Post 70 Fashion: why does nothing in the shops fit me?

I am well past my ‘ three score years and ten’ and find I have given up trying to find clothes that I like or fit. Those of us in this age bracket know that our body shape is not the same as it was. For example, in my case my waist has sort of merged into my hips, I have shrunk so that now even short length is too long and I am not as slender as un earlier years. I cannot wear heels and I like to cover my saggy arms. I find I dress in jeans, or jeggings most if the time because I cannot find anything that fits properly.
I wish there were labels that catered for the likes of me! Any suggestions? On-line is a disaster, jumpers down to my knees trousers that fit round the waist but hips like a clowns outfit. The last pair were short length but although leg was short the gusset came half way to me knees so I really need help.

Hi,

I know what you mean about finding suitable styles.. They just don't seem to be out there. One day after one of my many days of scrolling the internet looking for something suitable I stumbled across a company called 'Luvvey Clothing'.
What I really loved is that they are UK based and you can actually talk to a person if you have any queries. I've ordered numerous items of clothing from them since, from fine knit jumpers to Maxi dresses.
I believe that they are more of a one size fits all kind of company, which really suited me being a size 20.
I've added the link so that anyone else that was struggling like me can have a look and see what they think. If I can help one person, I'd be happy. I've certainly never looked back! smile

I buy mostly online now.

Masai, Gudrun Sjoden, Hobbs, Blue Vanilla and I have just discovered Pont Neuf and Kasbah Clothing. Not saying I like everything each one does by any stretch of the imagination but I can usually find something I like from one of them.

I agree with you all but why do shops insist on stocking the tiny sizes only? I nipped into WhiteStuff and M&S locally and the biggest size on the racks in styles I’d buy was 14 but up to 24 online? No wonder the shops are closing! Look outside, the average shopper is not on the small end of the scale 😡

I suppose the best thing would be to contact M&S and gripe to them- may do that. I don’t count Primark as a viable option especially for undies and so marks n sparks is the last “actual” shop left in town.
I hate: Elastoplast coloured bras for “the fuller figure” - there are all the colours in the rainbow so why? Sooo b****y boring.

I liked the Midi shaped knickers but they have changed them to Shorties and they’re not the same

And hoodies. Please somebody just make a cardigan with and nice revered collar and stop wasting material on hoods that always make me look like the grim reaper if I actually use them.

Clothes without pockets is one thing but fake pockets on trousers just does my b******g head in👹 yet I’ve seen baby clothes with pockets galore for goodness sake. What they gonna store in them - a spare dummy?

Don’t start me on M and S Midi knickers!!!😡 I think it was about a year ago they stopped doing them and replaced them with ghastly things that are boring and the sizes are completely different.

Assistants tell me they would be wealthy if they had a £ for every woman who complains about the disappearing midis, but nobody listens to them.

😁 that made me smile!

However, Elastoplast coloured bras don't show through if you're wearing anything white, cream or light.
Even 15 year old DGD has just discovered that fact!
