavemark2 Wed 16-Mar-22 04:12:20

I’ll try again, but it won’t take the picture, so that post was useless!

FannyCornforth Wed 16-Mar-22 04:46:44

Oh no, I really wanted to see it WW

Pockets are political.

Now that is a really nice dress. If only it was a bit shorter.

Whitewavemark2 Wed 16-Mar-22 10:48:43

And this is the sort of summer dress I like

Wouldn’t work as well.

Yes!!

I wish I was 5' 7"!
Everything looks better if you're taller.

At one time I was 5' 5" but seem to have shrunk. My DGD has well overtaken me but says she doesn't want to be tall - I keep telling her it's wonderful.

Whitewavemark2 Wed 16-Mar-22 10:52:10

I really like retro stuff, but just showing my age I think?
