Can anyone recommend a good - long- raincoat?

I have a Regatta warm lined waterproof jacket, which needs replacing. I would prefer to get a longer style this time, but the ones I’ve seen - in Seasalt for instance - are hugely expensive. Is it worth investing? Are they good? Or any other recommendations? Thanks

Many years ago, I had a gorgeous navy trench coat, almost ankle length, great with boots, from Robertson's Rainwear in Ayr. It was a size 14...so was I in those days!!
I still miss that shop, lovely fashionable rainwear.

I have a Sea Salt raincoat which keeps me bone dry. However the hood is too big and won't stay up as it doesn't have pull ties the wind blows it off so I wear a hat. I'm pleased with but it's not the most stylish item. I have Hobbs Trench coat which is much more stylish but only shower proof. Can't win the all!

I bought from M and Co a lovely waterproof coat with a thin winter lining for about £79.00 I am very pleased with it. If I still feel cold I wear a thick sweater underneath. It is navy with white spots.

Thanks Joseanne, I'd not be wearing a fleece or thick jumper so I think I'll go for the smaller size (and hope to lose a pound or 10 as well!)

Thank you for all you help

I should have added that on me, the Ruth Langsford coat comes to just below knee length. I'm 5' 3".

I have a Seasalt coat bought 5 years ago and still going strong.

Since hoods are always huge on me I bought this one from QVC. I have it on three payments of £36.

Has anyone tried Tog24?
I've had a look, and there are a couple of coats in the sale that I like, but I've never heard of them before, or what their sizing is like.

My DH has the man's version and it does the job.

Yes that is what I mean.

Try looking on Vinted .Great bargains and very easy site to use .I have just bought( albeit a short raincoat ) a Joules waterproof for £10 + postage very happy with purchase.

I find my Windermere by Cotton Traders, as pictured above by Joseanne very useful. They are reduced by £10 to £65 at the moment.

raincoats

The longer length seasalt tsincoats are lovely. I think they're influenced by the recent dryrobe craze, as they have the same furry lining as a dryrobe.

Can anyone tell me about the fit of Sea Salt? I'm between sizes, so go for the bigger or smaller size?

It depends what you want to wear underneath. I went bigger this time because I often wear a fleece or thick jumper underneath.

I want one that comes to the top of my short wellingtons. One dog walker I meet has one that does that but she only comes up to my chest.

The alternative is to struggle into waterproof trousers every morning - so I get wet trousers instead which is a pain.

The one I’m wearing at the moment is one I’ve had for at least 20 years, and still going strong. It is a full on wet weather walkers jacket and cost an arm and leg at the time , but so worth it.

This one is £52 and available in all sizes from 8 to 28 smile

AND it’s Sea Salt, AND it’s brand new!

Joseanne Thu 24-Nov-22 14:46:00

Just to be sure if you're buying SeaSalt online to check the various lengths. My dog walking one is the same type but the extra length on the newer one makes all the difference.

I have a few Seasalt waterproof coats and have always found them very reliable. My Cotton Traders wasn't waterproof enough all the time.

Farmor15 Thu 24-Nov-22 14:39:27

Lighthouse worth looking at. Both my daughters and I have bought raincoats/jackets from them and they seem good quality. Better than Cotton Traders one I bought a few years ago which wasn't a good fit.

I think mine is a Plant Hunter, but without the fluffy lining

I think £70 would be ok, but I can’t see any Seasalt ones at that price. Maybe I’ll wait for their sale.

There are lots on eBay Sarah
Some are under £50 and they are brand new.
Look at the link I’ve posted and then go to the Sea Salt shop.
