Spring is in the air - getting my bod ready! 🌞

I'm off to a wedding this weekend so having to put in a bit of an effort to scrub up well!

This week I've had a cut and root colour, pedicure and manicure, eyebrow wax and against my better judgement an upper lip wax (bloody agony).

So I'm hot to trot = anybody else indulging? smile

AreWeThereYet Thu 18-May-23 14:31:59

Pedicure (at home) for feet and lashings of moisturiser for legs, body and arms over the last couple of weeks ready for the t-shirts, skirts and sandals now the sun is shining. Having said that I'm still in my leggings and hoodie at the moment thanks to the NE wind.

I’ve de-fuzzed , bought high factor sun blocker and ironed my summer clothes , in the middle of taking in a new dress and trousers.

I’m not very hot to trot though😳

The top half isnt bad,and just over three weeks ago had underarms and legs waxed to go in for hip surgery,as I am not very hairy will last about 6months, but my poor neglected feet and legs need attention as I cant bend to moisturise.
I have podiatry on monday, but need a pedicure, and tips how to moisturise without dislocating my new hip,so far all attempts havent worked out.

dte I hope you're recovering well.

As for your neglected feet - what about a spray oil? You could spray your feet and lower legs with an unguent of some sort and then rub feet together, without crossing the operated leg over the other, if you get my drift!

downtoearth Thu 18-May-23 17:44:25

Didnt think of that,*Riverwalk*,thankyou..

I've shaved my legs and paid more attention to moisturising them. I've added just a little bit of self tan when moisturising in an effort not to look like a ghost. It wasn't so much summer hopefully being on the horizon but was having hydrotherapy so didn't want to let the side down. Must get the eyebrows done but the place I use to use has closed so it has been a DIY job lately which is OK but not as professional. I did have a cut and colour.x

I defuzzed my legs of their winter woollies and have slapped lots of body oil on them in preparation for some instant tan. Tried on some summer clothes and am having my hair cut and coloured next week. In two weeks time (whispers) I am having some tweakments, never had anything before, definitely wouldn't do anything surgical but having a little botox and a smidgeon of fillers. Please keep judgemental comments to yourselves, I am really not interested. Having had a couple of dear friends die recently I've decided to do a few things for myself. I've also got tickets for the Olympics next year to watch every day of the dressage at the Palace of Versailles. I am beyond thrilled, it is my absolute dream and I have had a huge smile on my face since last Friday.

I've booked a chiropodist appt for the week before I go on a short break, hair appointment also made for trim. Yesterday I was at the dentist for a clean and polish. I will also get my sister to put nail polish on my finger and toe nails. Need to treat myself to some tanning moisturiser for my pasty legs!!!

AreWeThereYet Thu 18-May-23 19:27:14

downtoearth have you ever tried those lotion applicators that are intended for your back? Basically a pad on a long handle. I've never tried them but they might work for your legs and feet.

I defuzzed my legs of their winter woollies grin

I have a long handled sponge that came with a seat for over the bath.
I have zerodouble base gel that I normally use on legs and feet, really good results.
I get cream on the floor,up the wall, over the bath mat,in fact everywhere bar my legs and feet, really frustrating working from a distance with a tool with a mind of its own.
Fortunately I have little short legs, would dread to think how I would cope if I had longer legsgrin

I have my hair and manicure done regularly.
Hair yesterday, nails next Thursday followed by my first ever pedicure.
Going away next Friday and hoping it will be warm enough able to wear sandals at last.

* Riverwalk* and AreWeThereYet
Just ordered some spray oil,and a long handled lotion applicator to knock those feet and legs into shape, thanks for the recommendation

What a sparkling, well groomed crowd here!

We finally have some warm weather as well. I went for a well needed pedicure a few weeks ago, and may book another before my son's wedding the first week of June.

I'm afraid I inherited my French father's genetics for an abundance of hair, so I try to keep on it year round. Legs shaved about every 3 days, and I have used a laser on them to lessen the abundance.

I was just admiring a co-worker's brows and have a recommendation for wax and tint to tidy those up. I do have a few silver ones creeping in.

Spring and summer (and for that matter Autumn and Winter) will happen whether or not my “bod” is beach or bikini- ready.
In my mid 70’s and five years beyond what DH managed to reach, I am just grateful to have made it this far.

Vanillasky Thu 18-May-23 21:31:58

I had my hair cut and coloured at the end of last month and had a lovely treatment applied yesterday leaving it silky for up to 8 washes apparently.
I'll get my nails done the day before I go away.
I'm blonde and not too hairy so shave myself. The challenge will be to lose a few pounds in the next ten days. Oh, and break in a couple of pairs of shoes.

Jaxjacky Thu 18-May-23 21:57:28

Better get the epilator out to deforest my legs, toenails had shellac polish on a couple of weeks ago, £10 bargain, when I bought sun cream.

Ktsmum Sun 21-May-23 11:15:35

Brought out the Garnier Summer Glow to get some colour on my chalk white legs and arms, ready for summer skirts and dresses

Nannapat1 Sun 21-May-23 11:38:32

I have my hair coloured and cut every 5 weeks and a mani and pedi with gel nails approx every 4 weeks: I can't reach my left foot due to OA so for me a pedi is essential, although the gel isn't 🙃! I also from time to time have lvl lashes and my eyebrows waxed.
I shave my legs and underarms every few days out of habit.
Looking at it, seems a lot of maintenance but I wouldn't describe myself as hot ( to trot) though! 😄

Nannapat1 Sun 21-May-23 11:43:25

Some people have mentioned long handled lotion applicators. I bought mine from Amazon and have found it very useful for my lower legs and feet. I'm a bit messy with it though!

Witzend Sun 21-May-23 11:51:22

We’re away on Wednesday, to an area of Burgundy where the weather is often unpredictable, but I shall be giving myself a pedicure before we go, and a general de-fuzz in case it’s pool weather - and provided that BiL has already had the heater on, of course.

Hannahmac14 Sun 21-May-23 11:53:50

How about those little bags with moisturiser in that you put your feet in? Available at chemists/Superdrug. Lovely.

knspol Sun 21-May-23 11:53:54

Always have regular manicure and pedicure but definitely nowhere near hot to trot. Need to start the yearly search for sandals that fit around and hide my dreadful bunions, Also that time of year when I notice how saggy and wrinkly my arms are not to mention the white legs and last summer's clothes that no longer fit BUT at least the sun is shining!!!

HeavenLeigh Sun 21-May-23 12:00:24

I’m lucky I’ve never had to shave arms or legs, underactive thyroid don’t know whether that makes a difference, although to be fair I never did when young, I always have my hair cut regularly throughout the year anyway so no change there, and pedicure done three times year, don’t have nails done do them myself.don’t wear false eyelashes or have Botox or fillers as an ex beauty consultant the only thing I do different in spring and summer is I use a good fake tan, and drink a lot more water.
