A bit too Bet Lynch?

Last week I bought a Next blue fleece top which has been ideal in the cold weather, worn indoors as a jumper or outdoors as a jacket. I therefore decided to order the same style in another colour. I chose the rust version, which can only be described as leopard print. At the age of 76 will I look ridiculous? Honest answers please! tchsmile

Syhsal I think your top looks lovely better than ordinary blue/green I’m looking on next website I want want. Thanks for posting pics 😊

Go for it. I’m currently wearing my Bet Lynch thermal t-shirt. It’s lovely and warm.

Coco51 Tue 13-Dec-22 14:14:34

Not at a,ll ~ it looks cosy. My OH’s grandmother used to say ‘if it suits the wearer sod the starer.’ Keep cosy!

You will look great, don’t worry about other people if you like it wear it with pride.

I collected the rust garment yesterday. It is quite muted and I love it! I prefer the blue but in this cold weather they will be alternated. I have some needlecord magic pants in navy and also in black so that is me sorted! My Skechers boots are black suede lace-ups but the laces are too short so I have ordered some longer ones encrusted with rhinestones for a bit of bling! I think Bet would approve!

Lovely.

To have skin that looked good with rust would be nice, I'm jealous. Rhinestones are always good, as are diamonds. Can't have too much sparkle.

Would be asking if you didn't really know the answer, it's nothing to do with your age. When you go shopping you need a friend who will tell you the truth - send it back!

If you like it and feel happy wearing it, then why not?! smile

Nana4 Tue 13-Dec-22 14:41:41

Go for it ! We all like it, better than being beige!!!
Merry Christmas!!!

NannaFirework Tue 13-Dec-22 15:14:42

No! It will be fab - never I repeat Never too old for a bit of this classic, annual
Fashion print 👍❤️😍

Sardinia2020 Tue 13-Dec-22 15:16:26

It’s great. Too many older people wear beige and would look a lot better wearing colour.

suzikyoo Tue 13-Dec-22 15:50:26

As an old neighbour of ours used to say: 'If it suits the wearer, bug**r the starer"!

lovebeigecardigans1955 Tue 13-Dec-22 15:51:07

The fabric may be a bit Bet Lynch but the style is not. If you like it and it is warm and comfortable then it doesn't matter what other people think.

Never too old to wear animal print.

Chestnut Tue 13-Dec-22 16:08:03

I have been looking for a fleece! Is this the one? It doesn't look as loose as yours but seems to be the same. 🤔

Chestnut Tue 13-Dec-22 16:14:48

What I like is that it doesn't have a hood! Everything now has a hood, which is so annoying on a dressing gown. The only thing I want with a hood is my waterproof anorak in case it gets cold or starts raining when I'm out.

Greciangirl Tue 13-Dec-22 16:19:24

I am 77, and wear quite a lot of leopard print stuff.
I also wear leopard print leggings.
I don’t consider myself to look tarty.
Nowadays, anything goes.

GrammaH Tue 13-Dec-22 16:44:13

It's not exactly "in your face" Bet Lynch is it? It's perfectly fine, wear whatever you like, who cares what anyone else thinks or says. I'm 64 & I'm past caring about others' opinions and so should you be!

NanTheWiser Tue 13-Dec-22 16:46:42

I love a bit of leopard print! I’ve just dug out my ancient “Pat Butcher” coat - hip-length black showerproof with an oversized faux fur leopard print collar and cuffs, I can button up the collar at the neck, and it’s very cosy in the current freezing weather. I have several leopard print tops too, which satisfy my inner Bet Lynch!

Spoil yourself girl, whatever what age, provided you look decent, go for it.

These are more what I'd call animal print, shysal
Yours is very understated, enjoy wearing it.

Callistemon
Please don’t ever do that again 😱
Those pictures are seared into my brain.

Oh! You don't like my style, then, MerylStreep?
😁

I’m 76 and I’d love it - go for it . Who cares what people wear nowadays - just as long as it’s warm, comfortable, and YOU like it on you.
If you feel uncomfortable once you have tried it on then - no- send it back.
But I’d happily wear it - not that you know who I am - but I used to do some larger sized modelling back in the day so I enjoy fashion, but am not ever dressed up to the nines nowadays. That would fit into my wardrobe happily. Just don’t pair it with hoop earrings and a bouffant smile !

suelld Tue 13-Dec-22 17:38:45

Oooh disagree #Chestnut
I love a dressing gown with a hood - in this weather anything with a hood is good - it’s been soooooooo cold I even put a balaclava on in bed the other day - worked a treat even if I looked like an elderly retired Ninja!

Bijou Tue 13-Dec-22 17:38:46

Wear what YOU like and not bother what other people like.
I never could understand why winter clothes are always in black or other drab colours.

ileea Tue 13-Dec-22 18:24:36

Go for it. I'm 63 and I wear what I like. Bright colours and patterns. I spent way too many years worrying about what others might think about what I wore. I would also wear a pvc skirt and stockings.
So wear it with confidence and to heck with what anyone might say.
Ps I liked Bet Lynch.

25Avalon Tue 13-Dec-22 18:31:52

Not my personal choice but if you like it I can’t see anything wrong with either of them. Bet Lynch would have been full on bright yellow and black with a bit (rather a lot) of cleavage on display, and don’t forget the big blobby earrings. Yours looks quite smart. Treat yourself.
