Can anyone recommend a gentle everyday perfume that is long lasting but isn't overpowering? I like flowery scents.

Thanks Exdancer for posting this as it’s what I have been searching for as well. I like Yardley’s April Violets but it doesn’t last all day. I have the soap and talc to match. Their Peony is quite strong to start but fades nicely to a gentle perfume. I liked Yves Rocher Evidence but you can’t get them in the UK anymore. Currently I use Body for a little more sophistication but I think it’s discontinued.

Where I can I buy small samples online to try out first. Lots of perfume companies offer this.

Another thread about perfume, I'm not knocking that, why not it's always good for a revisit.

Perfumes are very subjective and personal. My favourite for a while has been Hermes Eau de Merveilles I think it's fairly long lasting certainly compared to some of the Jo Malone's I have bought, lovely but no staying power. I have just discovered a new brand Bon Parfumeur wandering into a little arty shop in Alfriston, Sussex recently, I bought a lovely fairly fragrant flowery one from their range, and then discovered them on line.

Another Anais Anais wearer here. As I’ve got older I find I react badly to so many different smells, including perfumes I’ve worn for years AA is only one I can wear now AND its well priced !

I like Weekend by Burberry which is light and fresh and "spring-like".

I have allergies plus asthma so heavy musky perfumes make me ill, eg. Poison.

I’ve been using JOOP LE BAIN for many many years and love it.
Have a nice day

Issue is my favourite perfume of all I've loved- all of them.
'A Little Issey'is the most recent and it's gentler than the earlier scents. I'd recommend it and the bottle is much easier to store too

Superdrug do a range of perfumes called Artiscent. I have tried all of them and Petit Rose, Lily Amour, Jasmine Nuit and Spring Fleur are all floral. They smell lovely and seem to last very well on me. Quite often they are on offer too.

I wear DKNY Be Delicious, Chloe, but D&G Light Blue is my favourite.

Zara sells Jo Malone perfumes under a different name. I have bought them and they are good and also cheaper.

My signature perfume is Eternity by Calvin Klein also Pleasures by Estée Lauder. Apparently I smell great as I waft by smile

I posted a message on Nadine Baggot's Facebook group recently on this very subject and received so many replies! I was looking for a citrusy but more autumnal version of Estee Lauder's Bronze Goddess Azur which I love - haven't found one yet but that range is not super expensive. However, Zara do some wonderful scents and very inexpensive - the original ones were developed by yer actual Jo Malone! My current faves are Femme and Apple Juice - which is very apply, while Femme is more sensual. I can't wear perfume on my bod as I'm allergic to most ingredients found in perfumes, so I have to spray on clothes. Agree with TerriBull above about Hermes Eau des Merveilles - it is lovely. Also, recomment trying Fragrantica to find what you might like - it's got a really helpful search tool - put in a perfume you love, or a couple, then try looking at what notes they have in common, then look for some with those notes - it worked for me, as I found Bal D'Afrique by Byredo kept coming up, so I had a niff and bought it!

'Paris' for the winter and 'Mademoiselle' Coco Chanel for the summer. Wonderful!

Clinique, Aromatics Elixir

I like that one, too. I used to like white linen.

I used to love White Linen. Wore it continuously for years.
If I smell it now I feel quite a headache 'coming on'. Very sickly smell

Not a perfume as such but I love the Clarins body sprays for everyday. The do both an uplifting one Eau dynamasante as well as the more relaxing eau ressoursante

L'ancome Tresor, the original one. I was sitting in the hairdressers many years ago, reading a magazine article about the effect perfumes had on men. Many of them liked Tresor and some said it made them want to hug the person wearing it. Reader, I bought that perfume! One guy asked me what it was because he'd like to get it for his wife. I haven't had any spontaneous hugs but I live in hope! ??

Try Next, several different scents at a fraction of the price of designer ones.

crazygranmda Fri 02-Sept-22 12:39:50

YSL Opium- the original one.

Keekaboo Fri 02-Sept-22 12:45:44

Marks and Spencer’s Florentyna .

A lot of perfume is too strong for me and gives me a headache but I’ve been wearing this for years and always get lovely comments about it it’s not expensive and you can buy a small bottle too which is great for a handbag size.
They have the full range which you can layer shower gel body lotion etc.

Poppyjo Fri 02-Sept-22 12:56:52

I am always being asked what perfume I am wearing. It is called Insolence by Guerlain. It is not too heavy and it lasts all day. It is expensive but lasts a very long time.

Growing0ldDisgracefully Fri 02-Sept-22 13:03:48

I love Gucci Bamboo and Gucci Guilty. It's also possible to get cheap copies of those, which I also use (cost of living and all that!).
I have also recently bought a couple of the Lidl perfumes at £4.49 (perfume, not eau de toilette!) and they are good for general daytime use and last well during the day, called Lovely and Challou. They do another one, Femelle, which is a stronger heavier perfume, probably better for evening wear.

Everyone's skin is different. How a perfume smells is altered by our skin. It never smells the same on one person as it does another. The only way to find your perfect perfume is to try it on. Always leave a couple of hours before you decide to purchase though so that you know exactly how it will be on your skin once it has settled.
