I am tall and slim, in fact the same weight as I was in my early 20s. No, I am NOT boasting, the only way I can describe it is that the weight seems to be rearranged differently, and has certainly ‘gone south’ add wrinkles and you do not have a body that should be inflicted on a beach full of holiday makers! Also the colour palette that suited my previously chestnut brown hair had to be totally changed now I am virtually white.
Personally I don’t take any notice of sizes in shop. In a morning, visiting different shops, I could fit into anything from a 10 to a 16, so I do try clothes on before buying.
It is depressing, but then I remember the type of clothes that my grandmother’s generation wore when in their 80s. I tend to stick to jeans and well cut trousers with good quality tops and jackets. My major regret is no longer being able to wear high heels. My mother wore quite high heels well into her 80s.
I am reminded of a quotation from Queen Victoria (though I don’t think she was talking about clothes!) “It will be fine so long as it doesn’t frighten the horses”.
