Can anyone recommend a gentle everyday perfume that is long lasting but isn't overpowering? I like flowery scents.

My daughter uses Noa and Cashmere (Next) a lot of the time and she smells lovely when she does.
I use Elizabeth Arden’s Green Tea as a summer scent but don’t think of it as being flowery, to me it’s more fresh.

I like most of the ones recommended but as I’ve aged they just don’t last on me.
I have decided that ageing skin lacks natural oils and it is this mixing with oils in the perfume makes them last.
Does anyone else find this?

Rive Gauche in the blue tin has a more sophisticated smell which seems to last well.

Germanshepherdsmum Thu 01-Sept-22 09:43:49

I love Rive Gauche, for when I need to seem sophisticated!

My favourite is Victor and Rolf Flowerbomb Eau de Parfum it’s a floral explosion I buy a 100 ml bottle once a year. Its not cheap but it lasts it makes me feel dressed up ready for a special day or night out. We only ever go out early evening these days but it’s the finishing touch for a lovely occasion.

Givenchy She is one of my favourites, but a bit pricey for me now that I'm retired and no State Pension until next year. However, I go to a website (I think it was recommended on one of the GN threads a year or so ago) and you can put your favourite perfume in the Search and it will show you their versions which are similar. It's called "Perfume Parlour" (I'm not connected to the company in any way!) I've bought three of their fragrances and they have all been more or less like the originals, particularly the one that mimics Mon Guerlain.

For "proper" perfumes, a lovely floral is Moringa by Body Shop although I know a lot of people won't buy Body Shop stuff now.

Nude at next absolutely love it. Not expensive too.

Always used L’air du temps and Rive Gauche but I feel I need to branch out so Noa sounds nice, I feel a trip to a large department store coming on soon and some testing! I agree old dry skin doesn’t retain the fragrance . I also had no idea there was a cream L’air du temps- will look out for it .

For everyday use, I wear perfume from the Clarins range. Lovely light and refreshing.

Esmay Thu 01-Sept-22 14:29:24

I forgot about L' Air Du Temps -it's lovely. And a vote for Cashmere from Next .
I also love L'Aimant .

I'm going to see if I can get the dupe of Jo Malone .

And here's one that I really miss -Laura Ashley No 1 in that beautiful bottle .
Now so expensive on ebay .

Another beautiful perfume is Agent Provocateur. MY DIL bought me a 200ml bottle on line for my Christmas...I'm sure it cost her £28.00

Another vote for Agent Provocateur. I buy it online ( Perfumes Direct?), and it’s not too pricey.
I also like First by Van Cleef and Arpels.

Try Shay and Blue ones. They do tester size (5ml) and handbag sized bottles (20ml I think) so you don't have to splash out a fortune to see which ones you like, and if you sign up for newsletters, every so often there is a promotion where you get 2 testers, 2 handbag sized scents and 2 handcreams for £25. They are great value, and you can mix and match or stick to one range in the bundle. There is probably one due sometime soon.

AskAlice Thu 01-Sept-22 18:25:58

Esmay, where do you buy L'Aimant? It used to be one of my favourites but I thought they had stopped making it...

Lucca Thu 01-Sept-22 18:26:15

Gucci Bloom is lovely.
Guerlain Insolence
Chance Chanel.

Lucca Thu 01-Sept-22 18:27:23

CanadianGran Thu 01-Sept-22 18:56:07

I don't usually wear floral scents, but was given a sample of L'Interdit by Givenchy and it was lovely.

I like the Green or White Tea scents by Elizabeth Arden, and I know the White Tea now comes in a few more floral varieties.

hollysteers Thu 01-Sept-22 19:06:38

L’Occitane has some lovely scents.

Milton Brown are doing some lovely perfumes not cheap but a small spray lasts all day. I'm saving for one.

Hi AskAlice ,

I last bought L'Aimant from a big Boots Christmas two years ago.
I'm planning a trip tomorrow and it's on my list .
Failing that there are two independently owned chemists -which are a hike , but they might have it .

There are so many new perfumes , but it's one of my all time favourites .

I hope that you find it .

Esmay Fri 02-Sept-22 09:17:01

Lucca -you reminded me that I used to wear First by Van Cleef and Arpels and I loved it !
