Shaper pants - any experience / advice?

Anyone any recommendations for shaper pants? I have a flabby tummy, although I’m not too overweight. Several dresses I have would definitely look better if I could ‘flatten’ the midriff area! M and S ones any good? Do they work? Are they comfortable? (Especially in the heat, or for a whole day / evening?) Anyone bought from Conturve online?
Thanks

The very best by a country mile are Skims ( Kim Kardashian ).
She is a disgrace to womanhood in many ways but her legacy is Skims.
They are comfy and really work.
I got mine from eBay (new in box ) a charity seller had a job lot they were £20.
I have tried many others but nothing like these, they look so small when you unpack them but miraculously they fit and hold it all in, you are also able to breathe and move, always a bonus!

I have tried the M&S ones and some Sloggi ones I think they were when I wanted to look a little sleeker for a wedding.
They were ok for a while but not particularly comfortable for a whole day and dancing in the evening after a meal.
The trouble is I think is that if they squish you in one place it comes out elsewhere which is why some pants have longer legs and higher waists up to your bra line! You could theoretically end up with many chins and huge knees!!

Thanks Sago, I’ll look those up.

Yes, Nannynoodles, that’s rather what I imagined!

I bought one from M and S a few years ago. It came up under the bra and had straps and did a wonderful job of flattening tum and bum. Sadly, I have put on too much weight and doubt I could get into it now.

Still available on eBay, these are a big saving on the Selfridges site.

I've got M&S ones, very comfortable, don't ride up your legs or roll down at the waist and they do the job. 2 pairs for £20.

I'm looking for knickers with the longer legs - for chub rub.

I have some Sloggi ones but there is absolutely no support in the body part and I need that to hold in my horrible belly.

I also have some of the heavy duty ones. These are great for a special occasion but a bit too restricting for everyday wear.

I am trying to find something in between, or at least something with a panel at the front.

I had a look in M&S. They have the non support ones. They did have some 'shorts' that seemed OK but the legs were not long enough.

There are tons of the chub rub pants on Amazon but they all seem to be the thin ones.

Sorry for hijacking the thread but mine is a similar issue. Would love some recommendations. Thanks

I've bought from Conturve (after seeing a FB advert!), and can report that I'm very p!eased with them. They are comfortable and stay up, and really do smooth you out, and pull that tummy in. Will be taking them on my cruise to wear under my formal dresses!

Nannynoodles thank you so much for that lovely vision - I spluttered into my coffee! grin

Some years ago I had some Spanx, longish legged ones.
I wore them under my best black trousers to the opera. When I stood up, my trousers almost fell down.

At a wedding a few years ago DD asked me to accompany her to the loo and go into the cubicle, she had a pair on and wanted to get them off to breathe, what a struggle we had and when she threw them in the bin there were about 5 other pairs of different makes and styles already in.
She also had bright red welts around her legs and just below her bra. She is a size 10/12 and regretted ever buying them, what they would do to me I can only guess.

This has given me a really good laugh in the middle of sorting out finances. Loving it, thank you!
And has stopped me thinking I ought to do something about my tummy for a garden party next Saturday. Hurrah!

I think that the trouble is that if they're tight enough to work they're too tight to be comfortable!
I'm a bit too long in the body, but I think that the bodysuit type are probably better for keeping the midriff under control, though I'm guessing that doing up the crotch fastening is really tricky as both sides pull up under your clothes. The ones without a fastening are really not workable I've found.
As Nannynoodles said, whatever you do the flab has to go somewhere, so it really just evens it out rather than removes it. Sadly I have too much to make this practicable...

I wear suck you in pants with chubb rub leg and come up to under your bra from Debenhams and I bought one size up as I wanted a smooth finish and the chubb rub built in. With it coming to under your bra, I didn't have any squeezy out bits.

Skims by a mile don’t waste your money testing the others out.

Have not laughed out loud for ages ladies. What about walking pilates and look at the BODY.

Oh that’s interesting BlueSapphire - I heard from my sis in law today and she said she wouldn’t get Conturve as her’s kept rolling down!

I got these, a gentle pull-in effect which helps firm you up.
The more drastic types in lycra are just awful as you daren’t eat.😬
I got white ones, didn’t see any black, which I’d like.

Dixieblue Sat 15-Jul-23 13:17:04

I have the same type from Next, and like you, got the next size up as they looked rather small. They do the job very nicely.

If I’m wearing them for an evening out and might be having a few drinks, I have to be mindful and make sure to visit the loo often so as not to end up bursting to go - they are a bit tricky to get down.

I am quite slim but I do have a mummy tummy. I hate fast fashion and never shop in Primark expect for their shape wear it’s better than anywhere and I have been wearing shapewear for many years and tried many brands . My super tiny daughter introduced me to Primark shape wear and I wouldn’t bother with any other brand now, it last a long time and washes well so is sustainable.
I buy either the vest and shorts or the all- in-one sometimes the slip. If you do not do it all over you will get back fat or rolls and lumps that comes out at the top or bottom, I wear M&S shaped wear tights over the top of the shorts or under a slip. I wear this combination all day most days and never feel uncomfortable. Always buy the right size to small and its counterproductive too big and it will not work.
I also do Zumba twice a week and my flabby tummy is much less flabby than it was, but still needs a bit of support. You also never get a knicker line.

Sorry to jump on your post staceyann.
But those who’ve worn skims , do you go down a size or have your normal size ? And do they have poppers on the gusset? Thanks

BlueSapphire Sat 15-Jul-23 14:00:03

Staceyann, I put them on first, then put my bra on so that the top edge is tucked under my bra!
