If I want to treat myself which I do every now and again. I will always buy a scarf. Never cost more than around £15, although I’ve got cashmere ones and silk ones bought for me as presents.

Love scarves - wear them like jewellery. Usually buy them on holiday when there is an unanticipated breeze. They tidy up necklines and jazz up plain tops, dresses and if you use a particular way of knotting them they never move out of place.

I’m also a huge scarf lover , I have so many I’ve lost count . I tend to buy them on eBay as they can be good value for little money , they also huge choice plain , patterned, chiffon or viscose ect ect . Whenever I buy a new top I browse on eBay to find one that will compliment the colour / style .
Tap in scarves on Google there you will find lots ideas to wear them , I just take screenshots so then I have something to see how it’s done as I can never remember .

I must confess I love them to. I have something of everything, in winter I revel in my big, 1 meter square light wool ones to wear and the long wool brocade ones that are 2 meters long and very wide, act like a shawl to sine silk ones. Love them.

Handbags for me. Always good labels but always bought from charity shops or online. Eventually sell them on for at least what I paid. My best friend got a brand new Mulberry for her 50th… well over £1,000 - and to me it really does not look £1000 special shock

I’m a big fan of cotton snoods… good for disguising a wrinkly neck! :-)

Judy Dench wears a scarf over one shoulder. I think she always looks stylish.

Primrose53 Fri 21-Jul-23 16:26:18

Does anybody wear one the way Jenni Murray does? She just drapes a flat scarf over one shoulder and it looks like a table runner!

I am currently reading her book “Fat Cow, Fat Chance” and she seems a good sort so I am waiting to hear what prompted her to wear a scarf like this. Looks daft to me.

Helpful video but some of those scarves might have been quite difficult to remove if in a hurry!!

I am another lover of scarves. I’ve got them in all the colours and all of the sizes! 😂 Quite a few have been bought for me as gifts, but I too have found a few bargains in the charity shop. They complement an outfit I think.

Another scarf lover here - I would hate to count how many I have!

Winter coat 😆

Oreo Fri 21-Jul-23 15:06:25

No, not a scarf wearer, tho I have a couple of soft wool ones for wearing with a Winter court.
Mum, now 80, has a huge drawer full of them which she never wears! I offered to take them to a charity shop but she won’t part with them😂

I am like Georges Gran and Bella23 in that I wear a dark colour and brighten it up with a jazzy scarf. I am a size 18/20.

I am not keen on having a dark colour next to my face as I have got older. I like the slimming effect of dark clothes so the colourful jazzy scarf works well - I hope.

I do feel that I should be brave and wear more bright colours - like Prue Leith. I think she is quite an fashion inspiration for older women

There a few tutorials on You Tube on different ways to tie a scarf. There is a nice one where you thread the ends through somehow but I can never remember what goes where

That’s a great video…If only it were in slow motion! 😂

I love scarves, and seeing a pretty middle-aged woman wearing one which exactly matched her hair last night on TV reminded me it will soon be time to wear them again.

I rarely discard them; I have pure silk squares from the 60s, small cotton head squares; chiffon ones, enormous patterned squares we used to wear outside our coats, long knitted wool mufflers, twisty snoods, and far too many pashminas.

I have loads many as presents. DD2 bought me a beautiful Ted Baker one as a Christmas present . I like to wear them to wrap around myself as well as around the neck. Always take one in my hand luggage as an extra layer when I fly, saves the back of your neck burning when say in the sun.

I think I must count them out of curiosity I have loads. One of my favourites was £3 in a Tesco summer sale!

foxie48 Fri 21-Jul-23 12:16:56

Another scarf lover! I have a huge collection and they are great for pulling together an outfit if you pick one which includes a colour that is an exact match to something that you are wearing.

rockgran Fri 21-Jul-23 11:53:13

I still have loads of Moira C. scarves which I love.

Another scarf lover here, I do have a lot of scarves.

I'm not even going to count them, as long as I have room I shall keep them tidy I'm happy.

I do wear them most days as I need to keep my neck warm.

When I travelled a lot I always had a minimum of a couple of silk scarves 1 square 1 long to change up outfits. Plus big cashmere stole and a cotton stole with me for the aircraft/hotel as they allowed me to keep warm or cool depending on where I was.

Plus the cotton one was big enough to use as a beach wrap or over nightwear as a sort of dressing gown if needed.

I've written on here a couple of times that if I hadn't had this as my user name I could have had Too Many Scarves :-)

Enjoy your scarves :-)

Marydoll Fri 21-Jul-23 10:46:25

I thought NanKate had started this thread. I believe she has an inordinate number of scarves,. as have I. 😉

Millie22 Fri 21-Jul-23 10:43:09

Love scarves 💕

I've got a favourite one that I knitted and a few fabric ones from Accessorize.

nanna8 Fri 21-Jul-23 10:34:33

Culling time for me, I have far too many. Lucky op shops.

Blossoming Fri 21-Jul-23 10:31:04

I have lots, I daren’t count them grin Many have been presents.

Chocolatelovinggran Fri 21-Jul-23 10:28:14

Me too!

Greyduster Fri 21-Jul-23 10:12:28

I’ve never been big on scarves - I only remember buying two for myself, but DD has bought me some lovely ones over the years; silk, some of them, and they are coming into their own now though I can’t carry them off like she can.
